Chapter 2984: A Failed Attempt II

"STOP!" The voice of the god sitting in a lotus flower shouted as his compassionate tone suddenly became fierce and wild.

"You all should listen to your father." Adrian stated in a rather mocking tone but he was hiding behind bravado because he knew that he cannot go against these many gods and goddesses by himself.

To make matters worse for Adrian, these gods and goddesses that presented themselves were not the only ones that are here. There were many more that were hiding from his sight which he did not expect. Adrian is basically caught in a trap and has already failed in attempting to quietly take the soul fragment that he needed. The only reason that he has not attacked anyone is also due to one reason.

If a god or goddess dares to attack Adrian without so much as a warning then he would be able to bend the rules a little bit. He will be able to use the authority given to him as the Mediator of Death. This authority grows more powerful as long as Adrian follows the rules. It is also one of the reasons why he does not go full on battle junkie against other divine beings.

You could say that his greatest leash is also the one that gives him the greatest edge against divine beings. He usually saves this loophole when he is against other divine beings he cannot easily defeat. It is also a way for him to make sure to that he is protected against other gods. After all, gods and goddesses have the ability to injure the souls of mortals.

It is no longer a secret that a player with their soul being injured would regress a lot of levels. If their soul completely shattered then they have a month to basically collect all the broken parts or else their accounts will be deleted. This is why there are not many players that want to antagonize the gods that descended despite some of them being known. The risk is so great that the reward actually pales in comparison.

The god sitting on the lotus flower did not stop the other gods and goddesses because he was worried for Adrian. He stopped his allies because he was worried for them as they have heard of the Mediator of Death after all. Even if the gods do not want to admit it but they fear the two Mediators that were elected by the Twin Gods. They fear the Mediator of Death even more for he has energies in his body that could truly destroy gods and goddesses.

The god sitting on the lotus flower also knew that the soul of the Mediator of Death is heavily protected by the blessings of Death as he could see it. The god sitting on the lotus flower has the ability to see through the special properties of the souls of other beings. He actually hurt his eyes when he looked towards Adrian’s soul as his special ocular negation skill activated.

[You stare at the Abyss and the Abyss stares back.]

The phrase that pops up always when someone uses an ocular skill on Adrian popped up. He looked around but there was no one present before him that screamed in pain so he thought that it must have been another god or goddess far from him. What he did not know is that the god that checked his soul out was before him but had their eyes closed to hide the fact that it was burning.

"Leave now, mediator. We shall overlook this transgression." The god seating on the lotus flower stated.

Adrian looked around and then stared at everyone there could be seen slightly wary of him. They wanted to look into the eyes of the demon before them but there was something inside of them telling them to look away. In the end, the gods and goddesses around him did not look him in the eyes but averted it to his wings or his chest.

"And If I do not?" Adrian asked to test the waters but it was not the gods around him that answered.

The skies parted ways and a thunder parted it cleanly as a gigantic body made of cosmic light appeared before them. All of the gods and goddesses around Adrian suddenly trembled as all of them knelt before their supreme god. This was the manifestation of the true form of one of the god kings living in the southern continent.

"If you do not then my lightning shall strike you down, mediator." The voice that sounded like rolling thunder echoed in the area.

Sirius, Kanlaon, and Charon had to deploy their energies to protect Adrian from the silent attack that slammed his body. All of a sudden, the barriers that protected Adrian shattered in an instant as it was also meant as a warning. A warning that he should not be pushing his luck any further.

"Since all of you are asking nicely and even showing respect then I shall go for now. Please expect my return, God King Indra. I wish all of you well." Adrian stated as he gave a slight bow to the god king that actually manifested their true body towards him.

Adrian’s eyes did not burn nor his body catch in flames for staring at the true body of a god king. He has already transcended the body of a pure mortal after all and demons are more resistant to divine energy anyways. He created a rift that swallowed his body once more and vanished from the spot.

The gods and goddesses that were around Adrian cheered as they were able to make the fierce demon that slaid gods to retreat. The God King Indra vanished from the skies and it returned back to normal. The gods and goddesses continued on their joyful reverie despite they were actually the ones that are pushed back.

The god seating in the lotus flower finally let go of the façade he was keeping up as tears of gold ran down his eyes. The gods and goddesses cheering suddenly quieted down as they saw one of the protectors injured in the eyes. They did not know how their compassionate protector got hurt but that made their happiness turn to rage. The god seated on the lotus flower is one of the most beloved gods of their pantheon after all.

"Lord Avalokiteshvara! Let us go to have your injury taken care of. If we knew that he hurt you then we would have at least took one arm!" One of the lesser gods shouted as they supported their beloved protector god.

"This injury was not done by the visitor. This injury is the result of my own lack of understanding. Do not plant seeds of hatred to the demon that came as he did not do anything bad. If he did then Lord Indra would have used his lightning to disintegrate him on the spot." Lord Avalokiteshvara stated as he told the ones around him that he is fine and that he merely strained his eyes trying to pry into something that he should not have seen.

"Avalokiteshvara, come to the healers to check on your eyes. The mediator is gone and he has no plans of returning for now. All of you return to your duties." The thunderous voice of the God King Indra echoed and all of them dispersed to do their duties.

"The mediator plans to visit the southern continent someday when he is ready. If he dared to say it openly then he must be coming as an envoy. The mediator of death is truly interesting as the others have said." The God King Indra stated as he is currently standing at the center of his temple gazing at the skies.

Adrian returned back to Avalon with rift and he instantly got on his knees. He used all of his willpower to appear unbothered as any weakness shown in front of a god means you already lost half the battle. Still, he did not expect the pressure of numerous gods being directed at him. If he did not circulate chaos energy in his body to maintain it at peak condition then he would have passed out.

He would not use Void Energy because using that just makes an even bigger target on his back. Given the history of the southern continent with the Void, he believed that using it will just make him a prime candidate to be erased. He did read something about a large Void rift appearing in the southern continent back then but he just glanced it over as it was just a small parchment.

"AHHH! My legs could barely stand! This is so unfair!" Adrian stated for a split second before recovering his usual demeanor as if his temporary breakdown did not happen.

Seeing that he could not enter the doors of the southern continent as he is, he needed more power but that cannot be easily done. In the end, he stared at the coordinates of the five places where the elementum are.
