Chapter 975: Moltres

Chapter 975: Moltres

Julian said this just to be prepared for the worst. After all, no one knew what Solgaleo would be like after waking up—whether it would harbor hostility toward humans or not.

This was Drakoria, not Babath. Fighting in Babath was fine, Julian did not feel any heartache, but here it was not acceptable.

So they had to be prepared for the worst-case scenario.

"Let's go."

After glancing at Tapu Koko, Julian stepped through the portal into the Secret Realm, with Tapu Koko following closely behind.

Once Julian entered, the soldiers guarding the Secret Realm snapped out of their daze. Remembering Julian’s words, they immediately and precisely reported the situation to the Elders Council.

The Elders Council was also deeply shocked by the news and immediately sprang into action, initiating the evacuation of all civilians in Lake City and the surrounding urban areas.

Since Julian had said this, there must be some basis for it. Even if the possibility was only one in ten thousand, who would dare gamble with the lives of hundreds of millions of people?

Anyone who dared to take that risk would be considered a traitor to the nation, regardless of whether the event actually occurred.

As soon as Julian entered the Secret Realm, he immediately sensed that the energy within was different from his last visit—it was now far more active.

"Has your Metagross already become a Champion?"

Tapu Koko had been holding back this question for a long while and finally couldn’t resist asking.

Earlier when Metagross used Teleport to bring Julian over, Tapu Koko had already sensed that Metagross’s aura seemed stronger than its own.

It had wanted to ask at that time, but the confusion over the Secret Realm Token had distracted it.

Now inside the Secret Realm, Tapu Koko couldn’t help but ask.

"Yep, you have good eyes. Metagross is already at level 94. Tapu Koko, it’s been two years since we last met, why haven’t you made any progress? Don’t tell me the so-called strongest Island Guardian can't even break through to the Champion-level?"

Listening to Julian’s teasing, Tapu Koko felt both annoyed and astonished.

Two years ago, Metagross wasn’t even a Pseudo-Champion—it was only at the late-stage Elite-level, while Tapu Koko itself had been at the peak of Pseudo-Champion.

Although back then, even as a peak Pseudo-Champion, it had still been defeated by a late-stage Elite Metagross.

But even so, hadn’t Metagross progressed a bit too outrageously?

Two years—from late-stage Elite to mid-stage Champion. Was this even reasonable?!

"Our power as Guardians is bestowed upon us by Lord Solgaleo and Lord Lunala. Besides having long lifespans, our strength does not improve over time."

It wasn’t Tapu Koko who spoke, but Tapu Fini, who had just arrived.

The other three Island Guardians had also gathered.

Hearing Tapu Fini’s explanation, Julian wore an expression that clearly said he did not believe it at all—as if he thought they were just lazy and making excuses.

This deeply annoyed the four Guardians, but they had already been defeated by Julian back then. And now that Metagross had reached the Champion-level, even if they ganged up and borrowed the power of the islands, they probably still wouldn’t be a match for Metagross.

Suddenly, a Poké Ball at Julian’s waist shook violently.

The next second, Moltres burst out of it.

"Tres~"

A piercing cry echoed across the sky, accompanied by the overwhelming aura of a Champion-level Pokémon.

"Impossible!!!!"

Tapu Lele let out a shriek upon seeing Moltres.

This thing, which it had once treated as nothing more than a tool bird, had actually become a Champion?! Was it hallucinating?!

It shook its head, blinked hard, and looked again—still a Champion. Shook its head once more—yep, still a Champion.

After confirming that Moltres truly was a Champion, Tapu Lele’s expression turned ashen, and its entire body seemed to stiffen into a statue.

The sense of disparity was just too overwhelming.

Moltres had once been nothing more than a tool bird in its eyes, used to suppress volcanoes. Now, after just two years, this tool bird had transformed into a Champion.

Talk about a rags-to-riches story!

Seeing Tapu Lele’s intense sense of defeat, Moltres roared inwardly: 'Yes, yes, yes! That’s the expression! So satisfying, absolutely thrilling!'

Moltres never imagined it would one day return to this Secret Realm and flaunt its newfound status right in front of Tapu Lele—the very "landlord" who had once exploited it.

"Oh, right. Moltres has become a Champion too, Tapu Lele. Moltres came from your island, right? Why do you look so unhappy about it?"

As a trainer, Julian understood exactly what Moltres was thinking, so he played along perfectly.

Moltres flew right up to Tapu Lele. "Well, well, if it isn’t the Island Lord. How come your strength hasn’t budged an inch, like a Squirtle stuck in its shell? Look at me—ever since I followed my trainer, my power’s been soaring higher and higher!"

"I just became a Champion not long ago, you know~"

"Ah, Island Lord, I’m not trying to show off or anything—just stating the facts~"

Watching the bird flaunt itself right in front of it, Tapu Lele felt nothing but regret. Why had it allowed Julian to capture it back then?

If it hadn’t agreed, this bird would still be nothing more than a tool.

"Island Lord, why aren’t you saying anything? Don’t you like to talk?"

Moltres circled around Tapu Lele. Though it hadn’t been in human society for long, because of Celebi’s influence, it had spent plenty of time watching TikTok and had mastered the art of sarcasm.

Tapu Lele was seething inside but forced a smile while gritting its teeth and replied, "Our strength as Guardians does not improve. We bear the responsibility of protecting the islands—something you would never understand."

It adopted an air of carrying a great mission, while Moltres was just a bird that loved to show off.

"Julian, we were right about you after all."

Tapu Koko looked at Julian with a sigh of admiration.

The four Guardians had given Julian the Secret Realm Token not just because he had defeated them, but because they saw potential in him.

They believed that in the future, Julian could help them, as well as Solgaleo and Lunala, which was why they entrusted him with the token.

They had thought it would take at least a decade or more for Julian to be of real help. Yet, in just over two years, his strength had grown from Elite-level to mid-stage Champion.

Honestly, they were at a loss for words. His progress was simply too staggering.

If not for the fact that Julian’s aura remained exactly the same as before, they might have suspected he was a completely different person.

"Gen~"

Gengar appeared.

"I’m a Champion too."

Another Champion-level Pokémon.

Tapu Bulu’s eyes nearly popped out of its head. Not two, but three—wait, judging by this human’s expression… could there be more?

"I have four."

Holding up four fingers, Julian said calmly.

"Sssss—"

All four Island Guardians gasped in unison.

Terrifyingly formidable!
