Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 1318: Nyssara Noctveil

Chapter 1318: Nyssara Noctveil

While the first floor was made of fire and heat, the second floor was surprisingly quiet and foggy.

The moment Kent arrived there through the portal, he felt like he had fallen into the domain of darkness.

There was mist everywhere, and the air was humid and dull.

Without the soul map, when Kent tried to sense around him, he found out that his divine sense was severely restricted. He could sense only the immediate 10 meters around, a far cry from the 10,000km he could even do without a soul map.

This was something he could not accept, so he activated the soul map.

However, to his shock, he could only sense a 5 km radius, something that shook him greatly. Looking at the nature of the place he had appeared in and the fact that his senses had been cut by that much showed he was in for a wild ride.

"This is clearly the domain of an assassin," Kent muttered, observing the space around him.

Of course, he didn’t need the Tower telling him this is the domain of an assassin. Everything could be seen from the various shadows, foggy mist, and the smoke rising everywhere.

Dude to this, his guard was up and ready for anything.

Suddenly, Kent slashed his sword back, meeting a dagger.

CLANG

Kent was pushed back, a vivid sigh that the attack wasn’t simple at all.

However, before he could discern the nature of the dagger that came at him, it vanished, and thousands of pointed ropes formed from solid shadows shot at him from all directions.

"The fuck."

Before Kent could even begin to defend, the dagger appeared again, catching him off guard.

’Fuck, I only saw that dagger come when it was within the 100-meter radius,’ Kent said inwardly, his expression turning ugly.

The fact that, despite being severely restricted, his soul map could still see a 5 km radius was a good thing in this situation.

However, as it turned out, the incoming dagger attacks were being missed even within a 5 km radius. Kent only sensed the attack coming when it was 100 meters away.

While to most that could be considered a wide enough radius, to someone like Kent, who was using 70,000 flame veins, the speed at which the attack was coming still caught him by surprise, says a lot.

The first attack was slower than the second. And now that he had pushed that attack back and started evading the ropes that seemed to have a life of their own, Kent knew that this battle would be fought with speed and extreme awareness.

Kent jumped over a rope only for three more to swerve overhead and stab at his chest. However, while he was restricted, his soul map still had the teleport function, so he used it and teleported away.

But just when he appeared 3 km away, the dagger came again.

This time, however, Kent was prepared.

"FREEZE."

He stomped on the ground, freezing it solid. This caused a powerful freezing shockwave to push outward, sending anything solid back, at least to some extent, or freezing them.

Of course, Kent’s main aim was to freeze the person behind the dagger.

However, to his shock, there was nobody there. In fact, while his intention was to reveal the shape of the person even if they were invisible, after the ice shockwave exploded out, only the daggers—which he was shocked to find were fashioned from shadows—remained frozen.

"Don’t tell me..."

Before Kent could end his words, three daggers appeared again, and this time with greater force and speed.

It turned out the person he was facing wasn’t attacking him directly. In fact, the person was merely using the shadows to forge the daggers and then attack with them through mind control.

Kent didnt know where the attacker was, and since his senses were restricted to only a 5 km radius, he was practically blind.

But even worse, while he wasn’t seeing the daggers coming from 5 km away, he couldn’t help wondering whether the person was within his coverage area.

For all he knew, the person may be standing 400 meters away, but their presence wasn’t registering in the soul map.

Kent frowned but kept dodging the daggers and the ropes coming at him while he slowly worked his way to figuring out who was behind it all.

Soon, 40 minutes passed, but aside from him fighting with a bunch of ropes and daggers that only seemed to grow faster and stronger by the second, he was making no progress in finding who was behind the attacks.

Kent came up with many ways to flush out the real attacker; however, even after implementing the strongest of them, which was to explode his ice within a 5 km radius or to unleash a bunch of soul spirits, he still couldn’t get the attacker.

This left him in a bind.

His only option was to use his sharp tongue to taunt them into revealing themselves. After evading a bunch of deadly shadow ropes and blocking three daggers that came in rapid succession, he finally made his move.

"I know you are an assassin who thrives in the darkness and shadows; however, I never pegged an immortal like you to be afraid of me to the point of even hiding in the shadows like a rat."

Kent made his first move, and after 2 minutes, he saw it wasn’t enough to flush out the attacker. This made him smile weakly.

"At least you are helping me shape my focus and reaction speed, so this is also good. It is like a training, only that at the end of the day, you are going to die by my hand."

Kent indeed was having a good training session. While he could use the [Jade Void Wings] to move much faster and deadlier, he realised reaction speed had nothing to do with actual agility.

To be able to sense a dagger at close range and still react to counter requires some higher form of awareness, one that he was slowly sharpening in this battle.

The attacker seemed to be fast. However, their speed seemed to stem from their elusiveness. That was helping them move at terrible speeds and attack much more strongly.

They are really good at hiding.

However, while Kent would love to keep playing this cat-and-mouse game, exactly one hour into the battle, he saw what the person was aiming at.

All of a sudden, the dagger attack increased greatly, their speed becoming much more explosive. This change, however, brought back a memory from the primordial era.

"During the Primordial Era, on one fateful afternoon, I happened to walk into a Void Temple to clear it like the hundreds I have cleared before. I, of course, knew killing Void Beasts was my passion, so I took the mission seriously.

On the first 4 floors, I met brutes who just couldn’t keep their lives for a minute. However, on the 5th floor, I met an elusive shadow who managed to last one hour and 4 minutes.

She was just like you. She was full of hope and dreams, until the one hour came. That was when I realised I was inside her domain all along."

Kent’s body surged with sword intent, and his sword bathed in sword aura... "It took me 4 minutes to develop a counter for her. When I did, she died in under a second"

Turning to a random direction, Kent unleashed a Void Cleave instantly, causing the entire domain to tremble.

A few seconds later, it crumbeld and his opponent was revealed.

Nyssara Noctveil, the second Temple Master of Shadows, was revealed, her gaze cold like ice.
