Chapter 1729 An Intruder
Chapter 1729 An Intruder
The Howlers were, of course, a name that everyone knew, one that carried fear wherever it was spoken. They were a pack with a reputation that preceded them, and few were foolish enough to challenge them directly.
The problem was, the place they were currently in wasn’t a city that was known to be occupied by the Howlers.
At least, not to their knowledge.
Because of that, they could only assume that the person standing in front of them was a stray. Someone alone. Someone without backup. And that assumption would be their downfall.
“Did you guys just say that you were thinking of killing me?” Midwak asked, a wide grin spreading across his face as his feet began to transform. His bones shifted, claws forming as his toes elongated and dug into the surface beneath him. “I’d really like to see you try.”
With a powerful jump, Midwak leapt off the large tree he had been standing on. His foot kicked back against the trunk as he launched himself forward, and the force was so immense that the tree itself was pushed backward.
The massive trunk slammed into part of the apartment building behind him, the very building he had just been protecting. Concrete cracked, dust falling as the impact echoed through the area.
This was the force of his strength now.
Before the others could even properly react, Midwak had already closed the distance. In an instant, he appeared in front of one of the Raptor gang members and drove his fist straight into the man’s stomach.
There was no holding back.
Midwak unleashed all of his strength in that single punch. The Raptor member’s body lifted cleanly off the ground, his eyes widening as the air was forced from his lungs. He flew backward, smashing into a railing before tumbling over it and falling straight into the river below.
“Damn it!” Midwak shouted, clicking his tongue. “How am I meant to eat that one now?”
The moment his feet touched the ground again, danger came from his side.
A massive tail swung toward him, whipping through the air with terrifying speed and slamming into his stomach. The force was heavy enough to send shockwaves through his body, but Midwak reacted instantly.
He grabbed the tail mid-swing.
Muscles bulged as he transformed more of his body, gripping tightly and digging his claws in. His feet scraped along the ground as he stopped the momentum completely, bringing the attack to a dead halt.
These were, after all, members of a Tier 2 gang.
They weren’t as strong as the Kings, but they weren’t weak either. Some of them were talented, dangerously so, in their Altered forms. It was just unfortunate for them.
Midwak was stronger than he had ever been.
With a growl, he swung the tail hard, lifting the entire person attached to it off the ground. Using their own weight against them, Midwak raised the Altered high into the air before slamming them straight down.
The impact cracked the floor beneath them. Concrete shattered outward as the body hit, leaving the Raptor member embedded in the ground, unmoving.
Seeing this, the rest of the Raptor group didn’t hesitate any longer.
One by one, they began transforming into their full Altered forms. Bodies grew larger, muscles swelling, scales spreading across skin. Nearly all of them were massive in size.
They had large claws, thick tails, rows of sharp teeth, and powerful, muscular frames. Not all Altered forms increased one’s size, but for the Raptor group, almost all of them did.
They looked like monsters straight out of the past.
Like dinosaurs reborn.
Watching them, Midwak banged his chest with a closed fist as his own transformation continued. Fur spread across his body, muscles thickening, bones reshaping as he shifted fully into his Werewolf form.
His presence alone changed the air around him.
“This is perfect,” Midwak thought. “I’ve been wanting to see just how much stronger I’ve gotten after consuming that damned Ghost.”
He leapt into the air.
One of the Raptor members opened its mouth wide, preparing to bite down on him mid-jump. Midwak twisted his body and drove his fist straight into the side of its head. The impact shattered teeth instantly.
Fragments flew as the Altered howled in pain, its body spinning uncontrollably before crashing to the ground below.
Midwak landed smoothly, already turning toward the next target. He was enjoying himself.
Because of the type of Altered his opponents were, they could actually withstand one or two hits from him in their fully transformed state. Their strength was real. Their durability wasn’t something to scoff at.
Still, when compared to him…Midwak was simply better in every aspect. Strength. Speed. Control. Experience. It wasn’t even close.
As the fight dragged on, one by one, members of the Raptor group stopped getting back up. Bodies lay scattered across the area, some groaning, others completely still.
Midwak leapt again, preparing to strike another opponent mid-air, When suddenly, another large tail swung upward, aiming to knock him straight out of the sky.
Before it could connect, A flash of green cut across his vision.
From the side, a sharp, green arm shot out and sliced clean through the tail. The severed limb fell to the ground with a wet thud.
Midwak landed and turned.
Another person had joined the fight.
A man with short brown hair, looking to be in his thirties, landed nearby. One of his arms had transformed completely, it resembled the massive, bladed limb of a praying mantis.
Sharp. Long. Lethal. It was clear immediately. Another Altered.
“Who the fuck are you?!” Rex shouted, transforming further into a smaller, more compact purple dinosaur-like Altered. His shoulders bulged, thick with muscle, power radiating from his form.
“I should be asking you guys the same thing,” the man replied calmly. “You’re the ones not from this city. So it’s best you get out.”
Without waiting for a response, the man charged forward.
He ran straight at one of the larger transformed Reptile Altereds. When the creature swung its arm down at him, he leapt upward, driving his pointed hand straight into its tough hide.
The blade pierced clean through.
Using the embedded arm as leverage, he climbed up the Altered’s side, his movements fast and precise. In seconds, he reached its head.
Then he sliced.
The cut went straight across the neck, deep enough to send blood spraying. The Altered let out a guttural bellow before collapsing to the ground as the man landed beside it.
“Wait!” one of the Raptor members shouted in shock. “I know him, I’ve seen him on TV before!”
Eyes widened.
“That’s Churk! One of the top AFC fighters!”
