Chapter 1013: Chapter 1230: Metagross Vs Arcanine II

Chapter 1013: Chapter 1230: Metagross Vs Arcanine II

Arcanine's full-powered Flamethrower carried such terrifying heat that even Moltres found it alarming, and even Metagross's expression turned slightly more serious.

Although this guy's level was lower than Kleavor's, its actual combat power was even greater.

"Meta!"

Once again, Metagross countered with Psycho Cut—but this time, the psychic blade couldn't slice through the Flamethrower as easily as before.

The two attacks clashed midair for several seconds. Eventually, the psychic blade began to suppress the flames—but Psycho Cut lacked sustained energy, while Flamethrower had continuous output, giving it a clear advantage.

As the energy within Psycho Cut was exhausted, the Flamethrower overwhelmed and shattered it—but Metagross was long gone from its spot by then.

Metagross had already appeared directly above Arcanine. A rainbow-hued Meteor Mash, carrying the momentum of a collapsing mountain, came crashing down from above.

The sheer pressure of the blow caused the air below to explode, and the crushing force pressed down on Arcanine like tens of thousands of pounds.

The ground beneath Arcanine continuously cracked and caved in under this pressure.

"Arf!"

A fierce look flashed across Arcanine's face. And a massive phantom of jaws full of razor-sharp fangs materialized midair—Crunch, unleashed without warning.

Crack!

Crunch struck Metagross at the same time Meteor Mash landed on Arcanine.

Arcanine's body was sent flying with a thunderous boom, smashing through one protruding rock after another.

As for Crunch, the damage it dealt to Metagross wasn't severe—only leaving a few shallow marks on its body.

But even that was enough to show how powerful the move was.

After all, Metagross's defense was so high that even Aggron would acknowledge it.

"Arf!"

Arcanine quickly got back up after being sent flying, shaking its head slightly. The Meteor Mash had struck its head, leaving it a bit dizzy.

"Arf!"

As it barked again, large boulders—each around seven to eight meters wide—suddenly materialized above Metagross's head. The rocks came crashing down one after another.

But Metagross dodged them all. To it, these falling rocks were simply too slow. Moreover, they all fell in straight, predictable trajectories.

Unless the area covered by the Rock Slide was vast and the gaps between the falling boulders were extremely narrow, any Pokémon with sufficient speed and reaction time could basically evade them.

Of course, that applied to Pokémon of the same level.

Just as Metagross finished dodging the last of the falling rocks, it suddenly sensed an intense wave of heat rushing toward it.

The next instant, a blazing mass of fire slammed straight at it.

Right after using Rock Slide, Arcanine had immediately followed up with Flare Blitz, perfectly timing the attack so that it struck just as Metagross finished evading the rocks.

It had clearly calculated that the falling rocks wouldn't be enough to harm Metagross.

This time, Metagross had no time to dodge.

BOOM!!!

Flare Blitz, carrying terrifying heat and explosive force, crashed into Metagross like a high-speed train.

Metagross was driven backward, its body sliding as the scorching flames finally made it feel a distinct burning sensation.

Ten kilometers. Fifty kilometers. Eighty kilometers.

Flare Blitz pushed Metagross a full eighty kilometers—all in less than ten seconds.

In its wake, a massive trench was carved into the ground. Everything in its path had been utterly destroyed, and even some magma had erupted forth as a result.

"Arf?"

Arcanine: "How is this possible?!"

Arcanine stopped against a rock wall, staring in disbelief.

It had expected at least to severely injure Metagross—but looking at its opponent now, aside from a few minor scratches here and there, its body was still largely intact.

This absurd defense… was it even real?

"Meta!"

Metagross's reply came in the form of a rapid barrage of Bullet Punches.

Its claws turned into streaks of light, striking like a machine gun—rapid, relentless blows smashing into Arcanine's face.

While Bullet Punch wasn't as powerful as Meteor Mash, it made up for it with sheer speed and continuous strikes.

In just a few seconds, over a hundred punches landed on Arcanine's body, forcing it back step by step—

Until suddenly, a small flame flickered on Metagross's body, and its assault come to a halt.

"Burned, huh."

Julian, sitting atop Moltres, said calmly.

Arcanine's Flare Blitz had dragged Metagross over eighty kilometers—and the attack had a chance to inflict Burn.

But since this Arcanine had soaked in the Terraflux Magma, its Fire-type moves now guaranteed a Burn status condition upon hitting the opponent.

Unless one had something like the King Form or a treasure that granted immunity to status effects—and that treasure had to be inherently stronger than the Terraflux Magma—you wouldn't be able to avoid being Burned.

"Anyway, with Metagross's luck, it was definitely going to get burned," Julian muttered.

Hearing that, Moltres turned to glance at him.

Such shameless reasoning… truly worthy of its trainer.

He himself was the unlucky one, yet here he was, pushing that "bad luck" onto Metagross.

The Burn status did have some impact on Metagross—at the very least, its stamina would continuously drain.

But with the sun blazing high in the sky right now, Metagross with the Black Light Crystal inside its body, could absorb sunlight to restore stamina.

That said, Arcanine recovered even faster thanks to the Molten Arena's effect.

After taking over a hundred Bullet Punches and a Meteor Mash earlier, most of the damage it had suffered was already nearly healed.

"Don't let it recover. Metagross—Gravity!" Julian said.

"Meta!"

Metagross, of course, understood this point.

It needed to wear Arcanine down to a certain level, then finish it off in one decisive strike.

Otherwise, if Arcanine remained at peak stamina, not even Metagross was confident it could take it down in one hit.

As Gravity took effect, Arcanine suddenly felt the pressure around it increase nearly a hundredfold.

Its body became unbearably heavy, as if filled with lead.

Crack… crack…

The ground beneath it kept shattering under the immense gravitational force.

Arcanine's limbs began to slowly bend, as if it was about to be forced to its knees.

"Psychic Noise!"

Psychic Noise: Attacks the opponent with unpleasant sound waves, preventing it from recovering HP through moves, Abilities, or held items for two turns.

In simple terms, it temporarily stopped Arcanine from regenerating its stamina.

The Molten Arena's other buffs to Arcanine still remained, but now, for a short period, it could no longer draw upon the vast Fire-type energy of the battlefield to replenish its stamina.

Arcanine naturally realized this as well, and a look of urgency immediately spread across its canine face.
