Chapter 966: Mega Salamence
Chapter 966: Mega Salamence
In the backyard, Julian was all set to go. Love straightened his clothes, reminded him to be safe on the road, and just as he was about to release Dragonite, he noticed Salamence’s Poké Ball shaking.
Salamence: 'Fly on me, fly on me!'
Julian released Salamence, who looked at him expectantly.
"Alright, it’ll be you then."
Julian nodded. Since Salamence had evolved, he actually hadn’t ridden it yet.
He jumped onto Salamence’s back, brought the two little ones with him, waved at Love, and with a gentle flap of Salamence’s wings, it shot into the sky like a streak of light.
Whoosh!
Julian and Salamence vanished from Love’s sight in an instant.
"Dee!"
Love shouted, "Don’t overspeed!"
But Julian was probably already too far away to hear.
Overspeed?
When riding Flying-type Pokémon in the air, relevant authorities actually did have regulations on maximum speed limits and the distance maintained between neighboring Flying-type Pokémon.
However, most trainers didn’t follow them. Their thought process was simple:
'I’m flying up in the sky, and you’re still worried about me speeding? So what if I speed? You’d never know anyway.'
Aerial traffic police were quite rare because to ride a Flying-type Pokémon, trainers must obtain a flying license, and the minimum requirement for a flying license was being at the pseudo-Elite level, with exceptions for certain special professions.
So most cities didn’t have aerial traffic police patrolling the skies. However, a metropolis like Lake City definitely had them.
At this moment, an on-duty aerial traffic officer was riding a Pidgeot, managing order in the air.
When suddenly—whoosh!—a red streak flashed past, and the resulting gust of wind it created nearly blew the officer off his Pidgeot.
"Dammit! How dare you speed right under my nose?!"
Looking at the speed measuring device in his hand, it was flashing red. Seeing the reading that showed a speed 500% over the limit, the aerial traffic officer immediately urged his Pidgeot to give chase.
But the Pidgeot didn’t move.
"Pidgeot, go! Hurry up and chase them!" the officer said anxiously.
Pidgeot: 'Chase who? I can’t even see their taillights.'
Alright, the officer seemed to understand Pidgeot’s meaning. He smiled awkwardly, then his expression turned serious as he picked up the high-speed camera mounted on Pidgeot.
"Let me see who’s so bold, speeding 500% over the limit. If I don’t revoke your flying license then—oh, it's Champion Walker…"
"Well since it’s Champion Walker, then it’s fine."
"As expected of Champion Walker, even speeding looks so dashing. And that Salamence’s gaze is incredibly sharp too."
Pidgeot glanced at its partner with a hint of disdain. 'Didn't you back down a little too quickly? Weren’t you going to revoke his flying license?'
Under Salamence’s full-speed flight, a white trail of clouds was left in the sky.
Sitting on its back, protected by a psychic barrier, Julian could still keep his eyes open without issue. Sensing Salamence’s joyful energy, Julian suddenly said, "Salamence, Mega Evolve!"
As a brilliant multicolored light surged, Mega Salamence emerged.
Mega Salamence’s Ability was Aerilate, and its wings resembled crimson crescent moons. In this form, its flying speed increased even further, allowing it to navigate even extremely complex terrain at high speeds.
BOOM!
Like an engine suddenly injected with nitro, Mega Salamence’s speed kept climbing. If a speedometer had tried to measure it, it probably would have exploded on the spot.
From the ground, one could see a blood-red streak flash across the sky, slicing the clouds in half.
Due to its blood-red wings, Salamence was called the "Blood-Winged Dragon" in some countries—not only for its wings, but also for its notorious temper.
Hydreigon and Salamence, these two pseudo-legendaries dragons were notorious for their violent tempers—especially Hydreigon. Because it had three heads, once it went into a frenzy, it would slaughter every living creature in sight.
Incidents of Hydreigon killing its own trainer were no longer even considered news nowadays.
With Mega Salamence’s speed, it took Julian just over ten minutes to travel from his home in Lake City to the Cavendish family residence in Orient City where his grandmother lived.
Julian hadn’t informed his grandmother in advance—planning to surprise her.
As Mega Salamence suddenly descended over the Cavendish family estate, the aura of a mid-stage Elite radiated outward, giving the Cavendish family guards quite a fright.
The Cavendish family’s guard team immediately rushed over.
"How bold—daring to act so recklessly here! Is this guy not from Drakoria? Doesn’t he know Champion Walker’s grandmother lives here?!"
The captain of the Cavendish family guard team cursed angrily.
"Tone it down a bit, you’re scaring them."
Julian patted Mega Salamence’s neck and then deactivated the Mega Evolution.
Since Salamence hadn't launched an attack, the Cavendish family guards remained unsure of the situation. But as Salamence slowly descended, they finally saw that the person riding on its back was none other than Julian.
"Champion Walker, what brings you here?"
The guard captain scurried over to Julian.
"Of course, I'm here to see my grandmother."
Recalling Salamence, Julian stated the obvious.
"I thought as much. Just the other day, I overheard the Elder mentioning you."
As he spoke, the captain pulled out a small notebook from his pocket. "Champion Walker, can I get your autograph? My daughter is a huge fan."
"Didn't I sign one for you before?"
"That was before you had the Black and White Dragons."
The guard captain was quite familiar with Julian and knew he was easygoing, so his tone naturally became more casual.
"Fair point."
Julian took the pen and signed his name in bold strokes.
"Next time I catch another First-class Legendary, I'll sign another one for you."
"That would be wonderful. Thank you, Champion Walker!"
The captain happily tucked the autograph into his pocket. His daughter's long-awaited task was finally complete—he'd been waiting for Julian for months and had finally caught him.
While they were talking, Julian's grandmother, Evelyn, emerged from the house. She had just been told her grandson had arrived.
Having consumed the Glossy Ganoderma, Ambrosia, and Beauty Berries—Evelyn who was actually over seventy years old, looked to be in her forties.
"Grandma!"
Julian called out.
"You child—why didn’t you tell me before coming?"
Evelyn gently patted her beloved grandson, the joy in her eyes unmistakable.
"I wanted to surprise you. So? Did you like it?" Julian said with a smile.
Evelyn nodded. "I do, I do. But I'd like it even more if you brought one more person next time."
Sure enough… she started urging marriage the moment they met.
"Alright, I'll bring my dad next time."
Julian nodded seriously, putting on a straight face.
"You brat, are you pretending not to understand on purpose?"
Evelyn lightly pinched her grandson's ear, scolding him with a smile.
But she didn’t continue. Her own marriage had been a failure, so she would not interfere too much in her dear grandson’s affairs.
After all, given how outstanding her grandson was, plenty of women would be lining up for him anyway.
