Chapter 933: Forget It

Chapter 933: Forget It

The birth of Jade undoubtedly injected new vitality into the Walker family. She was the second third-generation member of the Walker family after Julian.

The attention and affection she received were even greater than what Julian once had.

Henry had already delegated most of the company's affairs to his subordinates, spending almost every day with Alice and their daughter.

Perhaps because of the blessing from Mew, within just a few days Jade transformed from her originally wrinkled and "ugly" appearance into a fair and cute little baby. Aside from a milky scent, she also carried a faint fragrance of grass and wood.

As for Mew, after giving Jade its blessing, it left in a hurry.

It feared that if it stayed any longer, its head would be rubbed bald by Julian.

So even though Julian was holding it tightly at the time, it still managed to break free.

"What do you think our child will do when she grows up?" Alice leaned in Henry's arms, looking at Jade sleeping soundly in the crib, her eyes filled with maternal love and anticipation for their child's future.

"Of course, she'll become a Trainer. She will become the country's first female Champion," Henry said matter-of-factly.

He didn't say words like; no matter what the child did, as long as she was safe and well, that would be enough.

Jade was born into the Walker family. Her grandfather, second uncle, and brother were all Champions—which was her blessing but it also placed immense pressure on her.

Even if she grew up unable to achieve anything, with the Walker family as her backing, she would still live well and never be bullied.

But Henry didn’t want that.

For most parents, hoping their sons to become dragons and daughters to become phoenixes was normal.

Henry was no exception. He naturally hoped Jade would become Drakoria’s first female Champion.

As for why he didn’t simply wish for Jade to live a peaceful and safe life—that went without saying. In the Walker family, what danger could she possibly face? "Peace and safety" were things she already possessed the moment she was born.

"By the way, my parents and little brother are coming over," Alice said without contradicting her husband.

"Mm, got it," Henry nodded.

Since his in-laws were coming, they naturally had be properly received.

"What about Julian?" Alice asked curiously. Julian had been staying at their house these past few days and would come to see Jade every day, but he hadn’t shown up yet today.

"He told me he had something to do," Henry replied.

Alice nodded and didn’t ask further. If Henry didn’t say, then he must not want her to worry—or perhaps Julian hadn’t told Henry anything at all.

Meanwhile, Julian had already reached the depths of the White Mountain Range, one of Drakoria's top ten Forbidden Zones.

Each of these top ten Forbidden Zones were fraught with danger, and at the heart of each zone resided Pokémon with Champion-level strength.

However, for Julian now, these so-called forbidden zones were no different from his own backyard.

At this moment, he took out the small fragment of Death Essence, which he had knocked out from Yveltal's body, from his system space.

---

[Death Essence: A fragment of Yveltal's origin Death Essence, forcibly expelled from its body by immense power. If absorbed by a compatible Pokémon, it may grant partial control over Death Energy.]

[Note: The absorption process carries significant life-threatening risks.]

---

Julian had witnessed firsthand how terrifying Death Energy could be.

Zekrom and Reshiram, were at the exact same level as Yveltal. Yet, even fighting two against one, they were ultimately unable to defeat it. The main reason was Yveltal's command over the death energy, which allowed it to absorb the life force released at the moment of a creature's death to heal and empower itself.

Now, he had snatched away this small fragment of Death Essence.

> If absorbed by a compatible Pokémon,it may grant partial control over Death Energy.

The description included the word "compatible."

Meaning not every Pokémon could absorb it; it depended on the individual's inherent compatibility with this Death Essence.

If an incompatible Pokémon tried to force absorption, it likely wouldn't gain the power of death but might instead injure or even kill itself.

Julian first ruled out Zekrom and Reshiram. They were both First-class Legendaries, with typing of Dragon/Electric and Dragon/Fire respectively—both aligned with radiant, grand, and luminous energies. This fundamental nature made them incompatible with the power of death.

Just look at Yveltal’s typing: Dark/Flying.

Metagross wasn't suitable either. Its path wasn't to follow that of other First-class Legendaries; forcing that route would actually limit its potential.

In reality, among all of Julian's Pokémon, the one most compatible with this Death Essence was—

"Gengar."

"Gen~"

The ghostly white creature emerged from Julian's shadow.

When it looked at the cluster of Death Essence, its eyes were filled with intense longing.

Gengar itself could grow stronger by absorbing the souls of the dead—very similar to how Yveltal absorbed the power released at the moment of death.

Only the Death Essence was on a much higher plane.

It could absorb energy from the death of flowers, plants, and trees—even though they had no souls.

"Absorbing this might kill you. Are you sure?" Julian asked.

"Gen~"

Gengar: "Then forget it."

Julian: (⊙_⊙)

Seeing Gengar shake its head so decisively, Julian was dumbfounded. Shouldn't this guy follow the usual script and say it was willing to try for his sake?

How could it just flat-out refuse?

Gengar: 'Are you kidding me? This thing can kill a ghost! I don’t want to die. Besides, with my Trainer’s abilities, I’ll become a Champion sooner or later anyway. What’s the rush?'

"Um, maybe I didn’t make it clear. Gengar—the risk is actually very small," Julian felt he could still persuade it.

"Gen~"

Gengar: "No."

Seeing Gengar shake its head again, Julian felt even more helpless. If this was Kartana, it probably wouldn’t give up even if Julian refused to give it the essence.

"This is Death Essence! If you master it, you could become the next God of Death!" Julian, who was unwilling to give up, still continued to tempt it.

"Think about it—once you become the God of Death, you could step on Metagross with your left foot, crush Moltres with your right, and subdue Reshiram and Zekrom, with each hand. Wouldn’t that be impressive?"

Gengar thought for a moment and nodded. That image was indeed quite impressive.

"So? Have you changed your mind?" Julian asked expectantly.

Gengar shook its head again, indicating it hadn’t changed its mind. Sure, it would be impressive, but only if it survived. If it died, there would be nothing left.

Life right now was great. It could live for a very, very long time. Why risk taking a shortcut for power? Who knows, it might just vanish along the way.

A bit annoyed, Julian pinched Gengar’s cheeks. "If you don’t want it, I’ll give it to another partner. Don’t regret it later."

"Gen~"

Gengar shook its head once more.

Fine. He was out of ideas.

So this little chubby thing turned out to be a salted-fish type. Damn, who did it learn that from? He put the world’s greatest treasure in front of it, and it didn’t even want it.

Aside from Gengar, Julian really couldn’t think of any other Pokémon among his team that would be more suitable.

Should he go catch another Gengar, or some other more compatible Pokémon? Julian pondered gloomily.

He felt tired just thinking about having to train a new Pokémon from scratch.
