Chapter 1031: Dragon Soul
Chapter 1031: Dragon Soul
After defeating Kleavor, Julian had completed one-fifth of his second main quest.
"Kleavor, can I ask you a few questions?" Julian said.
After using his Probing Eyes to view Kleavor's information, several questions had arisen in Julian’s mind that he wanted to ask.
Kleavor nodded. Metagross had defeated it with its strength, so as long as it could answer Julian’s questions, it naturally wouldn’t hold back.
"How did you obtain your King form?"
Julian was extremely curious. The King form’s boost to Kleavor was incredibly powerful—it was practically like a super buff.
Unfortunately, it had encountered his Metagross; otherwise, within the Champion tier, unless facing other Pokémon with King forms, it would have virtually no opponents.
The Probing Eyes stated that it was Arceus’s blessing that allowed Kleavor to attain the King form, but why would Arceus bless it? It must have done something, right?
"We five Kings helped Lord Arceus retrieve five plates that fell during the Lord's world-saving efforts. I retrieved the Insect Plate," Kleavor said, a hint of nostalgia in its eyes.
'Retrieved Arceus’s plates?' Julian was shocked. The plates were the key to Arceus becoming the creator god. How could it lose them, and five at that?
"World-saving? It saved this world?"
Kleavor nodded.
"Ten thousand years ago, a meteor threatened to destroy the world. Lord Arceus collided with the meteor to save it, sustaining severe injuries and losing five plates into the world."
"We were the ones who retrieved these five plates and received Lord Arceus’s blessing."
"Ten thousand years!?"
Julian’s voice rose in disbelief as he stared at Kleavor. "You’re saying you’ve lived for ten thousand years?"
Kleavor nodded.
Seeing Julian’s disbelieving expression, it calmly explained, "We have infinite lifespans—this is also a gift from Lord Arceus."
Unless one became a First-class Legendary, even a Champion-level Pokémon would eventually die of old age.
Yet this Kleavor had lived for ten thousand years and was immortal—on this point alone, it was on par with First-class Legendaries.
"You’ve lived for ten thousand years, but your strength doesn’t seem all that impressive," Celebi remarked from atop Julian’s head.
Julian was stunned for a moment—that actually seemed to be true.
Having lived for ten thousand years, even a pig could probably become a Champion by now. Yet, despite possessing the King form, it had still been defeated by Metagross.
It seemed like these ten thousand years had probably been lived in vain.
Kleavor's face darkened instantly. If it hadn’t been so exhausted, it would have taught this little fatty a lesson about whether ten thousand years of life were wasted or not.
Seeing its silence, Julian patted Celebi’s head and scolded, "Don’t talk nonsense. Kleavor is quite impressive—it’s an emissary of Arceus."
Having received Arceus’s blessing, in a way, it could indeed be considered an emissary.
Hearing Julian’s words, Kleavor’s expression visibly softened.
"How do the other four compare to you in strength?"
After all, there were five Pokémon with the King form in the entire Primal Secret Realm.
"I am the strongest now," Kleavor said with a hint of pride.
There had originally been another at the same level as it, but now that it had advanced to level 100, it had taken the top position among the Five Kings.
Julian nodded, realizing that he had probably asked a rather pointless question.
This guy was already level 100, the peak of the Champion tier.
If there was anyone stronger, they would have to be a First-class Legendary. And for an ordinary Pokémon to ascend to godhood—that would be nothing short of impossible.
Julian didn’t believe the five of them could achieve such a feat.
After all, this guy had taken ten thousand years just to reach level 100. If not for the pressure Metagross had exerted, it might have been stuck at level 99 for who knew how many more years.
He glanced at the World-class treasure, the Dragon Soul, hovering in mid-air. Based on Dragonite’s reaction, the Dragon Soul was still in a concealed state.
Wasn’t it supposed to reveal itself after defeating Kleavor? Why was it different?
Noticing Julian’s gaze, Kleavor asked, "You came here for this thing?"
It pointed its stone axe toward the Dragon Soul in the sky.
"You can see it?" Julian asked, somewhat surprised.
Kleavor nodded.
Earlier it was said that Pokémon could not see it, so why could Kleavor see it? Did that mean that, in some sense, it was no longer considered a Pokémon?
Julian’s mind felt a bit muddled.
But thinking of the important matter, he quickly asked, "Can you make it reveal itself?"
Kleavor did not speak. It simply made a slight gesture toward the direction where the Dragon Soul was, and a streak of golden light emanated from its body.
The next second, the previously concealed Dragon Soul materialized in mid-air.
Its coiled form exuded a brilliant green aura of draconic essence.
"ROAR—!"
Dragonite suddenly let out a resonant roar. Every cell in its body urged it to devour the Dragon Soul, but without Julian’s permission, it forcibly restrained itself.
"Go on."
Julian patted Dragonite’s round belly.
He felt a considerable sense of indebtedness toward Dragonite. Despite being one of his earliest companions, hatched from a system-rewarded Pokémon Egg, it had ended up with the least Ultimate treasures among his main team.
It wasn’t that Julian favored the others—it was just that Dragon-type Ultimate treasures were exceedingly rare. And on the rare occasions they did appear, many were better suited for Garchomp or Salamence than for Dragonite.
Now, with Dragonite obtaining a World-class treasure, it was a leap forward.
The power of a World-class treasure far surpassed that of ordinary Ultimate treasures—it could even have an effect on First-class Legendaries.
As Dragonite approached the Dragon Soul, the latter actively merged into Dragonite’s body. In the next moment, Dragonite plummeted from the sky.
Metagross immediately caught it with Psychic, looking on with a mix of confusion and concern.
"It’s fine. The power of the Dragon Soul is too immense. Dragonite needs to sleep to absorb the energy within it."
Julian took a look with the Probing Eyes, and the worry in his heart finally eased. He had been quite concerned just now as well.
Fortunately, nothing was wrong. It just needed to sleep.
He recalled Dragonite into its Poké Ball, allowing it to slumber peacefully.
Perhaps when it awoke, he might gain another Champion-level Pokémon. Even if not, reaching the peak of the Pseudo-Champion tier was all but guaranteed.
After all, this was a World-class treasure—its value was something even ten ordinary Ultimate treasures could not compare to.
Just the fact that it tripled Dragonite’s Dragon-type origin was astonishing enough.
A Pokémon’s origin power could be seen as its foundational potential. The stronger the origin, the greater its combat prowess.
Metagross’s ability to fight above its level so effortlessly was largely because its origin power was extremely abundant, entirely built up through Ultimate and World-class treasures.
