Chapter 306: Request
Chapter 306: Request
The fact that she had lived for so long made Richard instinctively assume that this woman was a Fourth Stage Ancient Sovereign like the White Ancestor and the others.
He became somewhat cautious.
Even though she was his ancestor and he believed she had no intention of harming him, he knew nothing about her personality.
"Greetings, Ancestor. Please forgive my rudeness," he said with a respectful bow.
It was the only thing he could do for now.
The last thing he wanted was to become hostile toward her.
"I can smell the scent of many women on you," the woman remarked, leaving Richard completely stunned.
He had no idea how to respond.
"I’ve heard that you’re the greatest talent among all my descendants. Some even claim you’re the greatest genius in the entire history of this world," she continued.
"People tend to exaggerate. In reality, I’m still behind many others," Richard replied, choosing to be modest.
"Hmph. You certainly don’t look like someone who believes that. It seems more like you’re admitting that you truly are the greatest talent," the woman snorted after hearing his answer.
Richard didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
This was the problem with dealing with ancient monsters—especially a female one.
He could only feel awkward and remain silent.
"The White Crow told me you wish to become stronger," the woman said again.
"I naturally want to become stronger," Richard answered firmly.
"Can you help me, Ancestor?" he asked.
Pretending to be humble clearly wouldn’t work before this woman, so he decided to be straightforward.
"Look at this."
A tiny golden light suddenly appeared above the tip of her right index finger.
Richard narrowed his eyes before realizing that it was a drop of golden blood.
"This is my husband’s blood. For his descendants, it can raise your Lord Realm limit by one hundred and fifty thousand Aether. It can only be used once."
Richard’s eyes immediately lit up.
It wasn’t merely because of her words.
He could sense it himself.
That drop of blood truly had the power to increase his Aether by that amount.
His own blood unconsciously began to boil with desire.
"If you expect to receive it for free, that’s impossible," said Madam Skylight.
This time, a faint smile appeared on her face.
"What must I do, Ancestor?" Richard asked.
He was slightly worried.
Not receiving it for free was one thing, but she might demand something far beyond his ability.
"I want to borrow your body."
"Eh?"
Richard froze completely.
Borrow his body?
For what?
A dirty thought couldn’t help crossing his mind.
Had she become lonely after being separated from her husband for so many years?
But he quickly dismissed the idea.
Someone who had lived for such an unimaginably long time couldn’t possibly harbor such ridiculous desires.
"What are you thinking, boy? Do you want me to beat you up?" the woman said after noticing his expression.
Richard immediately became nervous.
"N-No, nothing at all. Ancestor, what do you need my body for?" he quickly denied it, even though she had clearly guessed what he was thinking.
There was no way he could admit something like that.
"To use as fertilizer," Madam Skylight answered casually.
"I’ve observed that your mastery of the Codex of Celestial Being is the highest quality available. That makes you the perfect fertilizer. Your body will be destroyed until only your heart remains, then restored, then destroyed again, and restored once more. I guarantee you won’t feel any pain during the destruction. The entire process will only take one hour."
Richard’s lips twitched violently.
He nearly stumbled backward.
What kind of absurd request was that?
Just what sort of plant required his body as fertilizer?
"I won’t force you. If you refuse, you may leave. But forget about obtaining this blood," Madam Skylight added after seeing his reaction.
"Will I truly recover after being destroyed?" Richard asked in return.
Naturally, he could regenerate himself thanks to the Heavenly Water.
Its energy might be depleted, but it still possessed regeneration so extraordinary that killing him would be nearly impossible unless it was removed from him first.
Of course, he intended to conceal it within his heart and refrain from activating it for the time being.
"Do you think I’m lying to you?" Madam Skylight replied.
"Simply tell me whether you’re willing or not."
"Very well. I agree," Richard decided, even though his heart trembled with fear.
He couldn’t resist the temptation of gaining another one hundred and fifty thousand Aether.
"Put away your treasures and temporarily transfer all your external powers into your heart," Madam Skylight instructed.
Richard nodded.
He stored his ring inside the Dragon Hall and let it float off to one side.
He gathered all his external powers into his heart—not only the Heavenly Water, but also the Sacred Flame and the Titan Skeleton.
If those were destroyed, they would truly be gone forever.
Madam Skylight merely glanced at the Dragon Hall before losing interest.
Who was she?
An artifact like that wasn’t enough to attract her attention.
"I’m ready, Ancestor," Richard said.
His voice was still trembling.
At that very moment, the woman raised her hand toward him.
A translucent radiance spread from her palm and enveloped his body.
Boom!
Richard instantly lost consciousness.
Yet somehow, he could still clearly see his body being sliced into countless pieces.
A moment later, he regained awareness.
His body had been completely restored.
Fragments floated around him.
He knew they were the remains of his own severed body.
Naturally, he was extremely curious how Madam Skylight had restored him so quickly.
After all, his body contained immense power.
Even if a body at this level were destroyed without its owner dying, rebuilding it would normally require an astronomical amount of resources.
Before he could think any further, he lost consciousness again.
The cycle repeated over and over.
True to her word, he felt absolutely no pain.
Yet his mind couldn’t help but be shaken.
The experience was deeply unsettling, like trying to sleep while being awakened over and over again without end.
