Pokemon: Reborn Rich Alternate Earth

Chapter 951: Gold and Copper Berry

Chapter 951: Gold and Copper Berry

Julian regretted it—he had taken in another big eater! And right from the start, it could already devour five boxes of Pokéblocks. Once its appetite grew, wouldn't it be able to eat seven or eight boxes?

Steelix was just like that. At first, it could barely finish one box per meal, but now it was already up to three.

"It’s born! It’s born! Julian, it has given birth!"

Celebi, perched on Julian's head, pointed at the abdomen of the Durant queen.

There, suddenly, appeared a Pokémon egg with silver-white patterns. The egg wasn’t very large, roughly the size of a garden ball.

Julian checked it with his Probing Eyes—it was a Durant egg with an Orange-grade potential.

Pokémon with Orange-grade potential could only reach up to level 40 in the wild.

Among wild Pokémon, the most common Orange-grade ones were Magikarp, Beedrill, Butterfree, Rattata, and others that bred quickly and developed rapidly.

Durant was naturally one of them.

Most of the Pokémon eggs laid by a Durant queen were Orange-grade, with a few being Yellow-grade. Green-grade ones were even rarer, and as for Cyan-grade, which corresponded to Elite-level potential—that was as rare as a blue moon.

Even after several years of breeding, it was unlikely that even one Cyan-grade Pokémon egg would appear.

The Durant egg laid by the Durant queen was quickly carried away by other Durants to the nursery in the nest, where all the Durant eggs were kept.

"They’ve dug it out!"

Julian kept a close watch on the progress of the Durants. They had now dug into the area marked by the red dot, and as an Elite-level Durant emerged from the mineral vein, it held a basketball-sized blue ore in its mouth.

As the Durant moved, the blue ore seemed to tremble slightly. Though it looked like ore, its texture was closer to jelly.

[Gold Berry: One of the companion ores of Copper-Gold Ore. When used, base Defense increases by 20% (limited to Steel and Rock types).]

[Note: Ineffective on Aggron, as its Defense exceeds the limit.]

---

Originally he had considered giving it to Aggron, but after seeing the information from the Probing Eyes, he had to give it up—even though Aggron was practically drooling.

Steelix and the Durant queen were also drooling. However, none of them had a share.

"Tyranitar."

Julian sent out Tyranitar.

Note: Used Stone Marrow, accelerated growth, energy absorption efficiency is six times the normal.

---

Currently, Tyranitar was already at the peak of pseudo-Elite level and had grown rapidly. Aside from Julian's substantial investment in resources, the Stone Marrow had played a significant role.

Stone Marrow enhanced energy absorption, and at six times the normal rate, it had led to Tyranitar consuming an enormous amount of ore daily.

When Julian gave the Gold Berry to Tyranitar, it seemed a bit embarrassed, especially since the senior members of the team—Aggron and Steelix—both wanted it.

"Don't worry about them. The good stuff they've eaten is more than enough," Julian reassured.

He didn’t give it to Aggron because it would have no effect, and he didn’t give it to Steelix because the berry was more suited for Tyranitar. After all, Julian was training Tyranitar to be a defensive wall.

Both Tyranitar and Aggron were Totem-class Pokémon, and Aggron had already begun to showcase the qualities of the "strongest shield." Tyranitar, however, still had a long way to go—it hadn’t even reached the Elite-level yet.

After eating the Gold Berry, Tyranitar's aura began to fluctuate intensely. Shortly after, its level broke through from 70 to 71, officially making it an Elite-level Pokémon.

Though it was now part of the second team, it was still at the bottom in terms of strength.

"Tyra!"

The breakthrough in level made Tyranitar let out a joyful roar, sending waves of sand flying into the air. It then lowered its head and affectionately rubbed its large face against Julian.

"Alright, alright," Julian smiled, patting Tyranitar's big head. He pointed to the Copper Ore dug up by the Durants nearby and said, "Go try some and see if you like the taste."

Aggron was already devouring the ore voraciously.

Copper Ore was one of the few types of ore that both Aggron and Tyranitar could eat.

Tyranitar tried a piece and found it tasted quite good, so it eagerly joined in.

About half an hour later, the Durants brought up the second item marked by the red dot too.

The Copper-Gold mineral vein was accompanied by two treasures: one was the Gold Berry, an Ultimate treasure, and the other was the Copper Berry, a sub-Ultimate treasure.

"Here," Julian said, handing the Copper Berry to Steelix, who was staring intensely.

Since Tyranitar had already eaten the Gold Berry, the Copper Berry would have no effect on it.

If it had eaten the Copper Berry first, it could have consumed the Gold Berry afterward.

After eating the Copper Berry, Steelix closed its eyes for about half a minute. When it opened them, its expression was filled with confusion and bewilderment.

'Why didn’t my level increase? I just feel like my energy increased a bit.'

Its small eyes held a big question mark.

"You idiot, your foundation is too solid. Leveling up isn’t that easy for you," Julian explained.

All of his Pokémon were virtually invincible at the same level and could even defeat opponents one tier higher. The main reason was their incredibly solid foundation.

Since their foundation was far stronger than most Pokémon, their combat prowess was naturally formidable.

However, precisely because of their solid foundation, their leveling speed was also slower than others.

Take Steelix, for example—even after consuming a sub-Ultimate treasure, it still didn’t level up.

Aside from its already solid foundation, another reason was that it had just leveled up not long ago.

Steelix was currently at level 85, just one step away from reaching level 86.

In fact, the sub-Ultimate treasure did have some effect, though not enough to trigger a level-up.

Steelix couldn’t quite grasp the meaning of "foundation being too solid," but Arcanine, who was nearby, explained: "It means you’re too awesome right now, so leveling up won’t happen that quickly."

'Oh, so that's the case—because I’m awesome, I level up slowly. That makes sense.'

Steelix’s expression brightened with sudden understanding.

Watching Arcanine explain this to Steelix, Julian felt like he was witnessing a blind person telling a deaf person, "I just saw a mute talking."

The scene was indeed somewhat bizarre.

But then again, what Arcanine said wasn’t entirely wrong.
