Chapter 1271: Unexpected News
Chapter 1271: Unexpected News
"Something like that," Ryan said with a beaten sigh. Ryen continued, "The only way to keep our families protected is by having money.
However, making money in Dark City is extremely hard, so we had to come all the way here to see if we can kill some of the sought-after beasts. Their bodies sell for quite a few spirit stones"
Ryen also sighed, but she continued, "We had some success since both of us had formed pretty strong shadow domains. With our strength, we managed to keep our families protected.
However, three days ago, the youngest son of the current Dark Lord tried to assault our little sister, who had just started her cultivation.
Safe to say we didn’t take kindly to that. In the end, our entire family was captured, and unless we bring a scale from a Metallic Scale Slash Snake, they would be sold into slavery."
"Did that bastard at least die?" Kent asked with a chuckle. He already hated the bastard without knowing him.
The mere fact that he tried to force himself on someone without their consent is a clear sign of how such a person should be treated.
Ryan shook his head, "Unfortunately, no. He survived since his death would have been our death."
"I see." Kent didn’t even have to be told twice what kind of beating he would have to give this bastard when he got his hands on him.
In the past, he had assassinated many like him. Now, if he had the time, he would kill him to save a lot of young girls the pain of being suppressed by such scum.
"One last thing, if I want to enter the Upside Down Underworld Forest, where do I get an underworld token?"
This time, Ryan and Ryen widened their eyes, unsure of what to even say.
"You are kidding, right?" Ryen asked, looking at Kent with a stunned expression.
"I am dead serious. I want to get one since my reason for coming here is to enter the Upside Down Underworld Forest. This is why I would like to know where to go to get one."
"Haven’t you heard?"
"Heard what?" Kent stared at Ryan with a calm yet questioning gaze.
He seemed to be missing something, which is perfectly understandable. It has been billions of years already since he ventured into the Upside Down Underworld Forest, so it is normal if some things skipped him.
However, from the way the siblings are looking at him, it seems something big happened that he would soon be made aware of.
Ryan stared at his sister and then sighed... "From what I know, about half a million years ago, the Upside Down Underworld Forest fell."
"Fell? As in the upside down fell to the ground?"
"Yes. It fell, and nobody knew what caused it. However, from what I was told, when it did, something nobody was prepared for stirred within it.
All who went to inspect never returned. Later, rumours spread that the mysterious Midnight Shadows sent immortals to come and check." Ryan paused and calculated his words before continuing.
"They said twenty immortals entered and only one returned, barely hanging on to his life. They said he said only one word before passing out. He never woke up. Also, nobody was able to decipher the meaning behind that word."
"And what word was that?"
Ryan hesitated, but he said it, "Zhaeryn."
Kent’s eyes widened as he came to a sudden stop, his heartbeat rising in an instant.
Ryan and Ryen also stopped and turned to look at Kent. They were shocked to see he had turned pale. Naturally, they seemed to think he understood the word.
However, they didn’t dare ask him.
"Are you all right?" Instead, they decided to check up on him. Hearing Ryen’s concerned voice, Kent pulled himself together.
"I am fine." He let a smile appear on his face, but the two siblings knew he was merely putting up a farce. Kent was not fine one bit.
However, yet again, they didn’t dare ask him anything aside from looking at him. Eventually, Kent recovered and returned to his former self.
"Please tell me they’ve sealed the entrance after the fall," Kent suddenly asked.
"They did. An Immortal Lord from the Midnight Shadows came to seal it personally. From what I’ve heard, only a select few from the Midnight Shadows can enter.
Of course, all of this is what people said, and I heard. I apologise if I didn’t know everything."
"Thank you," Kent said and resumed flying. Ryan and Ryen followed.
Kent remained quiet, but his mind was spinning like a ball rolling down a steep slope. He had wanted to hear something dangerous, but what he had chanced upon was beyond dangerous.
’It can’t be. It can’t be them. It is still too early to be them.’

[Core of the Universe]
While Kent’s mind was spinning, a cosmic meeting was about to take place at the core of the universe between Lady Universe, the Enchantress, and Fate...
Lady Universe turned and looked at the silhouette of the Enchantress, then she turned to Fate. That sly old man, despite manifesting himself like a hologram inside the core of the universe, still had a pipe in his mouth.
Of course, since Lady Universe and the Enchantress said nothing, he could only continue to smoke it.
"So whose fault is it?" Lady Universe asked, directing her comment to the Enchantress and Fate. However, they both knew she was talking to Fate.
That old fox smiled and shook his head, "Don’t look at me like I have committed a grave sin. I am old, so my memory isn’t as sharp as before."
"Oh, cut your nonsense. You are Fate. Clearly, you knew what you were doing. Don’t blame it on your bad memory," the Enchantress fired back at him, already annoyed at Fate.
"Why did you do it? You and I both know the moment he learned that his adversaries are back, he would become restless, so why did you do it?"
Both Lady Universe and the Enchantress seemed pissed at Fate.
What many didn’t know was that when the Primordial Era fell, it wasn’t because the Void Beasts won. It was actually the opposite; it was because they lost that the Primordial Era fell.
The reason being, to seal them back, the entire Primordial Era was sacrificed. Of course, many lived to continue the many eras that came after the First Era. However, the majority of it was destroyed.
The seal prevented the Void Beasts from coming back.
However, they already knew a day would come when they would return. They would first come by influencing the universe to open a path for them.
They used the Fordaken race for that when they invaded the Primordial era, and now it seems they are trying the same, yet different, method.
Zhaeryn is a word from a language called Aelthryn. This language was the natural dialect of the Void Beasts Race.
It translates to Mutation.
While mutation is something that happens among beasts of all races and types, when spoken in Aelthryn, it means a Void Temple had appeared, and a mutation had started taking place.
It is a foreign language, and as such, only primordial beings understood it.
Kent had no idea why, but it seemed now he was fated to enter this place... Naturally, for the first time, he felt fear.
And all this was Fate’s fault.
