Chapter 474: Source Magic and Power Index
Whoosh!
Grey felt the fabric of reality glitching rapidly around him. In the next moment, he stood in a place that appeared to be a massive singularity. Nearby was a swirling, gargantuan black hole, surrounded by several permanent spatial cracks tearing through the void.
"Welcome to the edge of the world," the Yellow Ancestor said with a small chuckle. "Normally, not even a 7th Ranker can reach this place. Our universe is ever-expanding, stretching outward far faster than their top speed. Only those who have reached the threshold where they can pierce through the river of time and space can arrive here."
"What about surpassing space-time altogether?" Grey inquired curiously. "When does one transcend the very concept of it?"
"The 8th Rank is still far too early for that," the Yellow Ancestor said with a warm laugh. "You have to wait until you become a much higher existence. We are still insignificant compared to those entities. The Higher World is immense. Even the weakest envoy there could crush anyone from our universe. A single move from them could erase our reality."
Grey gulped upon hearing this truth. Having just reached the 5th Rank and possessing the battle power of a 6th Rank powerhouse, it was definitely terrifying to know how vast the gap still was.
"Yellow Ancestor, do we advance to the Higher World directly after the 8th Rank?" Grey could not help but ask.
"No." He shook his head. "The 8th Rank is just a massive threshold one must cross to step out into the chaotic, endless reality branches outside our universe. Of course, there are specific means to ascend early. Your grandfather and the Dragon Ancestor used those exact methods to reach the Higher World. In short, connections." The Yellow Ancestor laughed knowingly.
"Come, let us go meet the other ancestors now. Thinking about the 8th Rank is still too early for you. You just anchored your existence. This is your First Transcendence. Your casual movement can defy the speed of light and shatter space with your bare hands. This is the ultimate sign that you are no longer an ordinary mortal. You have touched the threshold of a higher power."
"The others are a bit far from here. Why do you not test your new speed out a bit? You currently possess a battle aura at the 6th Rank level. Let us see if your speed matches it. Shoot straight into that black hole," the Yellow Ancestor suggested with an encouraging smile.
"Will do," Grey smiled in anticipation.
Actually, he could achieve 6th Rank speed without even relying on his Saintly Halo buff. He just needed his Nexus Overclock and something entirely new.
Source Magic!
He had awakened this profound ability after breaking through to the 5th Rank. Source Magic meant deriving raw, conceptual power directly from the origin of a concept. Such as...
[Source Magic: Redline] Frequency twisted and turned as boundless power surged directly into Grey’s core. Just as quickly, the glowing circuits of the Nexus Overclock emerged across his skin.
Boom!
Space crackled and tore apart as his figure stretched, breaking the light barrier in an instant as he shot toward the black hole. Starlight blurred into infinite streaks without a single pause. He was already diving directly into the event horizon. A massive gravitational pulling force tried to shred his body apart, but his raw speed outpaced the gravitational pull itself.
Boom!
A blinding white light appeared within his vision as his figure, traveling countless times faster than light, shot straight into it. Redline amplified his movement speed by a flat five hundred percent. A five hundred percent multiplier on his already monstrous baseline speed was simply terrifying.
As he was right now, he could cross from one galaxy to another in mere minutes. He could traverse an entire star region in approximately ninety seconds.
Whrmm!
Grey’s figure rematerialized the instant he pierced through the blinding light. Right now, he was standing in a strange dimension with an endless landmass and a sky that stretched on for infinity. But in the dead center of it all sat a massive, glowing crystal stone.
The exact instant he laid his eyes on the crystal, he felt a dormant power trigger within his mind.
[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing the Reality Law Crystal, your comprehension over the fundamental laws of reality is being significantly increased.]
[You have comprehended the Law of Darkness to minor mastery.]
[You have comprehended the Law of Light to minor mastery.]
[You have comprehended the Law of Magnetism to minor mastery.]
[You have comprehended the Law of Vibration to minor mastery.]
The flood of notifications kept rolling in, but then, a firm hand pulled Grey back by the shoulder.
"I suggest not staring too deeply into the crystal," the Yellow Ancestor said with a knowing smile. "That artifact holds a terrifying concept called the Myriad Law of Chaos. The tournament reward for the Pan-Cosmic Human Alliance was actually extracted directly from this Reality Crystal. It contains all the possible laws of our baseline reality. Well, most of them anyway. It does not contain higher powers like the Grand Dao, Divine Laws, or Source Laws found in the Immortal World, the Source World, or the God World. Those are special realms that sit at an elevation even higher than the standard Higher World I mentioned before."
"You know about those worlds?" Grey was genuinely stunned.
"I have some fragmented knowledge about them. I read about it in an ancient archive left behind by the Mecha Race," the Yellow Ancestor said calmly. "It looks like Alissa Evernight told you about her true origins."
The Yellow Ancestor was certain that Grey learned of this deep lore from Alissa, the girl who awakened as a True Dragon. Grey had singled her out from the dragon slaughter and acted quite protective of her. Perhaps this young genius had taken a liking to the girl? Regardless, it was obvious to the elder that this restricted knowledge came from her.
"Also, your movement speed is not bad at all," the Yellow Ancestor complimented with a smile. "It managed to reach 2A. That is the standard speed a 1st level 6th Ranker would possess."
"What is 2A?" Grey asked, dumbfounded.
