Chapter 114.5: Who Set Up Whom? (5)
“Xiaoli, it's really you! You're back!” She rushed to Du Xiaoli's side, grabbed her hand, and said, “It's really you! That's great, that's great! Come and see my father quickly, save him!”
“What happened to General Ji?” Du Xiaoli asked as she walked toward the bed.
“The day before the palace rebellion, my father was poisoned and has been unconscious ever since. Please save him!” Ji Liuxia said.
Du Xiaoli now understood why Du Yunhan had brought her here. She had to treat the general before taking command of the troops; without him, the soldiers would be nothing more than a scattered group of individuals.
Seeing the fear, anxiety, and joy in Ji Liuxia's eyes, Du Xiaoli smiled slightly and comforted her, “Don't panic. I'll examine General Ji first.”
It was no wonder Ji Liuxia was so panicked. Despite her usual fearless demeanor and tendency to defy Ji Lun, she actually relied heavily on Ji Lun and Ji Liufeng in her daily life. Now that Ji Lun was incapacitated and Ji Liufeng was absent, she was just a young girl on the verge of coming of age, unlike Du Xiaoli who had lived two lifetimes. It was natural for her to panic and feel afraid.
“Alright, go ahead and take a look.” Ji Liuxia forced herself to calm down and nodded to Du Xiaoli.
Du Xiaoli took Ji Lun's pulse and found it was steady, not like someone who had been poisoned, but rather like someone who had been cursed.
“Luo Qi, is there a type of parasite that causes people to fall into a coma?” Du Xiaoli didn’t know much about the types of parasites, so she could only ask Luo Qi.
Luo Qi and Mu Shan were wherever Du Xiaoli was. After all, court affairs had nothing to do with them; the only thing that mattered to them was her.
“Is General Ji possessed by a parasite?" Luo Qi asked.
“His pulse is steady, so it’s unlikely he was poisoned. It must be a parasite,” Du Xiaoli said.
“There are several types of parasites that cause unconsciousness. I only know of one, but it might not be the same one,” Luo Qi said.
“Do you know how to remove the parasite?” Ji Liuxia asked.
“I do, but it might not be right,” Luo Qi said uncertainly.
“Let’s try it then,” Ji Liuxia said. “My father said that if anything happens to him, we must find a way to wake him up. Even if it’s a dead horse, let’s take it as a live horse.”
Du Xiaoli broke out into a forehead of cold sweat. Oh my goodness, Miss Ji, are you referring to your father as a dead horse!
“What needs to be done?” Du Yunhan asked.
“This, this… Xiaoli, you and her go out. We can handle this inside.” Luo Qi’s face suddenly turned slightly red.
Du Xiaoli didn’t know what Luo Qi was going to do, but if he was asking them to leave, there must be something they shouldn’t see. She trusted Luo Qi unconditionally, so she pulled Ji Liuxia out.
Luo Qi called two servants back and forth into the room for a while, then had someone call Du Xiaoli and Ji Liuxia back.
When Du Xiaoli and her went back in, they found the windows open wide and a strong smell of feces in the room, so they could guess roughly what had been done. Seeing Luo Qi and the others looking embarrassed, she coughed twice and asked, “How did it go?”
“It was indeed the type of parasite I know of. We managed to remove it, but General Ji hasn’t woken up yet,” Luo Qi explained.
“I’ll go take another look.” Du Xiaoli said, then went over to Ji Lun and took his pulse.
“Xiaoli, how is my dad?” Ji Liuxia looked at Du Xiaoli anxiously.
“He’ll be fine, a couple of acupuncture needles should wake him up,” Du Xiaoli said, “Xia Yuan, prepare the needles.”
“Got it.”
Du Xioli removed Ji Lun’s shirt and inserted a few needles into his body, and the man who had been unconscious for several days woke up.
Ji Liuxia saw Ji Lun waking up and tears of joy streamed down her face. She approached the bedside and choked out, “Father, you’re awake.”
Ji Lun blinked his eyes and slowly tried to recall what had happened, asking “What happened to me?”
“There’s no time to explain what happened to you right now, I’ll tell you on the way. Hurry up and put on your clothes. Don’t dirty my daughter’s eyes.” Du Yunhan snarked, throwing clothes onto Ji Lun’s stomach.
“Oof–”
