Chapter 944: Lowell

Chapter 944: Lowell

"Come on, say brother."

Julian held Jade, basking in the sun while trying to teach her to speak.

Jade was now four months old, fair and chubby, looking utterly adorable.

"Say brother, brother, follow me and say 'brother'."

"Yah, yah~"

Jade opened her big eyes wide, giggling as she reached out with her little hand.

"Julian, Jade is still too young to talk. Most children start speaking between 12 to 18 months," Alice said with a smile from the side.

Julian visited Jade every few days, so he had become quite familiar with his aunt.

"That's for other children. Our Jade is no ordinary child," Julian said matter-of-factly.

Jade carried Mew's blessing within her, which not only made her healthier but also accelerated her development.

"Where's Uncle?"

Julian hadn't seen Henry when he arrived, and he still hadn't appeared.

"He went to the company. Since Jade was born, he hasn't been there for a while. Although most matters are handled by his subordinates, there are still many things that require his personal attention," Alice explained.

She wasn't upset that Henry wasn't staying to accompany her and their daughter. He had already done more than enough. With the vast number of matters the group dealt with daily, it was remarkable he could spend this much time with them.

The Walker Group was a company wholly owned by the Walker family, with Henry as its sole chairman, overseeing the entire group's operations.

Unlike other conglomerates where shares were held by several or even a dozen families, the Walker Group operated differently.

It was no exaggeration to say that Henry's daily workload was no less than that of Drakoria's Elders Council.

The Elders Council had six elders, while Henry was just one person. Fortunately, he didn't have to handle everything personally.

"Julian, give this to her. It'll help her grow fast."

Celebi took out a fried chicken leg, its little face showing a hint of reluctance—this was the last one.

"I'll give her mine too."

Jirachi held up a bottle of cola, and it was even ice-cold.

It was already November now, this little one was lacking common sense.

"Go play somewhere else, you two should stay away from my sister in the future, especially you, Celebi."

Julian took the fried chicken leg and the ice-cold cola, eating them himself, while warning the two little ones.

He didn't want his sister influenced by these two—who believed fried chicken and cola were the greatest delicacies in the world.

After saying that, he gave each of them a flick on the forehead.

Ding Ling Ling~

Right then, the alarm went off.

It was feeding time.

Julian handed Jade back to Alice, then was about to take Celebi and Jirachi away.

Unexpectedly, Celebi refused to go.

Celebi: "I want to see how humans feed babies."

Although it was genderless and had no such concept in its mind, he definitely couldn’t let it watch that.

He simply dragged Celebi away and also picked up the equally curious Jirachi.

This kind of curiosity was completely unnecessary.

"Young Master, will you be dining here today?"

Just as he returned to the house, Henry's butler appeared seemingly out of nowhere in front of Julian. If not for Julian's strong heart, he might have jumped in fright.

"No."

Julian shook his head. As a well-behaved kid, he had promised Love that as long as he was in Lake City and there were no special circumstances, he would return home for all three meals.

Love really enjoyed taking care of Julian's daily life; it felt as if Julian was still a kid, back when he was in kindergarten. Love would pick him up and drop him off every day, taking care of his meals and daily routine.

The butler nodded.

Seeing that it was about time, Julian prepared to head back to his own home. Any moment now Love would call and urge him to return.

"Jigglypuff~ Jiggly~"

His phone rang. Seeing it was Ella calling, Julian's face fell slightly, but he still answered. Before the other person could speak, Julian said first, "If there are any documents you can't handle, just give them to great-uncle. He can manage them."

"Commander, I'm not calling to ask you to come back and handle documents. I already know you won't come back."

Hearing Ella's straightforward words, Julian felt a bit embarrassed.

"Commander, we've made progress on the last incident."

She was referring to the incident where Julian had people collect Ancient Stone Tablets. Not only had a hidden micro-camera been found on Ella, but a Shiny Kecleon had also been discovered in the warehouse storing the Ancient Stone Tablets.

It had been almost a month and a half since then.

"Oh, let me guess—it was done by a domestic family, right?"

"Yes."

Ella was somewhat surprised.

"Commander, how did you guess that?" Ella asked, puzzled.

Without knowing the details, she would have been more inclined to believe it was a foreign force rather than a domestic one.

After all, Julian’s prestige within the country was simply too great, and not long after the Babath incident ended, someone actually dared to target him domestically?

"Because foreign forces wouldn’t dare. They know that if I were to find out, their entire country would suffer—Reshiram and Zekrom would teach them a lesson."

"Besides, it’s not like you don’t know about the infighting in our country. Whether in times of prosperity or turmoil, internal conflict has always been a constant."

"So tell me, which family is it?"

"The Lowell family."

"The Lowell family?"

Julian mentally went through all the major Trainer families he knew, but he couldn’t recall a single one named Lowell.

"The Lowell family is a scholar family. The previous head of the family, Richard Lowell, was an Arceus Award recipient. The current head, Philip Lowell, serves as the President of the Trainers Research Association and also as the Dean of the Shu University Research Institute."

"A scholar family?"

Julian’s voice rose slightly, his expression showing surprise.

He hadn’t expected the ones behind this to be a scholar family instead of a Trainer clan, which was what he had initially suspected.

Among the influential families across nations, including those in Drakoria, the majority were undoubtedly Trainer families.

Next were Pokémon breeder clans, Pokémon healer clans, and Pokémon scholar clans, which were relatively few compared to the others.

As the name suggested, scholar families specialized in Pokémon research. Their knowledge was passed down through generations, and their understanding of Pokémon far exceeded that of scholars from non-scholarly backgrounds.

Because of this deep understanding, scholar families were exceptionally skilled in raising Pokémon.

"The Lowell family has been researching Kecleon for decades. That Shiny Kecleon is likely a result of their research."

"You’re saying that Shiny Kecleon was artificially created?" A glint of interest flashed in Julian’s eyes.

"Our investigation suggests that is indeed the case."

"That’s truly an impressive achievement. Pity it wasn’t used in the right place."

Julian felt a tinge of regret. The ability to artificially create a Shiny Kecleon alone made the Lowell family an exceptionally remarkable one.
