Chapter 977: Chapter 1194: Reward
Chapter 977: Chapter 1194: Reward
The next day, Julian yawned as he walked downstairs, his eyes barely open.
He had stayed up too late playing Pokémon Glory with the two little ones last night, and this morning, Love had forcibly woken him up for breakfast. No wonder he could barely keep his eyes open.
"Coach."
In his drowsiness, he seemed to hear a familiar voice.
Then he caught a whiff of a fragrant breeze, and the next moment, he found himself being hugged by someone.
"Coach, thank you."
Gemma felt both grateful and fearful toward Julian, but in the end, gratitude won out.
Without Julian's help, not only would her Steelix not have broken through to the pseudo-Elite level, but she wouldn't even have secured a good ranking in the League.
Now, all six of her main team Pokémon had reached the pseudo-Elite level, her mental strength and stamina had greatly improved, and she had successfully become the Champion of the Silver League.
She knew very well that all of this was because of Julian.
If it weren't for the fact that the award ceremony last night had ended quite late, she would have come over immediately.
That was why she had come early this morning—not only to express her gratitude to Julian and to claim the reward he had mentioned but also for another reason.
She looked at the breakfast on the table, the aroma was absolutely irresistible.
"Slow~"
Slowking had already prepared bowls and chopsticks for Julian and Gemma.
"Have you eaten?"
Julian could tell from Gemma's expression that she hadn't.
"No," Gemma shook her head.
"Oh, then you can order some takeout."
With that, Julian sat down and started eating.
"Coach, you're so stingy. What's the big deal if I eat a little of your food?"
Gemma plopped down next to Julian, picked up the chopsticks, and started eating right away.
During this period, she had come to understand Julian's personality—he was easygoing and had an extremely good temper.
Despite possessing power that surpassed the world, he carried none of the arrogance typically associated with the strong.
If it were her in his place with even half his achievements, she would be looking down on everyone with a smug expression, acting like she was the hottest shot around.
In contrast, her own father, who was only an Elite-level trainer, was extremely stern and unapproachable in public.
For breakfast, the two little ones ate half, while Julian and Gemma finished the other half.
This woman wasn't very tall, but she sure could eat.
Julian glanced at her slightly bulging belly—turns out the saying that women's stomachs remain perfectly flat no matter how much they eat was nothing but a lie.
Noticing Julian's gaze, Gemma blushed slightly and took a deep breath, trying to suck in her stomach. But unfortunately, she had eaten a bit too much this time, and it wouldn't go back in.
"Coach, didn't you say you were going to give me a reward?" Gemma quickly changed the subject.
Julian had told her that if she won the Championship, he would give her a reward.
"Follow me."
Julian stood up and walked away.
Gemma quickly followed.
"Actually, Coach, you don't have to give me anything. You've already given me Aggron's Mega Stone," Gemma said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
She really felt bad accepting more. Just during the training period alone, Julian had already fed her Pokémon quite a few precious treasures.
And then he had given her an Aggronite—something that was almost never available on the market. Even with her family background, it would have been extremely difficult to obtain one.
As the third most prominent Steel-type family, they only had two Aggronites in total. Even saying that out loud felt a bit embarrassing.
"Oh, I almost forgot about that," Julian said casually.
Gemma: 'Damn rich guys!'
She struggled to keep a smile on her face; otherwise, she was afraid she might bare her teeth at him.
Out in the world, she was the one called a rich heiress, but compared to a real wealthy powerhouse, her family was just a bunch of poor folks.
"You're cursing me," Julian grinned, looking at her.
"No, how could I?"
Gemma quickly shook her head, suddenly remembering that the man beside her possessed Master-level Psychic abilities and Advanced Aura power.
Both of those abilities could sense what someone was thinking.
In fact, Julian's Aura power was also Master-level.
"Let's go."
Julian glanced at her indifferently. He didn't have the time to eavesdrop on her thoughts—the only reason he knew was because everything on this woman's mind was written all over her face.
The two soon arrived at the backyard.
"Coach, where's my reward?" Gemma eagerly asked.
She had high expectations for whatever Julian was going to give her. Given his status, it definitely wouldn't be anything ordinary.
"That Duraludon over there is your reward. Blue-grade potential should be more than enough for you at this stage."
Julian pointed at a slightly smaller Duraludon that was currently chatting with his own.
His Duraludon was a shiny variant, mostly light blue in color. The smaller one was the normal white.
Over the years, the Duraludon population under the Walker family's control had grown significantly, producing quite a few individuals with outstanding Potential.
The one before them was one of them.
For a trainer, the best rewards were always Pokémon and valuable treasures.
Gemma didn't lack treasures at all during this time, but no one would ever complain about having more Pokémon—especially one with Blue-grade Potential.
As the League Champion, she had already been rewarded with a Cyan-grade Bronzor, which would evolve into Bronzong—a very useful Pokémon.
But of course, Gemma preferred Duraludon. The reason was simple, because Julian was giving it to her. Even if he had given her a plain Oddish, she would have loved it just the same.
"Duraludon is both Steel-type and Dragon-type, combining Steel-type defense with Dragon-type special attack. Aside from its slightly low special defense, its other stats are excellent."
As he spoke, Julian handed Gemma the Poké Ball belonging to the Duraludon.
"Go talk to it. If it's willing, let it follow you. If it's not, then beat it into submission."
Gemma asked curiously, "Coach, I thought you'd say that if it doesn't agree, you'd just swap it for another Pokémon."
"Respect first, force later. If your sincerity can't move it, then use strength to conquer it. Pokémon admire strength more than humans do," Julian said calmly.
He didn't care for that whole "respect the Pokémon's will above all else" approach.
If he set his sights on something, it was his. If it disagreed, he'd beat it until it agreed.
As he spoke, Gemma suddenly felt a heavy, oppressive aura wash over her.
In that moment, she realized just how superficial her understanding of Julian had been.
Perhaps this overbearing side of him was his true nature.
But somehow… she liked him even more.
"Yes!"
Gemma responded excitedly and rushed toward the Duraludon.
Because of Julian's words, she even found herself hoping that Duraludon would refuse—so she could give it a good thrashing before it finally agreed to be caught.
"She seems a bit unhinged…"
Julian scratched his ear. Her voice had been a bit too loud just now; his eardrums were still ringing.
