Chapter 1219: The Origin Expanse
Chapter 1219: The Origin Expanse
The moment I stepped through the vortex, everything disappeared.
There was no light. No darkness either.
There was simply nothing.
I remained still for several seconds, allowing my perception to settle. Nothing entered my senses. No energy. No Law fluctuations. No spatial disturbance. Not even the faintest trace of existence.
I frowned slightly and looked around.
There was nothing to look at.
Aurora had told me that this place was a secret dimension where I could search for Origin, but she had never explained what I would actually find here. I had imagined ancient ruins, strange phenomena, perhaps some kind of environment that naturally contained traces of Origin.
Instead, I had entered an empty void.
I decided to move.
My body accelerated, and I flew forward at full speed.
At my current level, my speed was already enough to cross galaxies in a relatively short period of time. Even without using Echo Reversion, traveling through vast distances was no longer particularly difficult for me.
Yet after flying for what felt like an extremely long time, I still hadn’t found anything.
There was no end. Only the same empty void extending endlessly in every direction.
I slowed down and eventually stopped.
Something was wrong.
If this place truly contained the Origin of the universe’s Laws, then why couldn’t I sense even the smallest trace of it?
I closed my eyes and took a slow breath. Then I opened them again and activated the Right to Insight.
The change was instantaneous.
The blank void exploded into color.
My entire field of perception was suddenly filled with an incomprehensible amount of information.
Countless colors that I had never seen before flooded my senses. Endless lines, patterns, structures and connections appeared simultaneously, spreading farther than my perception could reach. I could see countless Laws intertwined with one another, fundamental principles overlapping with derived Laws, relationships forming and collapsing, space stretching into shapes that should not have been possible, time flowing in directions that contradicted everything I understood.
For a single instant, I felt as though I had opened my eyes and looked directly at the foundation of the universe. And then I shut them.
I staggered backward, my breathing becoming heavier. I immediately deactivated the Right to Insight.
For several moments, I simply stood there.
My mind was still trying to process what I had seen.
It wasn’t that the Origin Expanse was empty.
It was the complete opposite.
There was too much here.
Every fundamental Law of the universe seemed to be present in some form. They weren’t separated into neat categories either. They were mixed together, overlapping and influencing one another in ways that were completely beyond my current comprehension.
The problem was my perception.
My Right to Insight allowed me to see things that ordinary senses could never perceive, but that didn’t mean I was actually capable of understanding everything it showed me.
It was like trying to read an entire universe of knowledge at once.
I could see it. I simply couldn’t comprehend it. I took another deep breath and forced myself to calm down.
There was no point rushing. Aurora had already told me exactly what I needed to accomplish.
I didn’t need to understand everything.
I only needed to touch the Origin of a single Law.
Once I accomplished that, I would fulfill the final condition required to enter the Demi-God Realm.
One Law. That was all. I looked into the endless void around me.
My choice had already been made. I would start with the Law I understood best.
Spacetime.
Even then, I wouldn’t attempt to comprehend both aspects simultaneously.
I would begin with Space. I closed my eyes again.
What was Space?
The answer seemed simple. Space was the distance between two points. It provided position.
Direction.
Volume.
A place for things to exist. But the more I thought about it, the less satisfying that answer became.
If Space was merely distance, then what was distance without two points?
If Space was position, what defined a position?
If Space provided a place for things to exist, then did Space itself need to exist somewhere?
I slowly opened my eyes. Perhaps I had been thinking about it incorrectly from the beginning. Space wasn’t simply the empty area between things. It was what allowed things to have a relationship with one another through position.
Distance existed because two points were separated. Direction existed because positions could differ relative to one another. Volume existed because space could extend in multiple dimensions.
Even the concept of a boundary required space.
I continued pondering.
If two objects were separated by a thousand kilometers, then the distance between them wasn’t an independent object floating in the universe.
It was a relationship. A relationship established through Space.
The thought seemed simple. Yet as I continued following it, something around me began to change.
At first, I thought it was my imagination. Then I noticed a faint silver glow beneath my feet.
I lowered my gaze.
There was no ground beneath me, yet a thin silver thread had appeared in the void.
It slowly moved.
Then another thread appeared.
Then another.
Within moments, countless silver threads began flowing through the empty space around me. They moved like water. They intertwined, separated, curved around one another and disappeared into the distance.
I remained completely still.
The more I thought about Space, the more threads appeared. Eventually, the threads began gathering beneath me.
A small pool formed. Then a larger one. Soon, a vast silver pond stretched around my body. Its surface rippled gently, but there was no water.
It was Space. Space itself had begun manifesting in a form that I could perceive.
I stared at the silver pond in silence.
"So that’s how it is."
Looking at the silver pond surrounding me, I finally understood how the Origin Expanse was going to work. It wasn’t a place where I would simply find an Origin and absorb it. The Expanse would respond to my understanding.
Whatever I managed to comprehend would be reflected in the surrounding reality, and that manifestation would then help me deepen my comprehension further. It was a cycle of understanding and response, with each side pushing the other forward.
As that realization settled in my mind, the silver pond began to expand.
