Chapter 473: Reunion, a visit from the ancestor
Chapter 473: Reunion, a visit from the ancestor
Boom!
The sky above the sealed Dragon Secret Realm burst wide open. Inside the desolate space sat two individuals, their limbs bound by heavy chains, yet their faces held a calm, determined resolve.
The instant the sky cracked, their expressions twisted in alarm. However, Melissa and Wang Lin’s alarm quickly shifted to pure shock. Floating above them was a massive army of one million Nexus Angels and a colossal dragon covered in glowing cosmic rings. Resting casually on the beast’s back was a figure Wang Lin found deeply familiar. Standing right behind him was Alissa.
Wang Lin’s pupils constricted when he saw the youth sitting atop the dragon. He gulped heavily. "G-Grey?"
He felt like he was hallucinating. Just as quickly, the heavy cuffs binding him and Melissa shattered. Their restrictive effects reached finality and withered away into dust.
They both blinked in disbelief. Just then, a slender figure shot down from the sky, diving straight into Melissa’s embrace.
"Alissa!" cried Melissa. She was a beautiful woman who looked to be in her early twenties, bearing an eerie resemblance to Alissa but radiating a much warmer, kinder aura.
However, Wang Lin’s attention was not on the emotional reunion. His gaze remained locked on the surreal Nexus Angels and the terrifying dragon. Sitting at the apex of it all was his son.
No matter how much the boy’s appearance had changed, Wang Lin knew exactly who it was. Grey Lockhart!
Grey stared down at Wang Lin in silence. In the next moment, his figure flickered, and he reappeared right next to his father.
"You left without saying a single word," Grey said softly.
"I did, did I not?" Wang Lin sighed, his shoulders slumping. "I am sorry. To both of you. Truly."
Wang Lin’s figure trembled lightly, as if he were on the verge of bursting into tears.
"Why are you crying? You are a thousand-year-old monster. Is crying something a senior expert should be doing?" Grey asked, genuinely speechless.
His father was a middle 6th Ranker. His strength was impressive, especially considering he had been inactive for over seventeen years, yet he still managed to claw his way back to his peak.
Melissa, who was gently comforting Alissa, was a peak 6th Ranker. That made logical sense. She had the opportunity to cultivate in this sealed realm, where the ambient cosmic energy was incredibly dense.
"Grey, who are those beings behind you? Are they from a different universe?" Wang Lin could not help but ask.
"No," Alissa answered from the comfort of her mother’s warm embrace.
The Dragon Clan had previously orchestrated their meetings to force compliance. In truth, her mother was kept in strict servitude, suffering a fate worse than a mere maid. Wang Lin had broken into the Dragon World trying to rescue her, but ultimately failed.
Hearing Alissa speak, her parents turned toward her.
"Those one million angelic figures you see in the air? Those are devils he summoned straight from hell," Alissa explained with a completely deadpan face. "That terrifying dragon is also his summon."
She paused for a moment before dropping the final bombshell. "And he just eliminated the entire Dragon Clan."
"What?" Wang Lin and Melissa looked at Alissa with deep concern. They could clearly sense the auras. Grey was younger, and his baseline aura felt weaker than hers. Alissa was already at the fifth level of the 5th Rank.
Grey just sighed. He slowly unleashed his glowing Saintly Halos, which instantly resonated with the million Nexus Angels and the Beast of Finality. They all bowed their heads toward Grey in perfect unison.
Both Melissa and Wang Lin’s minds short-circuited at the majestic sight. They opened their mouths to speak but could not find the words. Alissa also watched him with a complicated expression.
"It is a very long story," Grey said, glancing at his bewildered father. "But starting today, there is no more Dragon Clan. The only lingering threat we have left is the so-called Dragon Ancestor descending from the higher worlds to deal with me."
Grey sighed. But he had a supreme trump card of his own: his grandfather, the Arclight Immortal! His dad probably knew the exact method to summon him.
"Well, for now, you all should stay here and catch up. I have some business to handle back on the Origin Planet." Grey’s figure vanished, and the Beast of Finality and the Nexus Angels disappeared right alongside him.
Back on the Origin Planet, nobody had dared to move an inch. Twenty full minutes had passed, yet the massive stadium remained dead silent. Every single spectator was still staring blankly up at the empty sky.
In the very next moment, a pillar of divine light shot down from the stars. Grey rematerialized with his awe-inspiring cosmic army. Everyone in the vicinity shivered involuntarily at his oppressive presence.
The Grand Arbiter stared at Grey with a grim, serious expression.
"You know, you have been pretty useless this entire time, right?" Grey noted casually, glancing at the alliance overseer.
"I..." The Grand Arbiter wanted to defend himself, but the words died in his throat.
"It does not matter," Grey chuckled softly. "I know you are not the real leader around here."
"Is that not right, old man?" Grey shifted his gaze to the empty space beside the Arbiter.
Space rippled, revealing an elderly man draped in a simple white robe. He wore a tranquil smile and possessed noticeably long earlobes.
"It sure is good to be young and bold," the old man laughed heartily. "You may call me the Yellow Ancestor. I am one of the many human ancestors guiding the Pan-Cosmic Human Alliance."
The old man’s expression turned somber. "Grey Arclight. I thank you for saving the alliance from the Great Heretic Tian Yuan and the Abyssal God."
Grey observed him in silence. This old man was a genuine 8th Ranker. The temporal fluctuations surrounding his body were so dense that Grey was certain a time-stop ability would have zero effect on him.
"But at the same time, you single-handedly waged war against the dragons and wiped them from the cosmos. Are you not afraid of the Dragon Ancestor’s wrath? He is one of the elite few who transcended into the higher worlds," the old man inquired, his hollow eyes completely devoid of ripples.
"No," Grey grinned. "You, being an 8th Ranker, should know exactly who my grandfather is."
"Well said!" The Yellow Ancestor laughed aloud, clearly amused. "Then, do you care to have a private discussion with me and the other ancestors? This matter heavily concerns Finality."
"You, who bears the Crown of Finality, should understand the cosmic consequences of keeping that beast by your side," the elder added.
"I am aware," Grey replied with a faint smile.
This was not a polite invitation. Even if he wanted to refuse and run away, he lacked the strength. The elder standing in front of him was on an entirely different level of existence. Grey knew he could not defeat an 8th Ranker right now.
"We will depart right after I speak with my family," Grey stated.
The Yellow Ancestor merely nodded, indifferent to such mortal attachments.
Grey turned his attention to Anderson, who was still staring at him in a bewildered daze. "Dad. I am going with the Yellow Ancestor to meet the other founders."
"I wish I could have done better by you..." Anderson murmured, heaving a heavy sigh of regret.
"What are you talking about?" Grey asked, genuinely dumbfounded. "What is up with all these grown men crying today?"
Anderson almost choked on his own guilt. This kid... he still had the exact same sharp tongue.
"We must have a lengthy talk after all this business is concluded," Anderson added, steadying himself.
"Sure." Grey then softly informed him about the situation, confirming that Alissa, Melissa, and Wang Lin were safe in the Dragon Realm.
Anderson nodded in firm affirmation. "I will make the necessary travel arrangements to bring them home."
"Well then, let us head off," the Yellow Ancestor said warmly.
He glanced at the Grand Arbiter. "Matthew, postpone the tournament for a day. Resume the matches tomorrow. The Dragon Maiden will be back by then, and the planetary atmosphere should return to normal."
With that final instruction, space seamlessly folded around the Yellow Ancestor and Grey, and the two vanished from the Origin Planet.
