Chapter 1015: Conversation With A Petty God
Chapter 1015: Conversation With A Petty God
It took another hour for the last two factions to complete their trial.
In the end, many were left dejected simply because they failed to secure an entry into the Pill Ascension realm.
Not that they were to be pitied. After all, they chose to cheat, and that backfired on them. Next time, they will learn not to get greedy by trying to cheat something that is beyond their understanding.
"Remember, in 30 days, you will be pulled out of the Pill Ascension realm if you are still alive. So handle all you have to quickly before the time is up," the Pill Legend said.
Everyone nodded.
"Then get moving; the earlier you enter, the faster you may locate treasures."
Right when he said that, all qualified alchemists started flying into the portal. They couldn’t wait to get their hands on some treasures.
Kent stood back and let more people enter.
He was pondering the strange voice he heard in his head. There was no malice in the voice; however, he could tell the playfulness in it.
’He sounded like he couldn’t wait to toy with me. Personally, I prefer to be targeted with killing intent instead of being toyed with. At least with the former, I will know who to kill.’
Kent could only sigh.
’I guess we will meet soon, and hopefully, I will have the last laugh’
Eventually, the number had thinned down, so he decided to enter.
He turned and waved at Yuna and Pill Monarch Nefeli first before walking forward.
The moment he stepped into the portal, he felt his surroundings twist, and then he appeared in a large room, face-to-face with a white-haired, long-bearded man whose face was painted with an amused smile.
"Finally, you are here," the man said, gesturing for Kent to sit down.
However, he refused because he sensed another presence in the room that made his skin crawl.
He turned to his left only to see a pale-looking man with glowing face tattoos smiling at him. Kent instinctively took a step back, raising his guard.
"Behave, Gaap. He is an old friend."
Gaap turned to the white-bearded man and smirked, "Boring..."
Gaap vanished, leaving Kent and the white-haired man.
"Sit down, Kevin Sage. We have a lot to talk about."
"Is this an Immortal World?" Kent asked instead of sitting down. Something told him sitting down would be bad for him, so he first wanted to clear the air.
"Persistent, I see," the white-bearded man smiled, "But why do you ask?"
"That man is at the peak of the True Immortal stage," Kent didn’t want to admit, but the man gave him the heebie-jeebies.
Perhaps if he were at the Immortal stage, looking at someone at the Root, Spirit, and Core Immortal stages wouldn’t have scared him. But he was too low in cultivation base.
In fact, Kent seemed to glimpse something that made him start to wonder if he would be ready to face an Immortal when he reached the Heavenly Ascension stage.
’What the hell is this?’
The white-bearded man smiled, "Always smart and perceptive, Sage. Not many would have seen through his cultivation base, but you did. That is admirable.
However, to answer your question, you must first sit."
"Do I have a choice?"
"No."
"Can I leave if I sit?"
"That will depend."
"Would my friends be safe?"
"That will also depend on you. So what do you say, do you want to indulge this old man in a game of GO?"
Kent sighs. "For a God to bully a mortal, I can’t help but wonder just what shamelessness is."
Kent shook his head and sat down. The smile on the white-bearded man’s face bloomed. "Very perceptive, Sage. You even saw through me."
"The answer to your question is yes and no. Yes, this place is an Immortal World, but no, it is also not an Immortal World."
"I don’t understand."
"It is very simple. This place is a domain. I created it when I became a god, and as such, I made the rules here. However, this is not the real me. Maybe I am even dead, or worse, still alive somewhere waiting for you to surface again.
So this place can be regarded as an Immortal World or a High World. However, a more fitting name should be a Unique World."
"If that is the case, then wouldn’t the people from High Worlds face dangers here?" Kent asked, thinking about the disciples currently inside the Pill Ascension Realm.
Unique Worlds are worlds that have no restrictions on them, meaning even Celestials can exist in them. So if this place is a Unique World, then doesn’t that make it an extremely dangerous place to be for beings merely from High Worlds?
"True. However, I make the rules, and as such, I made it so all beings from the High World face dangers limited to their level.
Meaning the strongest danger they will ever face would be at the Heavenly Ascension stage."
"I see. That makes me calm a bit," Kent sighed. He doesn’t care about the other Pill factions aside from Pill Sage Flura and the 24 disciples from Pyris Pill Alliance.
So hearing they aren’t in danger of a Unique World makes him calm down a bit.
However, the white-bearded man smiled, "That said, things can become very difficult for them unless you play a game with me." The man picked another black bead and placed it on the board.
"First, I will ask a question, and using your intellect that I know you have, to answer. If your answer suits me, I will grant a wish for someone you choose.
However, if your answer is lacking, then there are 25 people I can select from to feel some necessary pain."
The white-bearded man laughed, and Kent narrowed his eyes at him.
"What do you want?" he asked, his gaze turning cold...
"Very simple. The you I knew was regarded as very brilliant. Of course, you had your flaws, but among the many scholars I met, you were the most knowledgeable of them all.
So, show me if you’ve always been brilliant or if it was something you became along the way.
The questions will be out of this world, perhaps even out of this Universe. But you must give me a satisfactory answer, one that will calm me down and give me a reason to think."
"You sound like someone who is bored. Makes me wonder if you are the God of Boring and Useless," Kent snapped, seeing no reason for him to know something beyond him.
"You know, I met a god once, and from what I observe, she is much better and wiser than you. So if you think you can play mind games with me, then you have another thing coming." Kent chuckled, wearing a disdainful expression, but the white-bearded man merely smiled.
"Listen to my question first and then judge me after," he smiled, "If the heavens reject you and the entire Universe despises you, what then can be done, and what do you think was the cause?
Is it the heavens that rebel? Are they afraid of someone or something? Or are they no longer in control?
If that is the case, can you tell me what will happen if the heavens are no longer in control?"
