Chapter 511: Godmother’s Obsession
Chapter 511: Godmother’s Obsession
Selena tapped the photo. "We discovered you’ve been watching this boy since the day he was born. You know every girl he’s dated, what he likes, what turns him on, what breaks his heart... everything."
Diana’s fists clenched so tightly her knuckles turned white. "I am his godmother. Of course, I keep an eye on him. That’s what godmothers do."
Selena burst into loud, derisive laughter. "Godmother? Oh please. Do you honestly think a godmother blushes like a lovesick teenager when she holds her nephew’s hand tightly on a roller coaster? Or clings to him desperately in a haunted house, pressing her body against his like a desperate lover? We have the footage, Diana. Every second."
Diana shot up from her chair, her face flushed with explosive anger. "What kind of disgusting nonsense are you spouting?! Shut your filthy mouth!"
Selena chuckled darkly, clearly relishing the reaction. "Nonsense? We monitored your every move that day. The way you screamed with joy on the rides, the way you hugged him so tightly in the haunted house when the ghost jumped out... your tits pressed against his chest."
"You don’t need to deny it. I must say, I’m genuinely surprised. A woman as cruel and ruthless as you actually fell in love. Most men who tried getting close to you in the past... their bodies were never found."
Diana’s eyes blazed with murderous fury. She leaned forward, her voice low and lethal. "Listen to me very carefully, you pathetic government bitch. If you hurt even a single hair on his head... if you so much as breathe in his direction with bad intentions..."
"I will personally make sure you suffer in ways you can’t even imagine. I will tear your world apart piece by piece until there’s nothing left but ash. Do you understand me?"
I stood there, completely invisible, my throat tight with a storm of emotions I couldn’t even name. Diana — my godmother — loved me. Not in the gentle, familial way I had always assumed, but with a deep, passionate, almost obsessive love. Even my own mother had no idea this side of her existed. The realization hit me like a punch to the chest.
Seeing her defend me so fiercely, so protectively, made my heart ache in a way I had never felt before. Someone out there loved me that intensely — enough to bare her teeth and threaten to burn everything down. And right now, she was risking her freedom, her safety, everything, all because of me.
Selena leaned back in her chair, a cruel smile playing on her lips as she continued mocking Diana.
"You should know you’re never getting out of here alive," she said coldly. "Given the scale of the crimes you and your father have committed, execution would be the cleanest option. But my organization believes you still have some value. So it’s in your best interest to stop playing games and tell us exactly where Victor Lance is hiding."
Selena paused, her eyes gleaming with malice. "Otherwise... who knows what might happen to your dear nephew? Oops — I mean your little lover. A tragic car accident... a random mugging gone wrong... You know how dangerous the world can be these days."
The blatant threat hung heavy in the air.
I watched Diana closely. Her eyes burned with pure, unfiltered anger, her hands clenched into fists on the table. For a moment, the room was deathly silent. Then, unexpectedly, Diana let out a low, dangerous chuckle.
"Ha... ha ha ha..." She laughed softly at first, then louder, the sound sending chills down my spine. "Selena Wickers... or whatever your real name is... do you actually think you’ve won?"
Suddenly, loud commotion erupted from outside the interrogation room — the sharp crack of gunfire, shouts, and the sound of running footsteps echoed through the hallway.
Selena’s smug expression instantly shattered. She jerked upright, eyes wide with surprise. Before she could react, the door burst open.
A subordinate rushed in, leaned close to Selena’s ear, and whispered urgently. I watched Selena’s face drain of color. Her forehead broke out in sweat, and her breathing became rapid and heavy.
Diana tilted her head slightly, her voice dripping with mock concern. "Oh? Is something bothering you, Selena? Why don’t you tell me what’s wrong? Maybe I can help you..."
Selena slammed her fist on the table, her voice shaking with rage. "It’s you... It’s your people! How the hell did they get here? This building is supposed to be secure!"
The gunfire grew louder, closer, relentless. The door flew open again with a bang. A tall, armed woman stepped in first, her gun raised and pointed straight at Selena’s head. Two more women followed right behind her, weapons trained on the agent.
Diana raised her hand calmly. "Don’t kill her."
All three women immediately lowered their stance slightly and replied in unison, their voices respectful and sharp, "Yes, Boss."
Diana stood up slowly, radiating absolute authority. "Find out every single detail about her — her family, her lover, her friends, her finances... I want everything. Tear her life apart."
I watched in stunned silence. My Aunt Diana... she’s really this cool? This powerful? Strangely, I didn’t feel any guilt about the people who might die today. As long as everyone I cared about was safe, I realized I wouldn’t mind if the whole world burned.
Selena’s eyes widened in terror. "No... please, don’t... I can—"
Before she could finish, one of Diana’s subordinates moved swiftly and knocked Selena unconscious with a precise strike. Her body slumped forward onto the table.
Diana turned to the woman who seemed to be her second-in-command. "Grace, is everything taken care of?"
Grace nodded quickly, but I noticed a flicker of hesitation in her eyes. Diana caught it immediately.
"What is it?" Diana asked, her tone sharpening.
Grace swallowed hard. "Boss... it’s... it’s..."
Diana’s patience snapped. Her voice turned icy and impatient. "What? Speak!"
Grace hesitated for only a second before blurting out, "Boss... Master Dexter has gone missing."
The words hit like a bomb.
Diana’s face twisted with explosive fury. Fire blazed in her eyes as she shot up from her chair, her entire body radiating lethal anger. "What?!" she roared.
"Didn’t I specifically tell you to keep an eye on him at all times?! Find him right now! Use every resource we have! If you can’t locate him within the hour... You don’t need to come back. Just die."
Her voice was thunderous, filled with raw, protective rage. The subordinates flinched visibly under the weight of her fury.
