Chapter 1101: Chapter 1318: First Battle
Julian hadn't updated his information on the Trainer Association's official website during the past three years, so Pierce had assumed that although Julian should have made tremendous progress, it shouldn't have reached the point where he wouldn't even have any Pseudo-Champion Pokémon.
Yet apart from Kingambit and Larvitar, all of Julian's Pokémon had already reached the Champion tier.
And Julian wasn't even planning to let Kingambit take the field.
So he simply sent out three Champion-level Pokémon.
Looking at Pierce's dark expression, Julian grinned, "It can't be helped."
Rolling his eyes, Pierce retorted, "You're just bullying me."
A single Champion-level Pokémon could already crush his three Regis, let alone three of them.
Why did it feel like he had come here just to get beaten up?
"Don't worry, I won't bully you."
As he spoke, Julian snapped his fingers.
Immediately, the auras of the three Pokémon rapidly weakened. They fell all the way from Champion rank to Pseudo-Champion Peak, eventually stabilizing at Level 86.
"How about now? Better?" Julian smiled.
He didn't lower their levels below that of the three Regis, because Pierce was his friend, and there was no need for him to go 'that' easy on him.
Pierce nodded, utterly shocked, and couldn't help asking, "Did they suppress their strength themselves, or did you somehow do it?"
Pokémon could suppress their own power, but to drop from Champion-level all the way down to Pseudo-Champion—and even have their aura diminish—was quite another thing.
If he hadn't just seen these three's aura at the Champion tier, looking at them now, he would have assumed they'd only ever been mid-stage Pseudo-Champions.
So Pierce suspected that this wasn't the Pokémon's own doing, but rather Julian's method.
But as soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted it, knowing he'd overstepped—this had to be obviously one of Julian's secrets.
"You can think of it as my doing," Julian said.
He had no intention of hiding it and didn't think it was necessary—it wasn't anything all that special anyway.
This only left Pierce even more shocked.
"Alright, enough surprises. Let's get the battle started," Julian said.
"I won't hold back then."
Pierce rubbed his palms together, his expression now tinged with excitement.
Since Julian's three Pokémon were now at the same level as his three Regis, Pierce couldn't help but feel he might actually have a chance of winning.
As soon as his words fell, Regice casually fired an Ice Beam straight at Salamence.
Ice-type moves dealt quadruple damage to Salamence.
This was a Type disadvantage that even First-class Legendaries couldn't avoid, let alone a Champion.

---
Because of the treasure it had consumed, the damage from Ice-type moves against Salamence was reduced from quadruple to only double, which was a significant reduction.
Faced with the incoming Ice Beam, Salamence naturally wasn't foolish enough to tank it just because it had gained additional resistance—after all, this was an attack it could dodge.
With a powerful flap of its wings, its crimson eyes flashed as it burst forth with astonishing speed.
Seeing that Salamence was about to dodge, Regice quickly adjusted the direction of its Ice Beam, chasing after Salamence with its attack. Unfortunately, it couldn't catch up.
Just then, it seemed to hear the crackling sound of electricity behind it, but it didn't stop its attack.
Zeraora had sprung into action. Wrapped in arcs of lightning, it exploded forward with incredible speed. Over short distances, it was nearly comparable to Teleport.
It appeared directly behind Regice, its Thunder Punch, accompanied by the shrill roar of electricity, slammed toward the Titan.
However, the sound of air being torn apart from the left caused its pupils to contract slightly.
Registeel had extended its thick, powerful arms and was barreling its body straight toward it.
Crush Grip!
[Crush Grip: The target is crushed with great force using arms or pincers. The more HP the target has remaining, the greater the move's power.]
The nature of this move was indeed perfect for Zeraora, which was still at full health.
If Zeraora continued its attack on Regice, it would itself be hit by the Crush Grip, and if it gave up the attack, then both sides would come out unscathed.
"Zera!"
Zeraora let out a light snort, the lightning around its legs flaring.
Its body vanished from the spot in a strange blur, leaving behind only a few lingering arcs of electricity.
Registeel's Crush Grip hit nothing but air, and immediately after, it felt a scorching fist slam into its back.
The tremendous force sent its massive body flying several hundred meters.
Zeraora had somehow appeared behind Registeel, flames swirling around its left fist.
But before it could even feel pleased with itself, Zeraora suddenly felt a chill run down its back.
Turning its head, it saw Regirock using Lock-On on it.
And the next second, a Hyper Beam shot forth from Regirock's hands.
Lock-On was actually most effective when paired with Zap Cannon, but unfortunately for Pierce, Zeraora was an Electric-type Pokémon with the Volt Absorb Ability.
And he wasn't foolish enough to use Zap Cannon to charge his opponent.
BOOM!!!
The Hyper Beam struck Zeraora without any surprises, the massive impact forcing its body backward in a relentless slide.
Meanwhile, Salamence had completely escaped Regice's Ice Beam, and without hesitation, it fired a Hydro Pump straight at Regirock.
This forced Regirock to cut off its Hyper Beam and dart away from its position, narrowly avoiding the Hydro Pump.
"Mage!"
Magearna immediately seized the opportunity. It launched three Aura Spheres—one at each of the three Regis.
Regirock had just dodged the Hydro Pump, only to be hit head-on by an Aura Sphere, while Regice and Registeel each used their own moves to destroy the ones coming at them.
"Well done, Magearna," Julian couldn't help but praise.
He hadn't complimented either Salamence or Zeraora just now, only Magearna.
After all, this was Magearna's first real battle—it deserved plenty of encouragement.
And Magearna's timing had truly been excellent. Even when Julian offered praise, he didn't do so without reason.
"Mage~"
Magearna's eyes narrowed slightly—it was clearly overjoyed.
So this was what battling felt like.
For a brief moment, it even had the urge to move from behind the scenes to the front lines.
However, that impulse vanished almost instantly when Registeel's Mega Punch slammed directly into its cheek.
Magearna suddenly realized something—hitting others in battle certainly felt great. Being hit, however, definitely did not.
For the first time in its life, Magearna experienced the sensation of pain from being struck by another Pokémon.
Its eyes immediately reddened, and tears nearly started falling.
