Chapter 938: Unown

Chapter 938: Unown

Don’t be fooled by how many countries had given Drakoria numerous ancient stone tablets—they had made rubbings of very single one. After all, what mattered about stone tablets was the inscriptions on them.

Once the inscriptions were recorded, the physical tablets themselves lost much of their importance.

But with Julian’s demand for the stone tablets, ancient stone tablets had gained another layer of mystery.

Why could Julian command First-class Legendaries without side effects? Why could he capture First-class Legendaries—and two of them at that?

Could this be related to the ancient stone tablets?

Did the stone tablets contain methods for commanding First-class Legendaries without side effects and capturing them? Perhaps they recorded secrets yet to be deciphered.

Maybe others hadn’t been able to decipher the inscriptions on the ancient stone tablets, but Julian could.

Or perhaps the ancient stone tablets themselves held some special property that others had failed to detect.

Whether it was other families in Drakoria or other countries, anyone with a hint of ambition wanted to uncover the secret.

Perhaps by mastering this secret, one could become the second Julian.

That was why attention had turned to Ella.

As Julian’s secretary, Ella was one of the people who interacted with him the most and was among his most trusted aides. Moreover, she was the one handling the ancient stone tablets.

By installing a miniature camera on her button, they might catch a glimpse of Julian’s secret.

"Commander, even so, I should leave this place," Ella said.

How could she stay in the warehouse to watch Julian study the ancient stone tablets? Such matters were not for her eyes.

"So they even arranged a little "fly" inside the warehouse."

Julian smiled faintly. The shadow behind him began to move eerily, rushing toward the southeast corner of the warehouse.

After a brief commotion, Gengar soon returned, dragging a half-dead Pokémon behind it.

"Kecleon!"

Seeing the Pokémon, Ella’s expression instantly changed, and she exclaimed in disbelief, "The warehouse is equipped with detection devices. Unless a Pokémon has special abilities like Commander’s Gengar, it should be impossible to avoid them!"

Kecleon possessed the ability to turn invisible, but its invisibility had one fatal flaw: the pink zigzag pattern on its belly could not be hidden.

This meant that when it turned invisible, all parts of its body disappeared—except for the pink zigzag pattern on its belly, which refused to vanish, as if rebelling on purpose.

And the pink pattern was so bright!

So its invisibility ability was basically a joke, though it did have some use in very specific environments.

"A Shiny Kecleon, and at the Pseudo-Champion level at that. They've really spent a lot," Julian sneered.

Everyone knew that shiny Pokémon weren’t just different in color—they usually possessed some sort of special innate ability.

For example, Julian’s Metagross, due to its shiny nature, had defensive power twice that of a normal-colored Metagross.

And his Gengar possessed the ability of absolute invisibility.

As for this Kecleon—it was black. Normal Kecleon were green.

This black Kecleon, when turning invisible, could hide not only the pattern on its belly but also the aura it emitted.

If Julian didn’t have the Seven-Aperture Stone—which allowed him to sense the thoughts of living beings within a certain range, he might not have detected it.

This was precisely why he believed Ella hadn’t betrayed him—not based on his personal bias, but because he could sense it.

Julian didn’t believe he possessed such immense charm.

He didn’t believe in absolute loyalty; loyalty was simply a matter of whether the price of betrayal was high enough.

It was precisely because he could sense the thoughts of nearby creatures that Julian detected a fourth presence in the warehouse besides himself, Ella, and Gengar.

"Report this matter to great-uncle. He’ll handle it," Julian said.

Whether this was orchestrated by foreign forces or domestic ones, one thing was certain: there were definitely people within the country involved.

"Yes," Ella nodded, her pretty face cold with anger. She had been used by them and almost lost the Commander’s trust.

These people deserved to die.

With that thought, Ella left the warehouse.

"Come out."

Once Ella left and closed the door behind her, Julian spoke calmly into the warehouse.

Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought someone else was still inside.

The Unown in his chest had been heating up ever since he entered the warehouse, clearly indicating that among the many ancient stone tablets stored here, there were indeed Unown present.

As soon as he finished speaking, three Unown emerged from two different ancient stone tablets. They floated before Julian, studied him briefly, and then plunged straight into his chest.

The three Unown were shaped as I, X, and W.

Counting these three, Julian already had sixteen Unown within him.

He focused for a moment, then revealed a slightly disappointed expression.

The addition of these three hadn’t granted him any passive or active abilities.

Out of tens of thousands of ancient stone tablets, only three Unown emerged—the "drop rate" was simply too low.

Many more Unown were probably still dormant in undiscovered or unexplored Ruins, or in the private collections of various countries and individuals.

Collecting all the Unown would really be a daunting task.

Since the three Unown had emerged from two stone tablets. Julian walked over to them. Any ancient stone tablets that hosted Unown always had something special about them.

One stone tablet was broken, with only half remaining—likely the lower half. Naturally, much of the text was missing, leaving only two characters.

These two characters were in Proto-ancient Pokémon language. In Proto-ancient Pokémon language, a single character often represented several, or even dozens, of words.

"When its entire body emits a blazing light, taking on a form like the sun, it erases darkness and illuminates the world."

Just two short characters translated into dozens of words.

No wonder Proto-ancient Pokémon language was virtually impossible to understand. If not for the system, Julian would have found his IQ insulted just by looking at it.

This half stone tablet likely referred to Solgaleo.

Julian turned to the other tablet, which was relatively well-preserved. However, it wasn’t in Proto-ancient Pokémon language but ancient Pokémon language.

It contained quite a few characters.

"It possesses astonishing power capable of calming raging seas. Legend says it appears during storms."

At first glance, this description might seem to refer to Kyogre. However, at the bottom of the tablet was carved a bird-like Pokémon.

Kyogre was a "big-headed fish," so it could be ruled out directly.

This Pokémon was most likely Lugia.

In the past, it was also revered as the Sea God, but since it lacked the Water typing—being Psychic and Flying instead—it was eventually removed from the ranks of Sea Gods.
