Chapter 1284: To Become God

Chapter 1284: To Become God

Every one of my forty-nine Origins had reached that level, yet none had crossed the final ten percent. I had tried focusing on individual Origins, combining them through Absolute Authority, and allowing their comprehension to reinforce one another, but the result had always been the same.

I could strengthen their foundations and deepen my understanding, but the final boundary refused to yield.

I looked down at my hand, where faint fluctuations of Space, Time, Metal, and Gravity moved together without conflict.

I was stronger than I had ever been, but I was still a High Demi-God.

The realization did not frustrate me as much as it might have in the past. Three years of isolation had taught me that power alone was not always enough to cross a boundary, and the inability to advance beyond ninety percent had to mean that I was missing something fundamental. If the Origin Expanse could no longer provide the answer, then I would have to find it somewhere else.

The outside world remained my next concern, and I wanted to know whether the situation had changed during my long absence. If the Eternals had begun moving again, I could not afford to remain here while they prepared another attack. If the situation was still stable, however, I would finally have the opportunity to investigate the limitation that had stopped my progress.

I slowly extended both hands toward the darkness in front of me. I no longer needed the All-Knowing Eyes to search for an exit or identify the location of an ancient teleportation circle. With my current comprehension of Space, I could sense the relationship between this dimension and the universe outside as naturally as I could feel my own body.

I simply moved my hands apart, and the space before me split open, revealing the distant void beyond the Origin Expanse.

The tear widened under my control until it was large enough for me to walk through comfortably. I stepped forward without hesitation, and the surrounding space folded around me before releasing me into the ancient battlefield of the Prime Universe.

The first thing I noticed was the silence.

The battlefield was still filled with broken planets, shattered stars, and the remnants of countless battles, but the oppressive presence of the Eternals had disappeared. There were no enemy auras lurking in the distance, no spatial rifts opening to release another wave of invaders, and no traces of the terrifying pressure that had once covered this region. The only presence I could immediately sense belonged to a familiar figure sitting alone in the void.

Amun.

He was meditating with his legs crossed, surrounded by an intricate network of crimson chains that stretched toward distant regions of the universe. The moment I emerged, his eyes snapped open, and his body rose from its seated position almost instantly. He turned toward me, clearly prepared to face whatever had disturbed his meditation, but the moment his gaze settled on my figure, he froze.

For several seconds, he simply stared at me.

His eyes moved across my body, lingering on the fluctuations of my Origins and the overwhelming presence contained within my Divine Core. His expression changed several times, moving from confusion to disbelief before finally settling into complete shock.

I could not help chuckling at his reaction.

"What’s wrong, Amun? The defenses of this battlefield don’t seem particularly impressive to me. I was able to break into it without much difficulty."

My casual remark finally brought him back to his senses, although the astonishment on his face did not disappear completely. He looked at the spatial tear behind me before returning his gaze to my face, and then he shook his head with a disbelieving smile.

"You were only able to enter so easily because you are a native of the Prime Universe, and because your strength has reached this level. The battlefield’s defenses are designed primarily to prevent outsiders from entering without permission, not to stop someone who already belongs here and possesses your current control over Space."

He paused, studying me from head to toe once more, before letting out a long breath.

"Damn it, Billion. I can’t believe that I can actually feel threatened by you now."

I raised an eyebrow.

"Threatened?"

"Yes, threatened!" He suddenly burst into laughter. "Just three years! Three years, Billion! You disappeared for three years, and now you’ve returned with enough power to make me reconsider whether I should still call myself the strongest defender of the Prime Universe!"

His laughter grew louder, echoing through the broken void as he shook his head in disbelief. He laughed so hard that tears eventually gathered at the corners of his eyes, and for a moment, I genuinely wondered whether the pressure of his long war had finally affected his mind.

I watched him with growing concern. "Hey, are you okay?"

"Okay?" he repeated, wiping the tears from his eyes while trying to control his laughter. "I’m more than okay, Billion. I’m more than okay!"

He took a deep breath and looked at me again, but this time the laughter gradually faded, leaving behind an expression that was far more complicated than simple happiness.

"You have no idea how much this means to me. Assigning the Executor class to you was a gamble that the System and I took together. Giving you the Null Core was another gamble. We had no guarantee that you would reach this point, and there were times when even I wasn’t certain whether our decision would lead anywhere. Yet here you are, standing in front of me after only three years, having accomplished what I had hoped for but never dared to expect so soon."

His voice softened as he looked toward the distant darkness.

"Seeing you reach this stage, seeing the path we chose finally take shape, makes me feel that even if we lose against the Eternals now, I can die in peace knowing that I tried everything possible.

I have spent countless years defending this universe, searching for a way to overcome Theras, and wondering whether all my efforts would ever amount to anything. Now I know that there was a reason to keep going."

I remained silent for a moment, trying to make sense of his words. The Executor class, the Null Core, and the gamble he had mentioned clearly meant more than he was explaining, but I had no intention of allowing him to start talking about dying as though our defeat were already decided.

"All right, I don’t understand half of what you’re saying, but I can assure you of one thing. I’m not letting us die, and we’re certainly not going to lose against the Eternals."

Amun stared at me before another grin spread across his face.

"Sure, man. Sure, whatever you say." He waved his hand dismissively, although the amusement in his eyes made it clear that he was not actually brushing me off. "I’m completely aligned with you. Whatever you want to do, just let me know, and I’ll support you."

"Good," I replied. "Before we discuss anything else, tell me what’s been happening outside. Based on the information I received through my summons, the Eternals have completely withdrawn from the Prime Universe."
