Chapter 113.4: Du Kehui’s Death (4)
Du Kehui looked incredulously at the tip of the dagger protruding from his chest. Staggering two steps toward Zhong Meiqing, he yelled ‘Mother!’ before collapsing.
Zhong Meiqing had also joined the fighting after Ah Man had left. Who would have expected that her martial arts skills were quite good, a sharp contrast to her usual soft and weak appearance. When she heard Du Kehui’s voice and looked over, all she could see was a collapsed figure.
“Hui’er!” Seeing Du Kehui had fallen, Zhong Meiqing’s eyes bulged and she screamed.
“Mother…” After Du Kehui fell, he watched Zhong Meiqing frantically fight, killing everyone who stood in her way so that she could rush toward him. He grabbed the tip of the dagger with his left hand, trying to staunch the blood that was flowing out. He reached his other hand in Zhong Meiqing’s direction, wanting her to save him. But in the end, it was fruitless– his hand fell limply, and he left this world unwillingly, full of hatred.
“Hui’er!” Ah–” Seeing Du Kehui die, Zhong Meiqing so hard her voice went hoarse.
Her screams attracted the attention of others. Ah Man was also stunned when he saw Du Kehui’s corpse, his lapse in focus causing him to be stabbed in the arm by Du Xiaoli’s sword. He shook her away forcefully, breaking her sword.
“Let’s go!”
He came to Du Kexin’s side. With not enough time to cut the ropes from her body, he directly picked her up and flew to the opposite side of the room. Only when they arrived there did he cut the ropes binding her.
Zhong Meiqing also came to Du Kehui’s side, picked up his body, and retreated back to the side of the courtyard.
“Hui’er, Hui’er.” Zhong Meiqing held Du Kehui’s body, shaking it over and over, trying to shake him awake.
Seeing such a scene, Du Yunhan closed his eyes. In his heart, he felt quite torn. After all, though this was not his biological child, he had lived under his roof for so many years; he had watched him grow up.
He waved his hand, and all his people froze. The few people left on the enemy side also retreated, surrounding Zhong Meiqing and the others.
“Little Brother… ahh–” Du Kexin froze, staring at Du Kehui. She suddenly screamed, cradling her head in her hands.
“You have already been surrounded– just let them tie you up, it’s useless to resist!” Du Yunhan said.
Without knowing when, on the roof and in the courtyard, all of Du Yunhan's men surrounded all of Zhong Meiqing and the girls.
“Du Yunhan!” Zhong Meiqing looked at Du Yunhan with an expression full of wrath, “You actually killed my son! You killed my son! You and I are irreconcilable! Ah–”
“You want to tie us up– dream on!” Ah Man's eyes filled with fury. He took out a box and wanted to open it, but was stopped by Fifth Madam.
“What do you want to do? You want us all to be buried with you?” Fifth Madam roared.
As soon as she saw the box in Ah Man's hand, she knew what he had taken out. It was a kind of bug that hadn't yet been fully researched. Once the box was opened, they would attack everyone around it indiscriminately, and the owner wouldn’t be able to control them at all.
“I've already researched a way to control them.” Ah Man pushed aside Fifth Madam’s hand and took out a flute. Sweeping Du Yunhan a hateful look, he tossed the box towards Du Yunhan and the others. When the box landed, the lid was opened, and densely packed bugs flew out of the box, attacking the people nearby.
“Ahh—”
“Ahh—”
Being bitten by this kind of bug was exceptionally painful. The guards instantly lost their ability to fight, and those who were bitten badly had already fallen to the ground.
Those with higher martial arts skills used their internal power to shock the bugs, or kept slashing at them with their swords, but neither of these methods could get rid of all the bugs.
Moreover, the other Miaojiang people had also taken these kinds of boxes out. The bugs were flying all over the yard, biting everyone within reach, forcing everyone to fend for themselves; completely unable to go fight the enemy side.
And the people from the enemy side, taking advantage of the fact that their opponents were unable to fight, launched sneak attacks. In no time at all, quite a few people were killed.
Du Xiaoli was protected by Luo Qi shielding her. Although there were bugs attacking them, the pressure on her was much less than it was for the others.
