Chapter 1420: The Ninth Floor - The Damned Prison (3)
Chapter 1420: The Ninth Floor - The Damned Prison (3)
[Kent’s POV]
Kent stood on a mountain of bodies that he had built from the complete massacre he had committed inside the forest he appeared in.
He was unfortunate or, in this context, fortunate to appear in such a place. He had the perfect welcome, which he took advantage of in its entirety.
When the creatures attacked, he responded like a warrior.
It was a good warm-up after spending weeks concocting pills. In all, it took him about 45 minutes to slaughter every last one of them.
Of course, some ran off when they saw their opponent was abnormally strong. However, after the massacre, Kent was elated when he saw the mission description appear.
Even better, he received a special mission.
However, when he saw the rank of his opponent, he became stunned. While he managed to read between the lines and realize why this mission was given as their task to clear the 9th floor, he wasn’t prepared to face an Immortal Emperor, not when he had yet to form his sword realm.
The mission was given to them because the seven calamity beasts aren’t fully awakened yet. In fact, the first six are all normal beasts, so the danger they were meant to have isn’t there.
If the planet evolves and they are still alive, they would awaken their true selves. Once that happens, they will be able to open the Calamity Gate, allowing their kin to invade this universe again.
So they all must die.
However, Kent had no plans to fight a Peak Immortal Emperor when he decided to join this mission.
While his opponent was no Spatial Beast like the ones that he would soon be facing once Gaia is done with the portal, this one is a partially awakened calamity beast.
This means it is a danger to him, and Kent knew it deep down.
[Mission Name: Noctyrr, The World Shackle]
[Rank: Immortal Emperor Peak]
[Location: 400,000 km due south]
[Description: The only Calamity to have partially awakened his true nature. Be careful when facing him in combat; his curses aren’t something to joke around with.]
Compared to spatial beasts, these ones are children.
But Kent is also a child. He may have combat power comparable to a True Immortal. However, that doesn’t mean he can battle just anyone above the True Immortal stage.
Even he has his limits.
"I guess now might just be the best time to test how fast I can fly using the Jade Void Wings." He smiled and started moving toward the direction of his target using the soul map.
With the distance he can move using the soul map, he quickly closes in on the 400,000km distance.
It took him just 5 teleportations to sense his opponent. He came to a stop to have a better look at who he would be fighting.
"Looks like you have been waiting for me," Kent said, stopping before a vast field filled with dried grasses. 400 meters away stood a 3-meter-tall humanoid. He was clad in leather armor lined with chains, which hung loosely at his side.
He held a spear in his right hand while a circular disc hovered in his left hand.
"I saw you slaughter all the beasts in the Evermore Forest, so I got curious. Who would have thought you would be coming to me of your own accord?" His tone was human and a bit deep; however, it was within human standards.
"So were you initially planning on coming after me?" Kent asked.
"You are here now, so that isn’t important."
"I see. In any case, I didn’t come of my own accord. I came because I was asked to kill you. So in order to make things simple and easy for both of us, why don’t you drop dead where you stand?" A teasing smile appeared on Kent’s face.
He could tell he was about to face the biggest obstacle he had faced so far in his journey as a warrior. Why that is a bit scary, he wasn’t even a bit scared. If anything, he was more pumped for the battle ahead of him.
"Can I call you Noctyrr?" Kent asked again; however, the response was a sudden stab toward his chest.
The speed at which the attack came was so fast that just when he saw it, its deadly blades were only an inch away from his skin.
Kent summoned the scale shield, merging it with his skin.
CLANG
The spear bounced off his chest, sending him flying back. While his scales saved him from being impaled through the chest, the force contained within the spear was too powerful, and he was sent flying back like a rag doll.
"Oh shit."
While in motion, Noctyrr moved and appeared behind him, attacking again. Kent used the same method to block the second attack, too.
However, he clearly didn’t account for the force Noctyrr used in his second attack. He was already in motion, meaning the initial force was still acting on his body.
So the moment a second force acted against him, per the law of motion, there would be a collision of forces. This collision sandwiched Kent. Both forces crashed into his body, causing him to cough up a few mouthfuls of blood.
Some bones cracked, and some rattled.
"Fuck...this bastard is Newton’s reincarnation."
Seeing and feeling how brilliantly Noctyrr used his mind to overwhelm him with his two attacks, Kent changed his initial assessment of his opponent.
"Time to make a run for it."
BUZZ
His Jade Void Wings appeared, and with a buzzing sound, he moved, and Noctyrr took after him.
He threw the circular disc he held in his left hand into the air, transforming it into ten colossal razor-sharp discs, each deadly to even look at.
They moved ahead of him, chasing after Kent, who had activated all 120,000 flame veins. His speed was just too great that in a span of five seconds, he had moved over 100,000 km.
There is just no way he can face him in close combat. The bastard is superfast, and with how brilliantly he had executed his opening moves, Kent knew he had to kill him while on the move.
The ten colossal razor-sharp discs sliced through the air with terrifying precision, trailing faint arcs of dark energy as they pursued Kent.
Each one spun faster than the eye could follow, their edges glinting with deadly intent. Kent was moving rather fast, but the more distance he put between them, the closer the Razor Discs came in on him.
"I am going to enjoy having this treasure after I kill you," Kent said out loud, the wind carrying his words into Noctyrr’s ear.
This caused him to move even faster. However, Kent kept putting distance between them. The [Void Drive] technique was keeping him afloat, so for now, he was out of arm’s reach.
But how long could he keep away from the deadly discs or Noctyrr?
The answer came much faster than he would have loved.
Kent suddenly twisted sharply left, then right, then dove low enough that the dried grasses below whipped against his boots.
Just then, the first disc came close to him and attacked. However, it missed by centimeters, carving a trench fifty meters long into the earth before curving back toward him.
Kent used the soul map to move, evading the attack completely.
The second and third came in right after the first, one high, one low.
Kent rolled sideways in midair, the high disc shearing off several strands of his hair while the low one grazed his calf, drawing a thin line of blood that immediately healed thanks to how monstrous his healing had become recently.
"Oh Damn...I am fucked"
