Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation

Chapter 585: Beast Egg (6)

Chapter 585: Beast Egg (6)

The little creature still seemed sleepy after the tremendous effort of breaking out of the egg. The hatching process had consumed much of her initial energy, and now she needed to rest, recovering her strength for the days to come.

She slowly moved her head from side to side, as if trying to understand her surroundings for the first time, becoming familiar with the scents, the lights, and the presences around her.

Gao Ziyue watched every tiny movement with eyes full of fascination, as if she were witnessing a miracle that would never cease to be special.

Her fingers gently stroked the scales with the utmost delicacy, afraid of applying even the slightest bit too much force, of causing any discomfort to that fragile life that had just entrusted itself to her.

The sensation was curious. The scales were cool at the first touch, smooth and hard like polished stone, but they soon absorbed the warmth of her skin, becoming pleasantly warm, as if the creature were learning how to warm herself through contact.

“How beautiful…” she murmured softly, her voice so gentle that it seemed meant only for the little creature, a secret shared between the two of them.

Kyrian watched her attentively as well, his violet eyes examining every detail with a curiosity he made no effort to hide. The longer he looked, the more unusual she seemed to him, and the more questions arose in his mind.

The four tiny legs were perfectly proportioned to her long body, ending in minuscule, slender, razor-sharp claws, each one a tiny instrument of precision, perfect for climbing, gripping, and exploring the world.

Her head resembled that of a serpent, but it possessed a more elegant shape, with soft, almost delicate features that contrasted with the generally more aggressive nature of reptilian beasts.

But her eyes… her eyes drew attention above all else. They were large for the size of her head, a light golden color reminiscent of the morning sun, as clear as crystal water, intelligent in a way that seemed to transcend the creature’s age.

They seemed to observe everything around her with an almost childlike curiosity, yet also with a depth that suggested understanding, as if she were processing the world in a way ordinary beasts could not.

After several seconds of contemplation, Gao Ziyue spoke again, her voice filled with speculation.

“Could she have a draconic bloodline?”

Kyrian remained silent for a few moments, considering the question. The creature possessed a serpentine body, four legs, and refined scales; everything about her, in one way or another, resembled the ancient descriptions of dragons he had read in books and heard in legends.

The combination of traits seemed almost designed to evoke that association.

Even so, after reflecting for a moment, he slowly shook his head.

“I don’t think so.”

Gao Ziyue turned toward him in surprise.

“No?”

“At least… I don’t believe it’s a direct draconic bloodline.”

She tilted her head slightly, encouraging him to continue.

“Why?”

Kyrian crossed his arms, organizing his thoughts as his mind drifted back to a previous experience. His thoughts automatically returned to the volcanic region where he had fought the Lava Lizard, a creature that, although far removed from true dragons, still carried the echo of their ancient power.

He could still vividly remember that battle, the scorching heat radiating from the beast’s body, the roar that made the ground tremble, and above all, the overwhelming pressure that seemed to come from the creature’s very blood.

“Some time ago, I fought a beast that possessed a draconic bloodline. It wasn’t a true dragon, nor even a close descendant. It was a spiritual lizard whose blood contained only a tiny fraction of an extremely ancient draconic bloodline, diluted over countless generations.”

He paused briefly, recalling the sensation.

“Even so, the pressure that creature gave off was terrifying. It wasn’t just physical strength or spiritual power. It was an instinctive feeling, something that came from a much deeper place. My body reacted on its own. Before my mind could even comprehend the danger, my muscles were already tense, and my survival instincts were already screaming.”

Gao Ziyue listened attentively, her eyes fixed on his face.

Kyrian continued, his voice becoming more reflective.

“It was as if that creature’s very blood commanded the beings around it to kneel, to acknowledge its superiority. An ancient authority that transcended individual will.”

He looked once more at the little serpent, his expression softening.

“But she… doesn’t give off anything like that. There’s no pressure, no ancient aura, no instinct of submission. Only… peace.”

Gao Ziyue lowered her gaze once more to the little beast, considering his words. It was true. She felt no pressure emanating from the creature, no echo of ancient power, no instinctive sense of domination. None of the reverence that accompanied the purest bloodlines.

The little creature simply existed, her presence gentle, almost comforting. There was a purity about her, a simplicity that was rare among spiritual beasts, especially those with such extraordinary potential.

After thinking for a few seconds, Gao Ziyue slowly nodded, acknowledging the truth in his words.

“You’re right. Beasts with extremely ancient bloodlines usually display some kind of innate pressure, even when they’re still hatchlings. It’s a characteristic that comes with their blood, a memory of their powerful ancestors.”

“Some can’t even hide that trait; it reveals itself in every gesture, every glance.”

She gently ran a finger over the little creature’s head, feeling the smooth texture of her scales.

“But she simply seems… peaceful. As if she has nothing to prove, nothing to impose. As if her strength comes from a different place.”

Kyrian nodded.

“Exactly.”

At that moment, the little creature subtly raised her head, as if she had sensed that something important was being said about her. Her tiny nose seemed to sniff the air, picking up the scents around her, processing information that her eyes could not yet fully interpret.

Then, with surprising determination for her size, she slowly slid out of Gao Ziyue’s palm, moving with the natural grace of a creature that already knew its own body.

The two followed her movements in silence, curious to see what she would do.

The serpent carefully approached the fragments of the egg scattered across the table, her golden eyes fixed on the purple pieces gleaming beneath the light. She sniffed one of them, her snout twitching slightly as she processed the scent.

Then she opened her little mouth and took a bite.

‘Crack.’

The sound was surprisingly crisp in the silence of the room, like a stone splitting apart. She chewed slowly, her jaws moving with an efficiency that seemed beyond her age. Then she swallowed, the motion flowing smoothly down her throat.

Without the slightest hesitation, without the slightest pause, she picked up another piece. Then another. Then another, each bite just as determined as the first.

Kyrian watched with curiosity, leaning forward slightly to get a better look.

“She’s…”

Gao Ziyue smiled, a smile that blended knowledge with affection.

“Eating her own shell.”

He raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

“Is that normal?”

“Very much so. Many spiritual beasts do that immediately after hatching. It’s an instinctive behavior passed down through generations of evolution.”
