Chapter 578: Helios, 12th plane of existence, 10th ranking seniors
Chapter 578: Helios, 12th plane of existence, 10th ranking seniors
The transfer to Helios was straightforward. This time, Grey wasn’t alone. Alissa had come along with him, saying she wanted to see the place where the people from his world gathered, and to see whether they were all as strange and powerful as he was.
They all stepped into the world source power portal together. The Spirit Ancestor was with them as well. Apparently, he had some business of his own to handle in Helios.
Throughout the trip, Alissa stayed close to Grey, throwing random glares at Islode, who glared right back at her. The two grown adults were locked in a glaring war for reasons Grey could not grasp at all. He decided it was safer not to ask.
Then their vision began to shift drastically. The moment it did, Alissa felt dizzy and immediately clutched onto Grey.
This was normal. Even Grey had felt disoriented the first time he entered the portal.
Sensing her state, Grey swiftly took hold of Alissa, keeping her from slipping into the chaos outside. That was something that could very well happen if one wasn’t careful, and the chaos outside the transit stream was nothing a person could simply swim back out of.
Alissa felt Grey holding tightly onto her, anchoring her amidst the disorienting spin of their transit. As the turbulence finally began to settle, her tense expression softened into a small sigh of relief.
Once their blurred vision cleared, they found themselves standing in a place that looked, at first glance, like any other planet. But as they truly took in their surroundings, they realized the landscape was far vaster than any world they had ever known. The ground stretched endlessly toward a horizon that seemed to defy physical limits. Standing right there, they could clearly see places that were several light years away, and every one of those impossibly distant locations held some massive glowing structure or distinct engineered region built into it. Distance itself seemed to mean something different here.
It was, without a doubt, a highly advanced technological realm as well. Grey gazed outward and saw colossal skyscrapers built from gleaming alien alloys, shooting straight up and piercing the sky. Above the towering skyline, the atmosphere hummed with constant, heavy traffic. Massive spaceships soared in and out of the world, moving with a speed that visibly warped the space around them. Watching the unique energy ripples they created as they breached the atmosphere, Grey understood at a glance that these were reality ships.
"Welcome to the 12th plane of existence," the Spirit Ancestor spoke. "You must have noticed it already, Saint Grey. Your powers are heavily restricted here, aren’t they?"
"Yep. I can sense it," Grey replied.
The powers he possessed were far more restricted than before. The suppression wasn’t violent or forceful. It was simply the natural weight of this plane pressing down on everything within it, the same way water pressed down on whatever sank into the deep sea.
If it was already like this here, he couldn’t imagine the higher worlds that existed in a completely different space-time.
The scale of existence was truly endless, and now that he stood in the 12th plane himself, he finally understood it. Even his dao generation power was not enough here.
His speed was severely dulled, and so was his ability to manipulate space. The space of this plane was simply far more stable, woven tighter than anything he had touched before.
Speaking of which, it might finally be time to comprehend the Divine Law of Space. It would be useful in places exactly like this one. It could match a Great Circle expert, after all. And if he pushed it to Major, it could directly transcend into the dao stages.
Alissa, meanwhile, had not yet realized the full effects of the 12th plane of existence.
In this realm, a 5th rank being was considered the starting point. That was the rule of this place. The dao here, along with the powerhouses dwelling in this plane, had long normalized being born with 5th rank strength. The reason was simple. A 4th rank simply could not survive in this space-time continuum. Their bodies would be ground down by the sheer density of reality itself.
"Don’t let go, Alissa," Grey said with a careful smile. "This place is like the World Tree world. It will take time to get used to it."
"You can hold tightly onto my hand," he added with a laugh. "Or I can princess carry you as well. Your wish."
"Hmph." Alissa blushed hearing this. "W-What are you saying in front of people?"
But she still didn’t let go of him, holding on tightly with a small blush on her face.
Did this shameless brute have no shame at all? Saying such things in front of others? She was genuinely embarrassed.
Seeing her like this, Grey immediately wanted to pat her head and pinch her cheeks. She was the cutest when she was angry. That’s what he thought. Others loved her for her indifferent persona, but he loved her for her angry side. And in truth, this easily flustered, easily angered Alissa was her real self. The cold front she showed the rest of the world was merely armor.
Islode watched the two of them with open envy. It was obvious they liked each other, a youthful romance blooming right in front of her eyes.
She was young too, just like these two. But the person she had set her eyes on never cared about things like romance. The leader of Helios had a brick for a brain when it came to matters of the heart.
She had it hard. The leader had plenty of people chasing after him, yet among all of them, the one he spoke with the most was undoubtedly her. She believed that one day she would break through that brick and grab his heart for herself. She was just afraid it might come too late. At his pace, it might take several million years.
Such a youthful romance was simply not destined for her, not in this life and not in her previous one. She sighed quietly.
"Come on, let’s take you to the headquarters," Islode said, shaking off her thoughts. "This is my private quarters on this planet. I came to your world directly from my home."
No one had a problem with that, and they swiftly made their way over. The headquarters was massive and towering, though it wasn’t as big as a mountain or anything of that sort.
The planet itself, named Helios, was huge and vast, while this particular headquarters was allocated to and accessible only by Earth transmigrators.
This planet could be considered a universe by itself. It held more power and resources than the entire 10th plane universe they had come from. And beyond that, the planet had several other universes tied to it, which the leader of Helios had handed over to Earth transmigrators with unique paths of their own, letting them spread their dao and grow for the sake of the future ultimate leap.
As soon as they entered the headquarters, two people greeted them.
Joshua and Misty.
"Who is this, Islode?" Joshua asked with a frown as he eyed Grey.
Then his gaze shifted. "You’re here as well, Little Spirit Elf." The young-looking Joshua glanced at the Spirit Ancestor, a fabled existence in his own right, and spoke with plain indifference.
"Greetings, Senior Joshua. I hope your evolution has been going smoothly," the Spirit Ancestor said with a polite smile.
The man standing before them was a 10th rank. A true senior of Helios. Even a fabled existence like the Spirit Ancestor had to lower his head before him.
After their exchange, Islode finally spoke. "This is Grey. He’s an Earth transmigrator I found."
"Oh?" Joshua raised an eyebrow and examined Grey more closely. "Not bad. 7th rank, huh?"
"So how is he, Islode? Does he need some roughening up?" The girl beside him, Misty, also a 10th rank, asked with a grin as she punched her fists together. "Don’t worry, beating up delusional fellow Earth citizens is my favorite hobby these days."
"Just because they have a system, they think they own the world. Only a thorough roughening up can fix that."
"I’m a very humble man," Grey said with a small smile. "I’m not arrogant at all, Miss. You can count on that."
"Oh? Is that so?" Misty raised an eyebrow, clearly interested.
"We won’t know that until we hear it from Islode, will we?" Joshua cut in. "Lesson one of Helios. Don’t speak ahead when the seniors of the establishment are speaking."
"Remember that well, newbie," Joshua said with indifference.
"Alright." Grey took no offense and replied with the same easy smile on his face.
Just then, a robot appeared before them.
The instant it did, everyone in the room froze.
"Boss!" The Spirit Ancestor, Joshua, Islode, and Misty all snapped to attention and saluted in an instant.
The robot ignored them entirely. It was looking only at Grey, with complicated eyes.
"Come to my office. I want to speak with you personally." The leader’s voice came through it, youthful yet deep.
Hearing this, Joshua, Islode, Misty, and the Spirit Ancestor were all taken aback.
The boss wanted to meet with the newbie?
It had been a very, very long time since the boss paid attention to any new transmigrator. He was always buried in his own matters. Yet now he was personally summoning a newcomer on the day of his arrival?
Joshua’s expression immediately changed.
