Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 1272: A Short Story

Chapter 1272: A Short Story

[Core Of The Universe]

"So, are you going to tell us why you did what you did?" Lady Universe asked, looking hatefully at Fate.

The old fox smiled and took a drag of his pipe, letting the smoke seep through his nostrils... He turned to the Enchantress and asked in a casual tone,

"Why don’t you pull up the timeline?"

She seemed hesitant, but to understand why Fate made Kent aware of the happenings in the Upside Down Underworld Forest, she did.

The Enchantress protects the sacred timeline of the universe. She ensures the timeline isn’t tampered with by an external force.

Within this timeline, everyone’s fate could be found and examined to some degree. Of course, since Fate was the one who commanded and controlled all fate, showing something that sacred wasn’t too much of an ask.

When the Enchantress summoned the timeline, Fate waved his hand, and a single string of fate was pulled from the countless streams of fate.

He made it hover before all three of them gathered at the core of the universe... The colour of the fate line was golden, a rather unique colour, considering most fate lines are white.

"This is the fate of someone I believe we are all aware of." The two ladies nodded.

Fate smiled and pulled another drag. Then he waved his hand, and two more threads appeared. When Lady Universe and the Enchantress saw the two purple strings of fate appear, they furrowed their brows.

"Now, tell me what you see," Fate asked like he was schooling a bunch of kids. The Enchantress and Lady Universe didn’t like his tone, but they answered.

"These strings are the fate of people destined to die unjustly."

"Indeed," Fate nodded, then waved his hand and brought the two strings of fate toward the golden one. When they got closer, they started changing from purple to white.

This made the two ladies frown a bit. Of course, they said nothing and let Fate do his thing. When he was done, the golden thread of fate remained brilliant gold, and the two purple ones turned to brilliant white.

"What do you see now?" Fate asked, and the two ladies turned and looked at each other.

"I see two fates full of light and greatness," Lady Universe responded, but then she added in a cold tone, "But this doesn’t explain what we asked you. Why did you mess with the fate of the Primordial Chaos Dragon?"

"To save the life of these twins, of course."

"Yes. But at the cost of Chaos’s. Do you know what learning about the Void Beast Race will do to him? You know of his history with them and what he had lost against these foes.

So was risking his life over two people whose original fate doesn’t have any impact on the universe really necessary?"

"Oh, but it is very necessary." Fate smiled and waved his hand again. This time, fourteen strings of fate appeared, all dull gold.

However, while they were dull gold compared to the fate thread of the Chaos Dragon, there were some similarities to them if one looks closer.

But while these threads of fate are candy to the eye, the two ladies didn’t focus on the thirteen golden threads.

They instead focused on the fourteenth thread. That one was crimson, a stark contrast to the thirteen dull gold, the brilliant gold and two white threads of fate.

When they saw this, they frowned. "What is the meaning of this, Fate?" the Enchantress asked, her wavy hair shaking behind her.

"Watch and learn, Enchantress. This might just be the only time you get to see Fate at work." The sly old fox grinned and waved his hand again.

This time, the two white threads of fate moved and stopped beside the crimson fate thread. The moment they got closer, they turned from white to gold.

"WHAT?" Both Lady Universe and the Enchantress exclaimed in shock.

"Impossible," Lady Universe was in shock, "That shouldn’t be possible, right?"

"No mortal can resonate with a True Primordial. Only a True Primordial can resonate with a True Primordial," the Enchantress said, looking at the crimson thread of fate and the two new golden lines of fate beside it.

Fate smiled and shook his head, "You say that, but we both know when it comes to fate, nobody can tell what is possible and what isn’t."

"But how? How can mere mortals break the barriers of fate and transcend beyond what is possible? How can mortals resonate with a True Primordial?"

Fate seemed taken aback by their question. He looked at them like he was looking at a bunch of troublemakers.

In his mind, all of this was their fault, yet they had absolutely no idea what was going on.

"How about I tell you a short story?" Fate said, and the two ladies frowned but nodded. It was Fate they were talking to, so they had to play by his rules.

In the Cosmic realm, every being had a role they played and rules they went by.

The old fox smiled and started his story... "A very long time ago, a lone Enchantress and a curious Universe Core decided to play a harmless game with deadly consequences with mortals." The expression on their faces changed, but Fate didn’t mind.

"They believed mortals were limited to the rules binding them, so they picked one of them and decided to reveal themselves to him. Fate tried to warn them about the consequences of losing the game, but they didn’t listen.

I believe their exact words were: ’Oh please, what can a mere dragon with a broken heart do?’ and ’You are too drawn to the fate of mortals that you see them to be superior to us cosmic beings’." Fate chuckled, and the frown on the faces of the two ladies deepened.

"Later, they came running to Fate with tears in their eyes. When asked, he found out the mortal they looked down on was a dragon among mortals.

They lost miserably, and with their loss, the dragon was made aware of the hidden mysteries of the cosmos. And with this discovery, the threat to the sacred universe ignited.

In a way, their harmless and reckless game had bound the fate of the universe to a single man who wanted only one thing... to kill all his foes. However, he ended up taking the burden of the universe, which in the end killed him." Fate paused and looked at the two ladies, amused, and continued.

"But what did these two ladies do? They went ahead and made him another offer, one that they had no idea came with even bigger stakes than the last time."

"You can stop, Fate. We get what you are trying to say."

"Oh, but you don’t. You see, when you troublemakers chose to reincarnate his shattered souls, you inadvertently sealed his fate to all major calamity events that followed.

In other words, when you two gave him thirteen chances at life, you accidentally injured his True Primordial Fate."

Hearing this, Lady Universe and the Enchantress turned pale. If others had made this statement, the two of them wouldn’t have minded, but when it came from Fate, they knew he was telling the truth.

"Relax, ladies," Fate said before taking a drag and spewing the smoke all over. "Luckily for you ladies, your big brother Fate saw this coming, so he made preparations to fix things."
