Chapter 561: Meeting Gao Ziyue (3)

Chapter 561: Meeting Gao Ziyue (3)

Then, Gao Ziyue asked, her tone becoming more animated.

“So, what kind of weapons did you forge today?”

A faint smile appeared on his face, an expression of satisfaction that he rarely allowed to show.

“Today, I forged a perfect blade for the first time. It was an ordinary sword, without any special spiritual attributes, but Sun Luguo said it had perfect balance, a flawless internal structure, and an impeccable edge.” He paused, remembering the feeling of the hammer in his hand, the sound of the metal beneath each strike.

“Tomorrow I’ll begin learning how to forge spiritual weapons. It’s the next step on the path of a true blacksmith.”

Gao Ziyue smiled so naturally that it seemed to brighten her entire face. She looked even happier than Kyrian himself at the news, as though his achievement were also her own.

“Then congratulations!” Her voice was filled with genuine enthusiasm, without the slightest trace of insincerity.

“I imagine your master must have been very pleased with your progress.”

Kyrian nodded, remembering the moment when Sun Luguo had handed him that thick leather-bound book.

“I believe so.” He paused, reflecting on the meaning behind his master’s gesture.

“He gave me a book containing all of his notes and designs. Decades of experience compiled into a single volume.”

Gao Ziyue fell silent for a moment, processing the significance of that gesture. She understood what it meant for a master to pass down the knowledge he had accumulated over a lifetime to a disciple.

“I’m glad to hear that.” She said, her voice softer now. Then she smiled again, a lighter, more carefree smile.

“Today was a good day for me too.”

Kyrian looked at her curiously, his violet eyes meeting hers.

“Why?”

She looked toward the vast illuminated square, her gaze drifting over the lights, the people, and the towering buildings surrounding them. For a moment, her expression became distant and contemplative.

“Because this is the first time in many years that I’ve talked with a friend, especially outside Azhura’k’s domain.” Her voice was quiet, almost melancholic.

“There, I could forget for a few hours who I was, the weight of my name, the responsibilities I carry. I could simply be… myself.”

She laughed softly, a sound that was sadder than joyful.

“Here, I’m still the Heir of Heaven. Every step, every gesture, and every word is watched, evaluated, and judged. But with you here, I feel like I can forget my status for a little while. I feel like I can simply be Gao Ziyue.”

Kyrian remained silent, her words echoing through his mind. He was beginning to understand a little more about the weight of her position, the price of that inheritance.

She possessed wealth, prestige, power, and everything most cultivators dreamed of obtaining. But she also carried responsibilities that very few people could truly understand, a burden that isolated her from others and prevented her from forming genuine connections.

On top of that, there was the guilt she carried over Azhura’k’s enslavement by her own family. It was a secret she had shared only with him, a wound that had yet to heal.

Gao Ziyue smiled again, as though she had decided not to let melancholy take over the moment.

“Shall we take a walk?” Her voice was lighter now, inviting.

“Of course.” Kyrian replied without hesitation.

The two began walking side by side through the square, their footsteps naturally falling into the same rhythm. Without realizing it, they instinctively matched each other’s pace, as though their bodies already knew how to move together.

She pointed out small establishments along the way, her enthusiasm contagious.

“See that restaurant?” She pointed to a three-story building that was completely packed, radiating a warm, welcoming light. The aroma of spiritual cuisine drifted through the air, rich and tempting.

Kyrian followed the direction she indicated.

“They say the spiritual fish served there is the best in all Five Regions. It’s prepared using a secret technique passed down through generations, and the sauce is made from ingredients that only grow in the northern mountains.”

She smiled, remembering something.

“I ate there once, a few years ago. Of course, while using a disguise. Even so, it still caused quite a commotion.” Her eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief.

Kyrian raised an eyebrow slightly, intrigued.

“A commotion?”

She made a small face, a gesture that somehow made her unexpectedly adorable.

“A member of my family came to find me because of an urgent matter. The moment they realized who I was, the owner closed the entire restaurant, sent every customer away, locked the doors, and prepared a special table just for me.” She sighed, shaking her head.

“It’s really annoying. It’s happened more than once, in different places, under different circumstances. People never treat me normally, even when I try to be invisible.”

Kyrian couldn’t help but smile faintly as he imagined the scene. She seemed pleased to have finally made him smile, her eyes shining with quiet satisfaction.

They continued walking, passing food stalls, street performers manipulating Qi to create glowing figures in the air, and groups of cultivators enthusiastically discussing the day’s events.

After a few moments, Gao Ziyue spoke again, her voice filled with genuine curiosity.

“I’m still curious.”

Kyrian turned toward her.

“About what?”

She looked directly into his eyes, her almond-shaped eyes meeting his violet ones.

“How exactly are you able to find me so easily? And your eyes… this is the first time I’ve ever met someone with an Innate Talent like yours. I’ve heard stories, legends about different Innate Talents, but they always seemed more like myths than reality.”

Kyrian remained silent for a few seconds, considering how to answer.

Then he replied honestly.

“My eyes can see through illusions. It’s not something I consciously control—it’s simply how my vision works. Layers of illusion, disguises, and concealment techniques… they all appear to me as a transparent layer over reality. Like a thin mist that can’t hide what’s behind it.”

She blinked several times, surprised by the honesty of his answer.

“All of them?” Her voice was almost a whisper.

“So far… yes.” Kyrian paused.

“I’ve never encountered an illusion capable of deceiving me completely.”

She remained perfectly still for several seconds, processing the information. Then she let out a soft laugh, a sound filled with pure admiration.

“How fascinating.” She shook her head in amazement.

“My Celestial Physique has always been considered virtually impossible to see through. It’s one of the reasons my family trusts me so much with missions that require discretion. Not even the spiritual sense of cultivators far stronger than me can penetrate the illusion I create.”

She crossed her arms, a gesture that conveyed admiration more than defensiveness.

“And then someone comes along who simply looks at me as though my illusion doesn’t even exist, as though I’m completely exposed before him. It’s… unsettling, to say the least.”
