Chapter 1409: Progress

Several days passed, but there was no noticeable progress on either side.

Inside the legion tower, the five portals remained open, showing that the five True Immortals are still alive and taking their trials. This shows that every last one of them is still alive, which is a good thing in a way.

As for Elaine, she and her sisters are still inside her Life and Death Space. She had done all her preparations, but the summoning ritual is a bit complex, so she is working on some final touches.

And for Veera, she had started creating all five undead. The process is a bit demanding and dangerous if not done right, so she is making slow but steady progress.

The only person who had made some progress was Sylara, who had already drawn a Blood Tattoo below her left eye. It is called the Perception Blood Tattoo.

It amplifies her sight and reaction speed by 500 times.

Already, she is fast and very perceptive. However, after some battles she fought in the dungeons, she realized her perception and reaction speed were a bit lacking.

So, using half of the blood essence she got from the True Immortal, she drew the tattoo, and she is now working on the second.

She aims to redraw the Blood Tattoos she sacrificed during the battle with the Church of Destruction. Of course, there are many tattoos she can draw, but these ones are the most vital.

She is already under a heavy toll, so just these two would do for now.

But she wasn’t the only one who had made some progress in the past couple of days.

Inside the Alchemy Tower, Kent had been working diligently for days. The aim is to perform a perfect extraction of Tier 11 and 12 pill herbs.

He is required to concoct a Tier 10, 11, or 12 pill with an Azure Pill Ring. Naturally, that is just impossible. There is no way he can handle that with even a Tier 12 pill.

The essence he would require to refine such a Pill Ring can only be produced from Tier 13 pill herbs. So he was basically being asked to do something that had never been done before.

Even Pill Celestial Kevin Sage said it is impossible.

However, to become a Pill Monarch, he must reach that milestone and even exceed it. After all, he is now on the path of becoming the youngest person to ever become a Pill Monarch.

The requirement is harsh, but Kent is determined. So, over the past couple of days, he started the extraction process with Tier 1 pill herbs and quickly worked his way up.

On the first day alone, he had worked on performing a perfect extraction from Tier 1 pill herbs to Tier 8. His progress was rather fast for someone at his level.

Of course, he is a Pill Emperor, but that isn’t enough to make someone like him make such progress. He practically went overboard and did what had never been done before.

But he didn’t stop there. He went ahead and spent half a day completing Tier 9 and 1.5 days completing Tier 10.

However, when he reached Tier 11, he started hitting roadblocks. The process was a bit challenging. His first extraction took four good hours, but he came out with 20% impurities.

That was far from the impurity-free extraction he had hoped to achieve. Having 20% impurities isn’t something he found normal. But that didn’t kill his alchemical spirit. If anything, he saw it as a challenge that must be overcome.

So he went ahead and tried a second extraction. This time, after 4 hours, he managed to reduce the impurity level to 10%. That was a huge leap from the previous 20%.

However, that was also far from what he wanted, so with a dozen portions of ingredients at his disposal, he went in deep, and after four more trials, he managed to come out with only 5% impurities.

But that was when he finally hit a roadblock that he just could not see a way around. It was like he had finally met his first obstacle in that path of alchemy that the knowledge he had acquired from Pill Celestial Kevin Sage could not fix it.

That was a challenge he had to find his own creative way to fix. Kent took the challenge like his life depended on it, and over the past few days, he had been working to find a way to handle the last 5%.

He knew if he managed to figure out a way to do that, there was a good chance he would not struggle with Tier 12 pill herbs.

And also, as long as he manages to accomplish what comes next, then when it comes to making Tier 12 pills, he would have no issues. Making pills depended entirely on extracting the medicinal essence from the herb and burning off impurities.

Condensing and refining are also important, but without the first two steps, he wouldn’t have anything to apply the last two steps to before even thinking of refining pill rings.

So he poured his all into it, and as he worked diligently to find a solution, he slowly began to gain an even deeper understanding of alchemy.

It was now that he realised he had been relying solely on the knowledge from Pill Celestial Kevin Sage. He had to apply his own knowledge. He had to build his own understanding.

Thankfully, he was among the geniuses with a high IQ back on Earth. And now that he had used cultivation to evolve himself to the point he would be called a god if he were still on Earth, his mind had become even more powerful.

So, making sense of what he knew and what he had to do was coming along much faster than he would like to admit.

Although it was taking him days and several thousand tower points, he was making steady progress, and that alone went a long way to show he is much more committed and greatly knowledgeable when it comes to alchemy.

It took him several days to come up with a formula. He didn’t create a new technique, though; he merely cloned over a dozen techniques and merged them into a new one.

It is a bit complex, but he knew once he used it, he would be able to bridge the final gap he was missing. The next thing, however, was making sure he had covered all grounds before he dared apply this new technique.

A slight mistake, and he would be ruining not only his herbs but also his cauldron.

After that was checked and handled, he decided to take a day off to calm his mind and see if he had made any mistakes.

He spent the day inside the Alchemy Tower, moving from one location to the next. He also used the time to read the manual he received a few years ago about Pill Celestial Kevin Sage.

It talked about how he started walking the path of alchemy. It was rather a funny story, one that he had no idea would lead him to become a Pill Celestial one day.

After he had relaxed enough, he went back to extracting Tier 11 pill herbs once more, this time using a technique that had never been used before.

As to whether he would succeed, it would depend on how much knowledge he had put into developing the technique.
