Chapter 1290: Strength

I nodded, appreciating his honesty rather than being disappointed by it. Amun had already given me more information than I had possessed before our conversation, and expecting him to solve a problem that had resisted even his efforts would have been unreasonable. If the answer existed, I would have to discover it myself, just as I had done with the many obstacles that had stood in my way before.

"Understood. I’ll see what I can uncover, and once I’ve made some progress, I’ll return."

Amun acknowledged my response with a nod, and with that, our conversation came to an end.

There was little more either of us could accomplish by standing there discussing possibilities, particularly when the time available to us was growing shorter with every passing moment. He had preparations to make for the coming war, while I needed to find a way to overcome the most stubborn obstacle I had encountered since beginning my journey toward Godhood.

I turned away from him and took a single step forward.

Space parted around me without resistance, and the oppressive void of the ancient battlefield disappeared as I crossed into the Origin Expanse of the Prime Universe.

I did not need to search for an entrance or activate a formation, because Space itself had become something I could command with a thought. The boundary between dimensions yielded before my Absolute Authority, allowing me to move directly from one realm of existence into another.

The familiar sensation of primordial Essence washed over me as I arrived, and I immediately began examining my surroundings.

The Origin Expanse was vast, stretching beyond the limits of ordinary perception, with countless manifestations of different Origins drifting through its depths. Streams of elemental Essence flowed through the dimension, fragments of Laws gathered in distant regions, and the underlying structure of reality pulsed with the faint rhythm of the Origins that sustained the Prime Universe.

Yet something felt different from the moment I arrived.

I extended my perception through the dimension, allowing my Absolute Authority to interact with the Essence surrounding me, and gradually understood what had caught my attention.

The Origin Expanse of the Prime Universe was considerably weaker than the one I had explored in the Primordial Beast Universe. Its Essence was thinner, its manifestations less substantial, and the depth at which the fundamental structures of the Origins revealed themselves was noticeably shallower.

Even the immense regions that appeared rich in primordial Essence could not compare to what I had encountered during those three years of isolation.

The difference was not merely a matter of quantity. In the Beast Universe, the Origins had manifested with a density and intensity that allowed me to examine their structures at a far deeper level, giving me access to forms of Essence that were almost impossible to find in weaker environments.

The Prime Universe’s Origin Expanse, by comparison, felt as though it offered only a partial reflection of the same underlying principles, enough to support comprehension but perhaps not enough to expose the deeper truths I needed to discover.

My thoughts gradually returned to the problem that had followed me throughout my three years of meditation. I had reached ninety percent resonance with forty-nine Origins, but no matter how much Origin Essence I absorbed or how thoroughly I examined their manifestations, none of them would advance further.

Initially, I had assumed that the limitation was related to my own comprehension, that some missing insight prevented me from seeing what lay beyond the boundary. Yet I could no longer dismiss the possibility that my surroundings had also played a role.

Perhaps the Origin Expanse of a universe was not simply a place where Origin Essence gathered, but a reflection of the depth and strength of the universe’s own Origins. If that were true, then the quality of an Origin Expanse might determine how much a being could comprehend while dwelling within it. The stronger the universe, the deeper its Origin Expanse might be, and the closer one could come to the fundamental truths that remained hidden in weaker dimensions.

It was only a hypothesis, but it was the first possibility I had encountered in a long time that offered a different explanation for my failure.

I had spent three years in the Beast Universe’s Origin Expanse, raising forty-nine Origins to ninety percent resonance, and then returned to the Prime Universe only to find that my progress had stopped at the same boundary.

What if the next step required something that the Origin Expanse of an ordinary universe could no longer provide? What if I needed to explore an even more powerful universe, one whose Origins had developed to a level far beyond anything I had encountered so far?

I could not be certain that such a place would help me cross the threshold, but it might at least allow me to push beyond ninety percent. Even a small increase would tell me whether the problem lay in my comprehension, the nature of the boundary itself, or the limitations of the environment in which I had been studying the Origins.

For the first time since returning from the Beast Universe, I had found a direction worth pursuing.

I extended my consciousness through the Null Core, reaching for the familiar connections that linked me to my summons, and called them to my side.

Space rippled around me as three figures emerged from the distortion, each carrying an aura far more powerful than the one they had possessed before my breakthrough.

Aurora appeared first, lightning flickering across her form as her presence spread through the surrounding dimension.

Silver followed, his enormous silver-steel wings unfolding with a metallic shimmer, while Ash materialized beside him, his aura steady and dense with the power of a High Demi-God.

Their advancement had followed mine, as expected. With my breakthrough to High Demi-God, each of them had risen to Middle Demi-God, but it looked like with me reaching the 90% threshold they too have broken through the High Demi-God realm.

Aurora, Silver, and Ash had barely settled beside me when four more figures emerged from the spatial distortion: Lyrate, Ragnar, Lacome, Darkness and Knight. With all eight summons gathered, I examined their strength through the connection with my Null Core, only to discover a noticeable difference in their overall combat abilities despite sharing the same High Demi-God realm.

Lyrate was the strongest among them, followed by Knight and then Darkness. Upon closer examination, I realized that the difference came primarily from the Origins each had comprehended and the depth of their understanding. Their realms were identical, but the foundations supporting their power were not, giving some of them a clear advantage in combat.

However, their greatest advantage lay elsewhere. Through their connection with me, they could also use the forty-nine Origins I had comprehended, although their control over them was nowhere near my own. This gave them access to a far wider range of abilities than their personal comprehension alone would allow, making them considerably more versatile in battle.
