Chapter 939: Unconventional Means
Chapter 939: Unconventional Means
Ella had already informed the Sixth Elder, James, about this matter.
Bang!
Upon hearing this, James was furious. He slammed his palm on the table, his beard practically bristling with anger.
"These rats! Do they really think they can uncover our Walker family's secrets with just a few petty tricks?"
Julian being able to command a First-class Legendary with no side effects, and even subdue two of them, definitely hid some kind of secret. As a member of the Walker family, he understood Julian’s growth better than anyone.
That growth was practically a mysterious rise to power.
Now, someone dared to probe into this secret, wasn’t that the same as digging into the Walker family’s roots?
Even they themselves didn’t pry into Julian's secret—yet these outsiders actually dared to be curious.
"Secretary Ren, take some people to Ella’s home first and check whether there are any other things installed there," James ordered.
Julian had already cleared Ella of suspicion. Otherwise, Ella would never have appeared before him in the first place. James was clear about that.
"Sixth Elder, are you saying there might be things in my home too?" Ella asked, startled.
"You’re Julian’s secretary—one of the people closest to him. How could they possibly not plant something in your home?"
"And think carefully: when did you buy these clothes, or did someone buy them for you? Specialized personnel will follow up with you on these matters later."
Ella nodded. The thought that her home might also have been bugged, and that she had been living under someone else’s surveillance, filled her with anger, but also sent a chill down her spine.
"Don't worry. As long as you remain Julian's secretary, they won't dare to touch you."
James thought Ella was frightened. He had always been quite fond of this girl—after all, she might very well become the wife of their family’s prodigy one day; that would make her a true treasure of the Walker household.
"Sixth Elder, if they really try to move against me, I'll definitely tear a chunk of flesh from them," Ella said, her pretty face cold as ice.
Although she was only Julian's secretary, before becoming his secretary, she had been an Elite-level Trainer. Moreover, Julian occasionally gave her items he no longer needed.
Her strongest Pokémon was now at the peak of Elite-level.
With strength like that—and the fact she had never shown it publicly—if someone really mistook her for a mere early-stage Elite and tried to target her, the one who died might very well be the attacker instead.
Her current strength placed her among the top figures within the Eastbrook family.
The family was originally just a small-to-medium-sized clan, not particularly powerful.
As for why a woman from such a clan was qualified to be Julian's secretary, the reason was that an ancestor of the Eastbrook family produced a truly remarkable individual.
This ancestor had once done a huge favor for several of the major families that exist today—favors like that had to be repaid.
By cashing in on the debts these major families owed the Eastbrook family, Ella finally became Julian's secretary.
"Good, you're quite a fierce one too. I like that. Keep it up. Personally, I think you're more suited to be my family's daughter-in-law than that little girl from the Aldridge family."
Ella, who had originally been angry, felt all her irritation instantly disappear with James’s words; her whole demeanor suddenly became shy and flustered.
James seemed to get more and more carried away, and thinking of Julian’s personality only made him feel a headache coming on.
Henry already had a child, but Jade was a girl.
So the continuation of Walker family's lineage still depended on Julian.
"Ella, you’ll have to be the one to take the initiative with that kid. If worst comes to worst, using some… unconventional means is fine too. Once the rice is cooked, he’ll definitely take responsibility."
Julian: 'Wrong. Actually, deep down, I’m a scoundrel, operating on the motto: don’t admit, don’t refuse, and don’t take responsibility.'
Ella’s face turned scarlet at James’s crude suggestion, never expecting him to advise her to use intoxication.
"You know how popular our kid is out there, right?"
"Hannah, that newly-crowned national goddess of the entertainment industry, is closely connected to our boy."
"People from other major families would line up their own legitimate daughters just to get them onto his bed."
"So you need to hurry. Don't regret it later when it's too late."
James's words weren't without reason. There were too many seductive vixens out there. If Julian wasn't largely indifferent to feminine charms, he might have already fallen prey to them.
After James's dose of, well, persuasion, Ella started to think that using some kind of "medicines" might not be entirely unacceptable.
Especially after James added: "Ella, the continuation of the Walker family’s bloodline depends on you."
"Sixth Elder, I… I will work hard."
Ella nodded with utmost seriousness.
Click—
Just as the motivational session concluded, the door suddenly opened, and in walked Julian.
Only Julian would enter without knocking.
Seeing Julian walk in, Ella's body stiffened. Her face turned completely red, and she became overwhelmed with embarrassment.
'The Commander would not have heard anything… right?'
"You brat, don’t you know how to knock?"
James scolded but there was no real anger in his eyes—only immense satisfaction.
With a descendant like this in the Walker family, even if he were to die right now, he could rest without regrets.
"I did knock, great-uncle. You just didn't hear. Seems your hearing's going."
"Get lost!"
Of course he knew whether Julian had knocked or not. The kid was brazenly lying right to his face.
Seeing Julian’s gaze fall onto the tea canister on his desk, James hurriedly stuffed it into his drawer.
"Cheh, stingy."
Julian curled his lip.
Last time, the tea he took from James had been used by Slowking to make tea eggs—and he had to admit, tea eggs made from that premium tea tasted incredible.
"Your grandfather has some too. Go take his," James said, his face darkening.
"I already took all of Grandpa’s."
Julian said this with an expression of utter nonchalance.
"And still have your eyes on mine? Tea leaves are meant for brewing tea. Are you eating them?"
"Yeah."
Julian nodded. "These tea leaves—Slowking used them to make tea eggs. They tasted absolutely amazing. Great-uncle, give me this canister. Next time Slowking makes tea eggs, I’ll give you a few to try."
'Dammit.'
Satisfied as he was with his grandson, this boy could really make him furious sometimes.
And judging by his expression, it seemed he really had used his last batch of premium tea to make tea eggs.
His liver ached from anger.
Just moments ago he had been thinking he could die content… now he felt like he might blow the coffin lid right off.
"State your business. If there's nothing, then get lost," James said.
"Oh, right. Great-uncle—keep finding me more ancient stone tablets. Private collectors should have quite a few. If necessary, we can just buy them outright."
The Walker family had no shortage of money. Forget buying ancient stone tablets; they could probably buy out some small countries entirely if they wanted.
That was how rich they were. That was how unreasonable it was.
