Chapter 544: The Complexity of the endless reality
Whoosh!
The reality ship swept past countless galaxies in a matter of minutes. Soon, they were met with a thin, shimmering membrane situated at the absolute edge of the universe.
"This is the membrane of the universe," Alan spoke, explaining to everyone gathered on the bridge. "This is what keeps the universe from merging with the destructive chaos outside."
"It is also what protects us from Chaos Beast invasions."
"This membrane is completely made up of Origin Power. Without this, the universe would have already ended."
"As long as you also possess Origin Power, you can freely leave this universe."
"But of course, that comes with its own set of troubles."
"In the outside world, you need a Chaos Body just to even survive. The Chaos Body is achieved at the metamorphosis of the ninth rank, where one steps into the raw chaos outside and forges a new vessel for themselves."
"It is a path that allows you to survive the endless reality’s destructive force outside the universes, and it also makes you exponentially stronger."
"There is a saying: eighth rankers cannot contend with a ninth ranker no matter what, because a Chaos Body exists on a completely different scale."
"The Chaos Body by itself is just a broad term," Alan added. "For example, I forged the Chaos Mind using the Esper path for my evolutionary route."
"Immortals form the Chaos Immortal Physique. Martial artists form the Martial Chaos Body."
"Interesting," Grey commented, clearly impressed by the vastness of the evolutionary journey.
The reality ship soon broke out of the origin universe’s membrane. As soon as it did, Alan casually clapped his hands, and the entire hull of the ship became perfectly transparent.
His grand-disciples screamed in sudden shock. Below their feet, there was nothing but the swirling, abyssal void of chaos.
"Calm down." Grey glanced at them with a reassuring smile. "It is just transparency mode."
"Look behind you, everyone," Grey said with a narrowed, focused gaze.
He was observing the glowing sphere of light they had just emerged from.
The glowing light looked incredibly tiny adrift in the boundless chaos. The actual physical distance between the ship and the universe was not much, but once they stepped outside its conceptual bounds, the universe shrank to a size seemingly even smaller than the ship itself.
This was the main world they lived in. A realm filled with countless stars, sprawling galaxies, and trillions of living beings. It was incredible, to say the least.
Everyone’s eyes lingered on their universe for a long while.
It looked so tiny, like a fragile, glowing marble, yet it was infinitely huge on the inside. They were all beings born from this universe. Everyone felt a profound wave of emotion seeing their entire reality reduced to a speck of light.
"The world is truly a mysterious place," Alan spoke with a nostalgic smile. "In the end, this is just one of the many origin universes."
Sighing, he turned back to Grey.
"We will now undergo descension into a lower plane of existence. We will have to tunnel through this chaos and reach the lower plane’s dimensional anchor point."
"Tunneling? Huh." Grey nodded.
All of this was entirely new to him, and honestly speaking, it was a very enlightening experience.
He could use this time to familiarize himself with how reality ships and dimensional tunneling actually functioned. He had not deeply observed their exact mechanics before, but once he learned the underlying principles, he planned to develop a superior reality ship of his own.
Alan took control of the ship’s console. With a wave of his hand, several complex commands were fed into the ship. It rapidly picked up momentum in the chaotic void. The following moment, a blinding beam of concentrated energy shot from the center of the ship.
Directly in front of them, a massive, swirling hole cracked open in the fabric of the chaos. The void was literally being torn apart.
The following instant, the ship shot into the newly formed tunnel, which was thickly lined with stabilizing Origin Power.
The reality ship began to shake and rattle rapidly as it descended through the dimensional layers.
"The coordinates you provided are located in the seventh plane of existence. The maximum power one can induce there without consequence is that of the seventh rank. If I were to fully unleash my eighth-rank power, I would potentially destroy half of that entire plane of existence. Because I am already past their universal limit."
Grey nodded in understanding.
In a lower universe, you were a god, but in your own higher realm, you were just a small fry.
The old saying, "There are always bigger fish in the sea," could not be more accurate right now.
Soon, they breached the end of the tunnel.
Grey instantly felt as if heavy, invisible shackles around his body had been completely released.
His latent power expanded exponentially now that he was in a lesser plane of existence.
To put it into perspective, if he had the power to destroy a galaxy in his old world, he could easily obliterate a whole universe with a snap of his fingers here. Or, in broader terms, if it took his full strength to destroy a simple rock in a higher plane of existence, that exact same force could shatter a massive mountain here.
That was the stark disparity between a higher plane and a lower plane. Attacks carried an infinitely more devastating effect in a lower realm.
Boom!
Once the ship fully entered the lower plane of existence, several vibrant lights lit up across the dark expanse of this new world.
"Another fun fact about a lower plane of existence is that it is always tethered to a higher one," Alan added, pointing out the window at one of the nearby, exceptionally bright stars.
"Those universes are connected to a higher plane of existence at the eighth layer. That one is connected to a universe at the ninth layer, and that universe is precisely connected to the main world universe we originally came from."
"That is one of the many natural ways to descend down the planes of existence. But finding the spatial window is much harder than simply using a reality ship."
"Does that mean people from here can ascend to higher worlds as well?" Grey asked.
"Yes," Alan nodded. "There are plenty of ascenders residing in our universe itself. They even have their own established communities and factions with their respective 8th rank ancestors."
"Oh, wow." Grey was genuinely amazed. The endless reality was quite vast, was it not?
It even had its own network of ascenders.
"Does that mean we too can ascend to a higher world once we reach the tenth rank threshold?"
"You do not even need to reach the tenth rank threshold," Alan said while shaking his head slowly. "Due to some catastrophic incidents that happened in the tenth plane of existence long ago, there is not much opportunity for a ninth ranker to survive there, let alone reach the tenth rank."
"Hence, after reaching the ninth rank, people usually bypass it and jump straight to the eleventh plane of existence, as it is much easier to evolve there. You will not face the same crushing oppression of reality either."
"That is what the vast majority of ancestors from the main world did. They jumped to the eleventh plane of existence."
"Oh." Grey nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the vast cosmic history.
