Chapter 510: Diana’s Hidden Identity
Chapter 510: Diana’s Hidden Identity
This time, I chose to go back — only a few minutes into the past. Even such a short jump made me uneasy. I had no idea whether it would create a branching timeline, cause some kind of paradox, or trigger something completely unexpected.
Still, the need to know what had truly happened to Diana outweighed my hesitation. So I decided to go back to the exact time in the future where I came from.
I opened the portal and stepped through, returning to the exact moment I had first arrived in this timeline.
The amusement park lights were still glowing in the distance. I quickly checked the GPS tracker I had secretly placed on Diana earlier. The signal was moving rapidly, heading away from the park.
Without wasting another second, I activated God Speed. The world around me blurred into streaks of color and light as I accelerated to an impossible velocity. Even at this blinding speed, I remained completely invisible. In an instant, I was running parallel to the car, easily keeping pace.
Inside the vehicle, the sight twisted something deep inside my chest. This was not the vibrant, laughing Diana I had spent the afternoon with. Her face was pale with raw panic, her eyes wide and darting frantically.
The lively sparkle I had seen when she was screaming with joy on the roller coaster or clinging to me in the haunted house was completely gone.
Then everything unfolded in front of me.
The woman driving suddenly reached over without warning and yanked a thick black cloth over Diana’s head, plunging her into darkness. Diana’s muffled gasp of shock was audible even from outside.
The car swerved slightly before regaining speed and racing toward a large, unassuming office building in the downtown area. From the outside, it looked perfectly ordinary — employees in business clothes walking in and out, cars parked neatly, everything appearing like a normal workday.
I followed silently, my invisible form gliding alongside.
The car descended into the underground basement parking. A reinforced security gate blocked the entrance, manned by two imposing bodyguards dressed in sharp black suits. The driver flashed an ID card. The gate slid open smoothly. I slipped through right behind them without a sound.
The car came to a stop in a dimly lit, expansive underground parking area filled with several other luxury vehicles. As soon as it halted, a squad of armed men emerged from the shadows, their guns drawn and ready. They formed a tight perimeter around the car.
The woman in the driver’s seat removed the black cloth. Diana blinked rapidly, breathing hard, her hair slightly disheveled. The woman stepped out and motioned coldly.
"Get out," she ordered flatly.
Diana hesitated for a split second before stepping out of the car. Immediately, the armed men closed in behind her, their presence threatening. Her voice cracked with panic as she demanded, "Where the hell am I? Who are you, people? Do you realize how illegal this is? Kidnapping someone in broad daylight — you’ll all rot in prison for this!"
No one responded. They simply escorted her through a dimly lit corridor and pushed her into a stark, windowless interrogation room.
The door slammed shut behind her with a heavy metallic clang. I remained invisible, standing just a few feet away, watching everything with rising tension.
They left Diana alone in the cold, sterile room for nearly half an hour. The silence was oppressive. She paced back and forth, fists clenched, muttering angrily under her breath.
Finally, the same woman returned. She had changed into a crisp black suit, looking every bit the professional agent. She pulled out the metal chair opposite Diana, sat down slowly, and stared at her with cold, unblinking eyes.
"Let me introduce myself properly," the woman said with a thin smile. "I am Selena Wickers, and I work for the government."
Diana stayed completely silent, her jaw tight, eyes burning with restrained fury.
Selena leaned forward slightly. "Diana Lance... daughter of Victor Lance. We know everything we need to know about you and your family. We just want to know the location of Victor Lance."
I froze behind the one-way glass, my mind racing. Victor Lance? Who the hell is Victor Lance? Some kind of big criminal?
Diana’s voice was low and steady. "I don’t know where he is."
Selena’s expression hardened instantly. She slammed her palm on the metal table. "Don’t lie to me! Do you think we’re amateurs? Drop the innocent act, Diana. Victor might be the public face of evil, but you — you are the real mastermind pulling the strings."
"Victor’s precious daughter quietly controls the entire arms empire. You’re the one selling weapons to rogue nations and terrorists, weapons that are being used to attack our own people!"
Selena’s voice rose. "It’s in your best interest to tell us where Victor is hiding. Otherwise..."
Before she could finish the threat, Diana’s entire demeanor transformed. The panicked woman vanished in an instant. In her place sat a cold, regal ice queen.
She slowly crossed one long leg over the other, leaned back in her chair with effortless arrogance, and fixed Selena with a piercing, dangerous glare.
"Otherwise... what?" Diana asked, her voice dripping with venom and absolute confidence.
Selena smiled, clearly enjoying the shift. She slid a photograph across the table smoothly.
"What about him?"
My heart nearly stopped. It was a clear, recent photo of me — smiling, taken during one of our recent moments together.
Diana’s eyes widened for a fraction of a second before exploding with pure, fiery rage. She slammed both hands on the table so hard that the metal rang out.
"Do you fucking dare?!" she snarled, her voice rising sharply. "You dare threaten him? Touch even one hair on his head, and I swear I will burn your entire pathetic organization to the ground!"
Selena leaned back, unfazed, and let out a mocking laugh. "Hahaha... I never expected the infamous Diana Lance to lose her cool so easily. How touching. The ice queen actually has a weakness."
She continued with a smug grin, "We know everything about you, Diana. Every single detail. What you wear, who you meet, what you eat... and exactly who you love."
