Chapter 2983: A Failed Attempt

"If choosing is already difficult then I should definitely try searching for the exact location of the soul fragment first." Adrian stated as he might as well take his chances in securing the location of the soul fragment since he has a way to pinpoint it anyways.

Adrian stood up and then stretched his body before calling all of his soulbounds back to his soul chambers. He then proceeded to have Sirius in his shadow, Kanlaon wrapped around his neck, and Charon with him for defense. Charon actually transformed itself into a chain wrapped in miasma and became Adrian’s other belt which looked really cool.

Adrian did not know that Charon had this ability since this is the first time he has seen it. This might have been something that he acquired because he was practicing polymorph to a high degree. When Charon is polymorphed as a belt chain, he can still use some of his abilities despite limited to Adrian’s body. His own existence is also hidden which makes this a very good way to fool the enemies wary of Adrian.

"I guess we are ready. Let us go." Adrian stated as he created a rift let it swallow him.

Adrian is suddenly transported to the southern continent and is now in the northern part of it where most civilizations have gathered. It is also the place where the divine beings with a more benevolent nature reside. Still, benevolence does not always equal to no hostility as they will definitely kill Adrian if he acts like a madman. He even felt the piercing stares of the divine beings in the southern continent as soon as he appeared as if they were always ready for him.

"Did someone install a rift detecting barrier or something?" Adrian muttered as he knows this could easily be the case.

The Daemos Elders have always told Adrian that they do not do jobs in the southern continent much because the rifts there practically close a day or so. It seems that the elders already knew that the southern continent was more special than the other continents even before when the world is not back to its prime. The elders have already known that there are gods roaming the southern continent despite the restriction of the world barrier.

He did not ask any questions about that as he felt it was troublesome but he is now regretting it. He should have at least learned why the southern continent has a vastly thinner protection from the world barrier. It was like they were the weakest point of the barrier yet there were no dark or distorted gods that descend here.

He can also think of another hypothesis and that is the descent of a dark god and distorted god cannot be done easily. Gods cannot descend just because they want to as there need to be conditions that need to be satisfied. One way is for the believers to actually call for the god they worship and use their own faith as energy for the god to descend.

The fact that no dark or distorted god has descended to the southern continent is maybe due to no one summoning for them in the first place. The religion of the southern continent must have been so solid that no other gods can be added. He did learn that there are lots of gods and goddesses in the southern continent which means all bases must have been covered. The people no longer needed to add more because there were already plenty of them.

The forceful way is the other way which does not need the faith of the believers and that is to have the god themselves descend. The problem with this method is that they would need to sacrifice a vast amount of their divine energy to make this happen. They will need to repel the restrictive power of the world barrier after all.

The dark gods and distorted gods will not resort to this tactic because they can be easily killed by demigods and other lesser gods. If that happens then these beings can steal the divinity that they have by killing them. In essence, the dark gods and distorted gods would basically be serving themselves for other divine beings. This is the reason why they will not use this method unless they are confident that they can hide or survive the hunt of other divine beings.

"Anyways, I have already gotten sidetracked. Since no one is coming to me despite them knowing that I am here, they must be observing me for now. I guess that is good for me though because this works out for me very much." Adrian stated as he created the Location Lock spell using runes once again but he used his own blood as the medium.

Since his blood contains the essence of an Asmodian, the Location Lock spell will surely look for the greatest number of traces regarding an Asmodian. It could be an item that has their auras, a living being with their soul, or even the most inconspicuous rock at the sidewalk. This will lock on to everything that has the properties of an Asmodian.

Adrian’s spell only locked into the northern part of the southern continent because this is where the soul fragment could be felt. He already felt this when he went to the southern continent before. He always looked towards the north as if something is pulling him towards this direction. He thought that he would not need the locator spell but the instinctive pull vanished when he arrived in the northern part.

He could not pinpoint the location of the source of the pull which is why he decided to use a magic circle that can accurately pinpoint everything as long as they have the same property. A custom locator spell that he modified himself called the Location Lock. If Adrian actually revealed this magic circle, then a lot of the pompous grand mages in the central continent would be bowing towards him for their inferiority.

Since he got the location, Adrian did not waste any time and unfurled his wings because he will directly fly to that location now. He was about to blitz through the skies when numerous divine beings materialized around him. All of them had the power of a lesser god at the minimum with a greater god powerhouse leading them.

"We want you to stop what you are about to do, Mediator of Death." A voice suddenly rang inside of Adrian’s head as the being before him was speaking through telepathy.

Adrian stopped in his tracks and searched for the owner of the voice and it was none other than a being that looked like he is filled with compassion. He is also in a sitting position with a beautiful lotus flower as a platform. His voice did not contain hostility when he spoke to Adrian which is why he reluctantly agreed.

"Seeing that you know me yet stop me means that you wish for me to abide by your rules." Adrian stated as his words made the other lesser gods look at him with a bit of hostility.

"All of you please stand down. We should never be hostile to the Mediator of Death." The god sitting on the lotus flower stated which made the hostility of the other gods die down but their wariness of him is still present.

"Seeing that they are very obedient to you. You must be someone that is quite high up in the ranks." Adrian stated bluntly which made the other gods and goddesses around him frown as his tone did not have any hint of respect but there was also no hint of disrespect.

"You can say that this lowly one does have an important station. I am one of the protectors of the southern continent. We wish for you to state what your plan is and why you have used a strange spell earlier." The god seating on the lotus flower stated.

"I see they did not know it is a simple locator spell. They might think that it is somewhat hostile because it is chaos energy that was used to fuel it." Adrian thought.

"Do you swear not to attack me or even trap me should I say what it really is?" Adrian asked.

"As long as the mediator tells the truth then do not have anything against it." The god seating on a lotus flower stated.

"I hope that you keep your word. What I used is a simple locator spell. For the uses, it is best for all of you to not know but know that it is merely a spell that looks for something." Adrian stated.

"This demon is surely lying! We should kill him here!" One of the gods finally exploded as Adrian’s tone and words did not carry any hint of respect that they can no longer ignore.
