Chapter 1017: To Change One’s Fate [Bonus]
"Please tell me I didn’t die screaming," Kent asked, a smile playing on his face. For someone who just heard he will die in 5 years’ time, he was surprisingly composed.
Paragon smiled, "You were surprisingly quiet despite having your eyes dug out using a hot iron, limbs severed, flesh peeled off, and burned inside out."
Kent laughed, and so did Paragon, "I have to say, you are surprisingly tougher than you look. I am impressed."
"Well, thank you, kind sir. However, if you can tell me how to save my skin, that will be great. I have no plans on dying just yet, so let’s get on it."
"That is why I am here, Kent, to help you change your fate. However, it won’t be easy."
"As long as it saves me from dying, I don’t mind." Kent sighed. Dying is not a worry to him. However, thinking about the beauties he will leave behind, heartbroken and in tears, is what worries him. So, changing his fate is something he wouldn’t joke about.
"To change one’s fate is to defy the heavens, Kent. Are you ready to defy the heavens?"
"Could be fun," Kent smiled...
"It is indeed fun. However, you are still too weak to do that. Maybe in your universe, you can do that, but in mine, you are still too weak."
Kent nodded, already sensing something from Paragon that keeps making him feel inferior. "Then how does one become worthy of challenging the heavens?"
"That will depend on you, Kent. I cannot tell you because when the day comes, you will know, and you will have to make a decision on your own.
But what I can help you with is a way to overcome your limitations. As you already know, I am a Paragon, someone who doesn’t give a fuck what the heavens think.
So when it comes to breaking limits, I am the most qualified. So do you want to hear what I have to say?"
"Flow, Paragon... I am all ears."
"I don’t have much time, so listen carefully. This vessel I am wearing is a resourceful man. He has gathered an array of Primordial Flames for billions of years, grooming them for when he will meet you again.
In his eyes, he is waiting to play games with you. However, for your luck, you have met me. But for his misfortune, he met me.
Now, he will be sending you to a place where you will have to fight seven deadly foes. Naturally, you must win all seven battles.
However, after the battles, two doors will open for you. The left door will promise you the riches you are after... My advice is to ignore that and enter the right door.
It is called Hell Road, a dangerous path filled with terror and pain. However, that is the road you should walk.
If you manage to walk it completely, then know this: after living here, your journey to changing your fate will begin."
Kent nodded...
"You also cannot depend on your companions," Paragon said, looking at the Taming bracelet. "Since your plan is to farm Primordial Flames, allow them to do that. Your journey is a solo one, and you must walk it alone."
"Okay."
Kent noticed that Paragon’s appearance was starting to revert to that of the white-bearded man.
"At least tell me your real name since you know mine."
Paragon smiled and said, "When the Destiny Key calls, answer, and when the time comes, you will have a 2-minute window of defiance. My advice, relish it, for being a Paragon is dope as fuck, even if it lasts for just 2 minutes."
With a mocking smile, the white-bearded man appeared, causing Kent to smirk.
"Woooo, feels like I have eaten a mushroom," the white-bearded man said.
"You have no idea," Kent laughed and asked, "You owe me three wishes, Old Man. When can I redeem them?"
"Go ahead, wish away."
"Then I won’t be polite. Since I can’t use the wishes on myself," he paused and tapped the Taming Bracelet, and at once, Sylavara, Orvath, Kaelith, Zeraphine, Vey, Balrion, and Ignarok appeared.
"I wish for you to send my companions to a place where they can farm Primordial Flames." Kent smiled as he said that.
"Fine," the white-bearded man smirked.
Kent then turned to the seven monarchs, "Sorry, guys, but I will be parting with you for now. But fear not, nothing will happen to me.
However, you now have a golden opportunity. Use it well, and please, don’t be polite. If you can take all the Primordial Flames, do so. This old man picked the wrong dragon to play with." Kent gave the white-bearded man a look and a laugh.
He then retrieved the bracelet and handed it to Sylavara, "You can store the flames in there."
"Okay, Lord Chaos," Ignarok said, asserting dominance. "Fear not, you will have more than enough Primordial Flames when you return."
"Okay," he kissed Sylavara, and then he turned to the white-bearded man, "You can send them away."
With a wave of his hand, all seven monarchs vanished. "Some interesting beasts you have, Sage. Now, your second wish."
Kent smiled and said, "For my second wish, I wish for my companion, named Flura, to be sent to a place that will change her life for the better."
"Oh, come on. Isn’t that a bit vague?"
Kent smirked, "You are a god who governs this place. I am sure you have the best place to send her."
"I brought this on myself," the white-bearded man sighed and snapped his finger.
Somewhere in the Pill Ascension Realm, Pill Sage Flura was suddenly teleported away, appearing in front of a tall castle. In front of the castle, a name was boldly plastered:
"Pill Ascension Trial Tower."
The name said it all, so she didn’t hesitate to enter. After all, if she wants Pill Making Knowledge and Primordial Flames, she has arrived at the best place.
"It is done. Now, your last wish."
Kent laughed, "Simple, actually. I wish for the disciples of the Pyris Pill Alliance to enter the Disciple Trial of the Pill Ascension Sect."
"You—" the white-bearded man became angry, "How did you know such a place exists? You haven’t yet recovered your memory. I would know. So then how did you know?"
Kent chuckled, "Now, I know it exists thanks to you, so please send them there and make sure, within 30 days, they will come out wealthy and knowledgeable."
The white-bearded man stared at Kent for a few minutes before a sigh escaped his lips. "You know, I seem to have forgotten how annoying you are, Sage.
However, I will play your game. I just hope you don’t regret your actions."
"I wouldn’t be me if I had regrets, Old Man."
"Very well." The Old Man snapped his finger again, and this time, 24 people were sent into a trial where they would be groomed in the path of Alchemy.
By the time the 30 days are over, 24 knowledgeable Alchemists will emerge with knowledge about Alchemy that hadn’t appeared before in this current era.
After doing that, he turned to Kent, "Now, it is time for you to pay the price for your insolence."
"Bring it on, Old Man."
He snapped his finger, and Gaap appeared in the room with a twisted smile.
