Chapter 306: Silent King (2)
Chapter 306: Silent King (2)
Kyrian remained seated on the high branch of the Ancestral Tree, the gentle wind swaying the leaves around him as if the tree itself breathed calmly. He watched the chaos below with half-closed eyes, his mind serene like the surface of a still lake on a windless night. Nothing down there attracted him enough to descend. Not yet.
The clearing around the colossal tree had turned into a true battlefield. Cries of pain, explosions of colored Qi, the metallic sound of clashing swords, and the roar of spiritual techniques echoed without pause. The ground was covered with splinters of wood, fresh blood, and destroyed leaves that still pulsed faintly before completely fading away.
Of the thirty youths who had previously occupied the area, nearly half were already fighting with visible injuries. Some had deep cuts, bleeding profusely, others coughed up poisoned blood, and a few could barely stand, breathing with difficulty. Even so, no one retreated. The greed for points was greater than the fear of elimination or death.
Outside, on the Central Plateau, the ranking list updated frantically, like a racing heart.
First Phase Ranking – Accumulated Points
Position 1° - Kyrian (Verdant Sword Sect) 4.012 points
Position 2° - Huo Ling (Flaming Sword Sect) 2.187 points
Position 3° - Mu Qing (Ancient Forest Sect) 1.934 points
Position 4° - Jin Lei (Golden Mountain Domain) 1.756 points
...
Second place had risen above 2.000 points, but the gap to Kyrian was still overwhelming. Names appeared and disappeared from the list every few minutes as participants were eliminated and their points redistributed to the victors.
Kyrian looked down and realized that, of the thirty who had arrived earlier, only twenty remained. Ten had been eliminated in fast and brutal fights. He also noticed that several youths were arriving from all directions, drawn by the deafening noise of battle and the intense flashes of Qi techniques. Probably because the beasts were running out, they could no longer accumulate points by hunting wooden creatures and needed to steal from other cultivators.
Everyone who arrived immediately perceived the chaos. Eyes widened at the sight of the massacre, but greed spoke louder. They threw themselves into the fight, swimming in turbulent waters, trying to eliminate those who seemed more exhausted and carried more accumulated points.
The only one who was not targeted by absolutely anyone was Kyrian, who still remained above the tree, untouchable, like a living statue observing the mortal world.
Meanwhile, in another region of the forest, Mo Tianhai ran at high speed toward the core of the realm, leading the group from the Verdant Sword Sect. His eyes burned with determination and excitement. He now possessed 650 points, earned by hunting beasts and, mainly, eliminating other disciples from lesser domains on the edges of the realm. Mo Xia, Long Xue, Shen Yu, and Wu Jian followed closely behind, each with between 400 and 600 points.
"Kyrian must be at the center." Said Mo Tianhai without reducing his speed, his voice full of confidence.
"Where else would he be? Knowing him, he has probably already cleared half the forest."
They did not know what position they were in, nor how many points would be necessary to advance. The Leader of the Ancient Forest Sect had not revealed the exact number of qualifiers, only to accumulate points. But they knew they needed to reach the core. Along the way, they encountered other disciples from rival domains and eliminated them without mercy, absorbing their points in flashes of green light.
At the center, more and more people arrived. New fights erupted between the newcomers and those who were already exhausted. The clearing turned into a whirlpool of violence. Those who arrived saw the chaos and recognized the opportunity to attack the most tired and steal hard-earned points.
Kyrian remained seated, impassive. Watching the fights with a certain fleeting interest, but still more focused on observing those who gradually arrived in the central area. Due to the flashy battles, he was certain that Mo Tianhai and the others would arrive there soon.
Outside, on the Central Plateau, the audience was completely hysterical.
"Look at this! Fifteen more just arrived and already jumped into the fight!"
"They’re killing each other like wild animals! Look at the blood flying!"
"Kyrian is still up there... he hasn’t even blinked! This is absolute madness!"
"Though I would like to see how Kyrian would face the others. Or see everyone join forces to face him since he has the most points, but it seems that won’t happen. We’ll have to wait for the next phase to see Kyrian fighting the others."
In the common stands, Kyrian’s name was repeated like a mantra of admiration and fear.
"That guy is crazy... he has 4.000 points and doesn’t even join the fight!"
"He must be laughing at everyone else fighting down there!"
"Monster... he really is a monster! The Verdant Sword Sect hit the lottery with him!"
In the VIP sections, the leaders murmured louder and louder, their expressions growing increasingly serious.
"This massacre is perfect for filtering out the weak." Commented the Leader of the Ancient Forest Sect, still smiling.
"But Kyrian... he is the true highlight. He doesn’t even need to fight."
The Leader of the Flaming Sword crossed his arms, but there was a glimmer of reluctant respect in his flaming eyes.
"My Huo Ling is doing well... but that boy from the Verdant Sword... I want to see him fighting the others."
As the massacre continued below, Kyrian simply watched the forest horizon, waiting for Mo Tianhai and the others to finally appear.
Suddenly, his eyes narrowed slightly. In the distance, he caught familiar movements, known energies rushing at high speed through the trees. Mo Tianhai led the group, followed by Mo Xia, Long Xue, Shen Yu, and Wu Jian. They were heading straight for the core, eliminating anyone who crossed their path.
Kyrian moved for the first time in hours. He slowly stood up on the branch, looking in their direction.
Below, in the clearing, everyone noticed the movement. The fights stopped almost at the same time. Heads turned upward, wide eyes fixed on the solitary figure who had finally risen.
The silent king had moved.
The tension in the clearing reached a new level.
