Chapter 895: Chapter 1112: Stunning Performance
Chapter 895: Chapter 1112: Stunning Performance
In a Grand Festival's performance, Trainers could perform alongside their Pokémon, but one thing had to be remembered: the Pokémon were the focus of the stage.
When a Trainer performed with their Pokémon, they must never outshine the Pokémon; otherwise, the priorities would be reversed.
The Grand Festival was a talent show for Pokémon, not for you, the Trainer.
As long as one struck the right balance, a performance where Trainer and Pokémon complemented each other would elevate the show to the highest level.
Julian naturally understood this. So after playing for a few minutes, he gradually reined in his own skills, shifting the center of the stage from himself to Milotic.
"Mii-loo-milo~"
Milotic's voice grew even more ethereal. Shrouded in the misty water vapor, it looked like a spirit of water singing freely.
Milotic's singing, combined with Julian's Master-level piano skills, created an explosive stage effect.
The performance wasn't very long—about five minutes in total.
As Julian struck the final note, Milotic's lingering voice slowly faded.
Julian stood up and, together with Milotic, gave a slight bow.
When he straightened up, he realized there was not a single sound of applause from the entire audience. Julian picked up the microphone and brought it to his lips.
"There should be some applause right about now."
He said it in a joking tone, snapping everyone in the venue back to reality.
The next second—
BOOM!!!
A thunderous roar of applause erupted, practically shaking the entire venue. All two hundred thousand spectators were clapping their hands with all their might.
There were screams, sobs, and excited roars.
At this moment, the entire venue became an ocean of joy.
---
> "Mom is asking me why I'm watching the livestream on my knees."
> "Champion Walker, from now on, you are my god!"
> "Those piano skills, how is this possible? Is Champion Walker trying to break through the sky?"
> "My friend actually didn't kneel, so I broke his legs myself."
> "Perfection! Champion Walker and Milotic are a match made in heaven!"
---
The applause and screams lasted a full twenty minutes. Everyone's hands turned red from clapping, but no one cared.
The livestream comments were also exploding.
Meanwhile, Julian and Milotic stood quietly on stage, accepting their applause.
It was mainly for Milotic; otherwise, Julian would have left immediately after the performance.
"Milo~"
Milotic's eyes sparkled like stars, waves of joy continuously radiating from its body—it was truly happy.
Not because so many people were applauding for it or admiring it.
But because it had performed together with its Trainer. That feeling of resonance between them just now made it extremely, extremely happy.
Seeing Milotic lower its head toward him, Julian raised his hand, and Milotic gently rested its head in his palm.
"You did great today."
"Milo~"
Feeling the gentle pat on its head, Milotic revealed an expression of pure joy.
By now, the applause had finally subsided.
"What an absolutely stunning performance! Champion Walker and Milotic have just put enormous pressure on the contestants who will follow!"
The host, dressed in a gorgeous gown, walked out from backstage. Like most of the audience, her face still carried traces of shock.
There was one thing she got wrong, though—the contestants felt no pressure at all.
There was simply no comparison. And without comparison, there was no pressure.
"May I invite our five judges to share their views on Champion Walker and Milotic's performance?" the host said.
The five judges for the Finals were:
President Lucas, head of the Lake City Trainers Association.
Principal Simon of Lake University.
Tina Walker, head of the Lake City Breeders Association—and also Julian's mother.
Dean Eric, vice-director of the Lake City Pokémon Center.
And General Manager Chris of the Walker Group.
All of them were individuals of considerable status and influence.
President Lucas, seated first, picked up the microphone and said, "This old man isn't qualified to comment on Champion Walker and Milotic. As for how well they performed, I believe no one understands that better than the audience."
Principal Simon then took the mic and said, "Champion Walker, you were born and raised in Lake City. Why didn't you come to our university back then?"
He spoke with a deeply aggrieved expression.
Just look at Imperial University now—having produced a figure like Julian, they were insufferably proud. Their principal strutted around like he ruled the world.
Thinking back to the last meeting when he had encountered the principal of Imperial University, seeing that smug look on his face had made him want to punch him for real.
The man was simply too arrogant.
Julian chuckled lightly.
"Well, it's not like I didn't want to get into Lake University—I was just directly recruited by Imperial University back then."
It had been Lake University's own fault for being stingy back then, unwilling to offer more resources. If they had given a bit more, he might have ended up there.
"President Lucas doesn't dare to comment on Champion Walker, but our Ms. Tina certainly can!" the host said with a smile.
Many in the audience burst into friendly laughter.
Tina was Julian's mother; of course she had the right.
"Julian, from now on you're playing the piano for Mom every day—and Milotic can sing for me!"
Even Tina hadn't known her son had such talent. After all, she had never seen Julian play the piano before, and there weren't even any related instruments at home.
Where exactly had he learned all this?
Hearing her words, countless people in the audience were filled with envy. They could only hear it once in a lifetime—and she could hear it every day.
"Please no," Julian said with a slightly pained expression.
Of course he knew Tina was joking. And besides, this performance had been purely for fun—who knew when he would ever perform like this again?
Next to speak was Vice Director Eric.
"These old bones of mine feel much better after hearing Milotic's song and Champion Walker's piano."
In fact, it wasn't just him; many people felt the same way.
"Music that touches the soul can really heal certain conditions," Eric said.
Finally, it was the turn of General Manager Chris.
Julian was the heir of the Walker Group. If the occasion hadn't been so formal, Manager Chris might have gone up there and fawned over him on the spot.
After delivering an enthusiastic round of praise for Julian, the five judges' comments came to an end.
Then came the scoring.
Naturally, every judge gave a perfect ten.
With that, Julian's special guest performance officially concluded. It had begun in an extremely stunning manner and ended in an equally remarkable way.
It was safe to assume that tomorrow's headlines would be entirely dominated by Julian.
Fortunately, the Grand Festival Finals would last three days, and the Champion wouldn't be decided until the third.
Otherwise, if a Champion had been crowned on the first day, their spotlight would have been completely overshadowed by Julian.
But even three days later, Julian's popularity would likely remain sky-high.
For that eventual Champion, it would indeed be a bit of a blow.
As Julian left the stage, the venue once again erupted into a round of farewell applause.
