Chapter 311: Conflict

Chapter 311: Conflict

"So, sir, which direction is the Fire Spirit Kingdom?" Richard asked.

His thoughts had begun to wander. The wine had gotten him drunk almost immediately.

"You’ll reach it if you head that way..." The middle-aged man pointed in a certain direction.

"When you see a river of fire, you’ll know you’ve arrived. Just follow the river, and it’ll lead you to the capital, Fire Spirit City. However, the Fire Spirit Kingdom is currently at war."

"At war?" Richard frowned.

Is that why the Fire Spirit Queen returned?

"Who are they fighting?" he asked.

"The Star Spirit Kingdom, their neighboring kingdom. It’s a power on par with the Fire Spirit Kingdom, although it has only produced a single Grand Sovereign. The Star Spirit King is one of the greatest geniuses in the Land of Spirits today. At the age of twenty, he seized the throne from his elder brother. He’s probably the Spirits’ only remaining candidate, since the Sun Spirit King has chosen his human wife instead.

"I also heard recently that the Star Spirit King has fallen in love with the Fire Spirit Queen. He even promised peace if she agreed to marry him." The middle-aged man wore a faint smile as he spoke those last words.

"That man deserves to die," Richard muttered before taking another drink, then another, becoming even more intoxicated.

"How much do I owe you?" he asked.

"Today’s on the house," the middle-aged man replied.

"Oh..." Richard was genuinely surprised.

After all, this was clearly expensive wine if it could make him drunk. He had already finished more than ten glasses.

After a brief moment of surprise, he nodded.

"Then thank you..."

Whatever the man’s reason for treating him to free wine, Richard didn’t mind.

He wasn’t an ordinary person. Being treated differently was only natural.

He stood up and walked out of the tavern.

His body felt incredibly light, causing his steps to sway slightly.

Fortunately, his vision remained perfectly clear.

"Out of my way, brat!" A young man suddenly appeared in front of the tavern and shoved him.

However, the young man’s strength wasn’t even enough to make Richard budge.

He had brilliant blond hair that was almost transparent, along with a pair of enormous butterfly-like wings made of light.

Most distinctive of all were his star-shaped pupils, shining brilliantly.

Failing to move Richard, the young man froze in surprise.

"A human."

His shock deepened when he realized the person he had tried to shove was actually human.

Bang!

Richard kicked him square in the chest, sending him flying backward before crashing into a massive building, which immediately collapsed.

Boom!

The young man’s aura erupted, blasting the rubble in every direction.

"Bastard! How dare you! Do you even know who I am?" he roared, pointing at Richard with a trembling hand.

The surrounding crowd immediately erupted into discussion.

"The Star Spirit Prince, Walker Spiritstar! He’s the younger brother of the Star Spirit King, born from the same mother."

"Who is that human? How dare he attack the Star Spirit Prince?"

"I think I saw him arrive from the sea just now."

"Oh..."

While the Spirits were talking among themselves, Richard calmly walked forward and appeared before the young man once again.

"And do you know who I am?" he asked before slapping him so hard that his face twisted grotesquely.

This time, Walker wasn’t sent flying.

Instead, he collapsed to the ground, unable to stand because the slap had thrown his entire Aether into chaos.

All he could do was sit there, gasping for breath.

At that moment, how could he not realize how overwhelmingly powerful his opponent was?

"Who is this human? The Star Spirit Prince is a Peak Lord. How is he completely helpless?"

"This human also appears to be only a Peak Lord," another Spirit with sharp perception said.

"Seriously?"

The Spirits became even more astonished.

"How can he be so powerful?"

"He must be a top-tier genius."

"Who are you?" the Star Spirit Prince asked.

He had become much more rational now.

"Richard Skylight," Richard replied.

Although his original name was simply Richard, Skylight could no longer be separated from it because he truly belonged to that clan.

"Richard Skylight..."

The Spirits exchanged glances.

"The Skylight Clan is one of the strongest human clans."

"That’s right. The Skylight Grand Sovereign was also one of the mightiest Grand Sovereigns in history."

"Hey, you’re from the Land of Humans, aren’t you? Have you heard of this name?"

"Of course. Richard is the most famous genius there. He’s still incredibly young, yet he’s already surpassed countless other geniuses. He even entered the Sea River, the mysterious place that allowed the Demon Flame Grand Sovereign to triumph in the previous era. He probably no longer has any rivals in the Land of Humans, so he came here."

"So he’s really that amazing?"

"Yes. He’s undefeated. I also heard he possesses the Void Element."

"What? That legendary Element? Only two people have ever possessed it before. They weren’t as powerful as the others, yet both still became Grand Sovereigns."

"Well, if that’s true, then it’s no wonder he’s undefeated."

"..."

"So?" Richard grabbed the Star Spirit Prince by the collar.

"Where’s your father? Your Ancestor? Call every one of them here!" he shouted angrily.

"That human seems drunk."

"He definitely is. He just came out of that tavern. Even Rulers get drunk from the wine served there."

"You... you think you’re the strongest?" the Star Spirit Prince asked with a pale face.

He had no strength left to resist.

Unfortunately for him, his opponent wasn’t intimidated by his background.

Just as Richard was about to slap him again, a cavalry unit suddenly arrived.

Every rider had crimson hair and blazing wings of fire.

Even their horses were wreathed in flames.

They looked like a highly disciplined army, led by a handsome and valiant young man.

"The Fire Spirits... Prince Damian’s army."

"Damian? He’s the Fire Spirit Queen’s nephew, isn’t he? I heard he’s always been on the front lines of the war against the Star Spirit Kingdom."

"Why are they here?"
