Chapter 113.3: Du Kehui’s Death (3)
Du Kexin and Du Kehui turned their eyes to Zhong Meiqing, hoping that she would give a negative answer, but they did not find what they had hoped for.
“Xin’er, Hui’er, don’t be afraid. Mother and Father will rescue you!”
Zhong Meiqing’s words confirmed what Du Yunhan had just interjected with– that the Miaojiang man was their father.
“How is this possible!” Du Kehui kept shaking his head, refusing to believe their words.
“Alright, Father, this family business has been settled. Let’s continue from just now.” Du Xiuheng reminded, glancing at Du Kexin and the others.
At this time, the two men who had gone to check on Xie Yu’s whereabouts had also returned empty-handed, showing that Xie Yu and her daughter had indeed been rescued.
“Go! Take them down.” Du Yunhan signaled with his hand, and the men in black once again rushed at the other side.
“Go!” Leng Si also relayed Han Mingyi’s orders.
“Hmph, just based on you guys!” Fifth Madam looked at the people attacking and sneered coldly. Signaling to the people behind her with her hand, those people unsheathed curved swords and met the attackers head on.
Chang Feng brought a few people to Du Yunhan’s side to protect him. After the battle started, Du Xiaoli also had Du Xiuheng go to Du Yunhan’s side– both to have him protect Du Yunhan, but also to have Chang Feng and the others protect Du Xiuheng.
The Miaojiang man and Zhong Meiqing stood behind a crowd of people, walled off by a dozen people. Zhong Meiqing looked nervously at Du Kexin and Du Kehui being held captive, and fretted, “Ah Man-ge, quickly go save them!”
“Qing’er, don’t panic.” Ah Man looked at the scene of chaos and said, “You stay here, I’ll go save them.”
After saying this, Ah Man joined the battlefield, slashing his way over to where Du Kexin was, and quickly killing the people guarding Du Kexin and Du Kehui.
“Uncle Ah Man…” Du Kexin looked at Ah Man, a wounded expression on her face.
“Xin’er, I…” Ah Man gazed at Du Kexin, unsure of what to say for a moment.
Du Kehui had been taken aback by the chaos of killing around them, but was jolted by Du Kexin’s words. He turned his head to look at her and asked, “Elder Sister, you know him?”
Du Kexin nodded– of course she knew him. The place where Zhong Meiqing often took her was precisely Ah Man’s manor, and that was also where she had encountered Luo Fu, who had been killed on Mount Yan.
Throughout her childhood, she couldn’t even count the number of times she had gone there– she had known Ah Man and Luo Fu for years. She had always felt that Zhong Meiqing had some hidden intentions behind taken her there, but they had always been very kind to her, and so she had kept this matter secret for Zhong Meiqing. Who knew that on this day, her Uncle had suddenly become her father; she felt extremely uncomfortable in her heart.
As for Du Kehui, given his impulsive nature and afraid that he would run his mouth if he were to know of their existence, Zhong Meiqing had never brought him there. He naturally didn’t know of the existence of these people.
“Let’s save this conversation for when we go back. Let me rescue you guys first.” Ah Man moved to untie Du Kexin.
Du Kexin backed away two steps, yelling, “Don’t come over here!”
“Xin’er! Don’t throw a tantrum, this is extremely dangerous, I’ll take you guys away first!” Ah Man saw Du Kexin’s movements and tried to persuade her, anxiously.
“I’m not your daughter, I don’t need you to save me! My father won’t let anyone hurt me!” Du Kexin shouted loudly.
Du Kehui came to his senses, shouting, “Father, father, save me!”
What a good son! In the blink of an eye, he called him ‘father.’
Ah Man glanced at Du Kexin, went to Du Kehui’s side, and picked up a dagger to cut the rope.
Du Xiaoli noticed what was happening over here, and when she saw Ah Man’s actions, she snagged a dagger from the hand of a person she had just killed, and threw the dagger towards Ah Man.
Just when the knife had almost reached him, Ah Man noticed it and hurriedly swung his sword to deflect the dagger.
Du Xiaoli attacked in that instant and started fighting Ah Man.
Du Kehui’s ropes had already been cut, and so he took advantage of Du Xiaoli and Ah Man fighting to shake the ropes off his body. Seeing the chaos in the courtyard, he completely ignored the tied up Du Kexin, and started running towards Zhong Meiqing. Just as he had reached the middle of the courtyard, a dagger flew out behind him from nowhere, straight from behind him, through to in front of him.
“Oof–”
