Chapter 1282: Night Crawlers
Chapter 1282: Night Crawlers
The Guardian Tower basically has only one thing: the Guardian Shop.
The idea is to ensure the worlds and people under Kent’s protection have all the tools they need to keep themselves safe in case they are not inside the tower, where no harm would come to them.
Kent can’t bring every planet he has under his protection into the tower. Some also want to remain on the outside since they like it there.
So if that was the case, there should be a way to keep them safe even when he is away. That is where the Guardian Tower comes in.
He left some guardians in Fedora, Sonox and Enzi’s home planet.
Since her parents chose to remain on their cute little planet, Kent made sure that even if ten planets attacked at the same time, not a single hair would fall from their heads.
He takes protecting his wives’ families very seriously.
Now, it was time to protect the city he grew up in during his life as Jaqen, the Faceless Assassin. Being there brought back some memories, so the least he could do was protect it for the foreseeable future.
The moment Kent arrived there, he gave an order to the Tower.
"Tower, give me all the purchase passes I have yet to claim after adding dozens of planets to the Guardian Tower."
Whenever he adds a planet to his Guardian Tower, he gets a single purchase pass. That purchase pass is like a 100% off coupon he can use to buy anything in the Guardian Shop.
Back when he was fortifying Enzi’s home planet, he had tower points, so he didn’t redeem those passes...
And what an adventure Kent has had in the past couple of months.
The implementations he put in place before ascending to the high world and the moves he made when he went back in time to the Pill Worlds had left him connected to close to a hundred planets.
That is a whole lot of purchase passes for him to redeem, especially now that he is rotting in debt.
So, having no shame, he plans to use some, if not all, to see what he can buy this time around. The first time he used the Guardian Shop, he purchased a knight and two shadow spiders.
The knight later became Veydris, one of the 14 Lost Knights. Afterwards, he bought 13 more, believing they would one day become the rest of the Lost Knights after he upgrades them. He had yet to handle that.
Later, he bought metal swordsmen and archers, which he used to fortify Fedora and Enzi’s homeworld. They were more than enough to deter any army.
Today, he is about to find out what has been unlocked and how effective they can be.
[The master has 98 purchase passes to claim. Does the master want to claim them now?]
"In due time. For now, pull up all the new toys available in the Guardian Shop."
A screen appeared before Kent, displaying stylish cards for all the items in the Guardian Shop. There are weapons, arrays, formations, guardians, and a whole lot that a guardian would need to protect his wards.
However, Kent came for only the guardians. They are the humanoid and bestial warriors that can engage in all forms of combat without having to hold their hands.
The best part is that the Tower will have control of them, so even if Kent is in the God Realm, if something were to happen in the High World, he would know.
"Filter out the other stuff and display only the guardians."
Tower listened to his command and did as she was told. This time, only six cards were displayed. The first one is, of course, the Metal Knight. It was the first item Kent ever purchased.
A Tier 13 (Spirit Ascension) metal knight doll is 100,000. Tier 14 (Spirit King) is 200,000, and it increases by a hundred thousand tower points.
However, the best part is that even if the guardian is Peak Heavenly Ascension, Kent could still use the pass.
The second is the Shadow Spiders.
These shadow spiders are used for both spying and assassination. When planted in the target’s shadow, it would be able to pick up on their conversations and even kill on command.
Kent gave most of these to the Foxkins in Fedora to use when necessary. He knew they would come in handy in covert operations.
The third and fourth are the Metal Swordsmen and Metal Archers. This was the main legion Kent left with the Fedorians and Enzi’s homeworld.
They are the same price as the knights.
However, aside from these four, there are now two more additions. One is a bestial guardian shaped like a werewolf, but far more terrifying.
Kent quickly checked the details.
[Metallic Werewolf]: Metallic Werewolf Doll designed to fight like a True Werewolf with no weakness or ever getting tired. During full moons, it can absorb lunar essence, allowing it to evolve following the same path as wolves and werewolves.
Kent smiled, feeling like he had just found the guardian for the planets under his protection.
Looking at their combat power from the short demonstration video the tower made for him, he knew that when one of these monstrosities is dropped into battle, blood would flow like a fountain.
Of course, a Tier 13 Metallic Werewolf Guardian is worth 200,000 tower points. However, since he wouldn’t be using tower points this time around, he had nothing to worry about.
But Kent didn’t immediately buy it. He first checked the last guardian. Ideally, after reading what that one is made of, he was inclined to go with that.
[Night Crawlers]: Designed like an assassin, let your Night Crawlers hide in the shadows and wait for the prey to show themselves. The longer they stay in the shadows, the stronger they become.
The nature of these guardians aligns perfectly with the theme of the city he wanted to protect. They are assassins, and Midnight City is a city of assassins, so they would blend in perfectly.
The best part is that this doll is designed to look human. Although its entire body is covered in black armour, its height and form are those of a human assassin, so they can even move around, and nobody would suspect a thing.
"I have made a decision, Tower, buy 40 Night Crawlers and 28 Werewolves. They will be more than enough to keep the city safe from any form of threat."
Kent didn’t want to spend all his purchase passes on this purchase. He had two deadly missions ahead of him, so he tried to keep his options open for anything.
The tower followed through, and in no time, 40 Night Crawlers and 28 Werewolves appeared, bringing a smile to Kent’s face.
"This will do for now. If I survive the Void Forest and return with more tower points, I will add some more to the fold. But for now, you 68 will stand guard over the city and make sure all threats are dealt with as quickly as possible."
They didn’t speak, but Kent knew his words entered their metallic minds. He later spent some time looking through the other items, but he found nothing he needed.
The city already has a formation, so he didn’t need to buy one. He will help Adin take control of the previous one.
After handling everything else, he left and went back to Planet Bayla. It was time to meet Adin and put his plans in motion.
