Chapter 1220: Extreme
Chapter 1220: Extreme
It spread outward from me in every direction, its surface slowly rippling beneath my feet. The farther I pushed my understanding of Space, the larger it became. What had initially been nothing more than a small pool soon stretched beyond my perception, and before long, it had transformed into a vast silver river flowing endlessly through the void.
Its waves rose around me, sometimes reaching several dozen meters high before collapsing back into the flowing expanse. Yet despite their tremendous size, the waves never truly moved away from me. They seemed to follow my thoughts, responding to every change in my understanding of Space.
I continued pondering. The more I understood, the more violently the river responded.
Then something emerged from beneath its surface.
At first, I thought they were simply manifestations of Space, but soon I saw their forms clearly. They were creatures resembling fish, except their bodies were formed entirely from silver spatial energy. They swam through the river as naturally as ordinary fish would swim through water, leaving strange distortions in their wake.
I watched them curiously.
Two of them suddenly leapt from the river and rushed toward me.
I didn’t move.
With a thought, the Space around me rippled.
The two creatures were instantly disintegrated.
Their bodies broke apart into countless silver fragments, and once the fragments disappeared, two strange runes remained suspended in front of me.
I reached out with my perception.
The moment my senses touched them, the runes transformed into streams of information and entered my body.
My Soul Sphere trembled slightly.
The knowledge contained within the two runes wasn’t enormous, but it was extremely pure. Each rune represented a small piece of understanding regarding Space, something I had not yet fully comprehended on my own.
I closed my eyes for a moment as that understanding merged into my Soul Sphere.
A faint smile appeared on my face.
So that was another part of this place.
The creatures weren’t merely enemies.
They were manifestations of the Origin Expanse, formed from the very concepts I was trying to understand. By defeating them, I could obtain condensed fragments of insight and use them to push my comprehension further.
And suddenly, I understood why Aurora had never given me a specific technique for this place.
There was no technique that could replace understanding.
But the Expanse itself could help me.
I smiled.
Things were going to be much easier for me than they should have been.
My perception had always been my greatest advantage, but even that wasn’t something I had achieved through ordinary cultivation. The Generator talent had continuously pushed my attributes to an extreme level, and as my Psynapse and Soul had grown stronger, my ability to perceive and process information had reached a level that most cultivators could never hope to approach.
The Origin Expanse was filled with an unimaginable amount of information. For most people, that would have been a curse.
For me, it might become an advantage.
The river continued expanding.
More creatures appeared beneath its silver surface.
Dozens.
Then hundreds.
Then thousands.
Some looked like fish, while others had strange shapes that constantly shifted as they moved through the water. Their bodies seemed to represent different aspects of Space, and the moment they noticed me, they rushed toward me from every direction.
I remained in the center of the growing river.
The first creature reached me.
I raised a hand.
Space compressed around it.
Its body collapsed inward and disappeared, leaving another rune behind.
A second creature attacked from my left.
I shifted the space around it, causing its own movement to carry it into an impossible distance. It vanished into the depths of the river before I severed the connection and destroyed it.
Another appeared behind me. A thin spatial blade formed between my fingers and swept through its body.
The creature split apart.
Another rune appeared.
I didn’t stop.
The river had become my battlefield, but unlike every battlefield I had experienced before, every attack I used against these creatures was teaching me something.
I manipulated distance.
I manipulated position.
I folded space.
I compressed space.
I stretched it.
I created spatial barriers.
I severed spatial connections.
I shifted positions without moving my body.
Every time I used Space in a different way, I gained a slightly deeper understanding of the principle behind it. And every time one of the creatures died, another rune entered my body.
The runes flowed into my Soul Sphere, merging with my existing understanding and gradually becoming part of my foundation. The silver river continued to expand around me.
Its waves grew larger.
Its current became stronger.
And the number of creatures emerging from its depths continued to increase.
Yet I remained calm.
The more I comprehended Space, the more of Space it would show me.
And the more it showed me, the faster my comprehension would grow.
It was a perfect cycle.
I simply had to keep going.
Time passed without me noticing.
The silver river surrounding me continued to expand as my understanding of Space deepened. What had once been a small pond had become a vast river, and eventually even the river disappeared beneath an endless ocean of silver. Waves churned around me, rising and falling as countless manifestations of Space appeared within the water.
I fought them continuously, studying every movement, every distortion, every spatial phenomenon they displayed. Each battle gave me another fragment of understanding, and each fragment pushed my comprehension a little further.
Eventually, however, the changes began to slow.
I continued observing the ocean, but no matter how long I pondered, I couldn’t extract anything fundamentally new from it.
I had reached the limit of what I could understand through the methods I had been using.
My expression gradually became serious.
I knew what that meant. I had reached the extreme of my understanding of Space.
The next step was no longer comprehension.
It was Origin.
The moment that thought formed in my mind, the entire ocean trembled. The waves that had been churning around me suddenly froze.
Then they began moving away.
A vast circular area opened directly in front of me as the silver ocean parted, exposing an empty space at its center. The water continued retreating until the entire region became completely still.
Something began forming in the space that had been revealed.
Silver light gathered.
It condensed.
Then slowly took the shape of a humanoid figure.
The figure was almost exactly my height.
Its entire body was made from condensed silver spatial energy, with no visible features other than a pair of eyes that seemed to contain endless spatial distortions. In its hand was a long silver spear, and the moment the weapon appeared, the surrounding Space began trembling violently.
