Chapter 1421: The Ninth Floor - The Damned Prison (4)
Kent glanced back, hoping to find something useful that he could use against the bastard.
However, all he saw was Noctyrr, still pursuing, spear held casually at his side, expression calm as if this were a leisurely jog rather than a life-or-death chase at supersonic speeds.
He wasn’t taking the battle as seriously as Kent was. That, in a way, was a clear indication that he saw Kent as no threat.
Considering he is a peak Immortal Emperor, he has the right to appear nonchalant. He is several realms above his opponent after all.
Kent’s mind raced, running multiple calculations to determine the best course of action. He can’t just take any path without weighing all options.
In the end, he realised that running forever wasn’t an option.
The discs were gaining on him with every curve he made, and Noctyrr himself seemed to be closing the distance without visible effort.
Whatever technique the calamity beast was using to move, it ignored conventional physics. It was as if whenever he curved to the side, Noctyrr got a boost that pulled him closer.
And if he ignored the discs by choosing to keep moving forward in a straight line, losing his limbs and even getting cut in half wouldn’t be far from happening.
’Time to change the game.’
Kent abruptly killed his forward momentum, causing shockwaves to ripple outward. He spun 180 degrees in place, facing his opponent head-on.
The ten discs hurtled toward him like a swarm of guillotines.
Kent opened his palm, causing bone-chilling ice to pour out. He used his finger to draw three runes in the air, then with a sudden clap, the entire surrounding area became frozen.
Every dried grass froze, and then, with a wave, pillars of ice started rising from the ground. The discs suddenly had to curve around the pillars, slowing them down a bit.
It was as if the moment the pillars rose up, Noctyrr’s control over the discs started to wane. However, even if that was the case, the mere fact that they kept moving told him all he had to know.
’He is overexerting his mind to control the discs. This means I have to keep his mind engaged long enough to find the perfect opening.’
With this thought in mind, Kent did the only logical thing he could think of.
He first activated his sword intent, filling the air with its sharpness. Then he retracted his Blood Aura and activated the blood sword aura instead. In an instant, he went from a bloodthirsty maniac to a bloodthirsty swordsman.
The sharpness in the air made it so that movement by his opponent would be restricted to a certain degree.
He decided to fight like a swordsman instead of a Slaughter King.
"Sword Clones,"
In an instant, 9 more copies appeared and made a run for it. Just like that, ten copies of Kent filled the 80,000 km radius, each clad in the same armor and wielding the same sword.
Noctyrr’s eyes narrowed. He tried scanning the ten copies to find the real Kent, but he came up empty.
’How is that possible? They are all the same person.’
His mind started to spin like a turbine, unsure of how to even make sense of what was happening.
Every last version of Kent had the same energy signature, something that shouldn’t have been possible considering clones and the main body should have a different aura.
However, since Kent was only using his sword intent and sword aura, all he could sense was those energies.
That just made no sense, however, as he continued to attack Kent with his discs while he used his numbers to his advantage, Noctyrr started to sense his mind grow more engaged.
That was bad for him but good for Kent.
Kent’s plan was to overwhelm Noctyrr’s mind by using his ten bodies to his advantage. The more divided Noctyrr’s attention becomes, the better for him.
Slowly, he started to see the effect of his attacks. This gave him the confidence to move much closer, closing the gap between them.
If he could get within 10 km of him, there was a good chance he would be able to turn things around.
BUZZ
His Jade Void Wings buzzed as he made a sudden 180-degree turn, evading a disc only for a second one to come. He quickly used the swap function of his sword clone technique to evade.
He swapped with a clone opposite his location. But just when he moved closer to Noctyrr, hoping to activate the [Void Cleave], the air turned quiet.
At once, all sound was sucked out of the air, replaced by an unsettling feeling.
Kent, who was getting ready to retaliate, activated his Blood Seals just in time when a rather heavy feeling fell on him.
All the sword clones he had activated were blasted to smoke along with the ice domain he had created. In an instant, he went from gaining some advantage to being sent crashing to the ground.
The crash created a small crater in the ground, showing he was undead a heavy load.
However, before he could lift himself up, a spear appeared from the ground, stabbing through his side. His [Chaos Scale Shield] saved him, but the force behind the spear cracked a few ribs.
"Oh shit.."
Kent jumped back, attempting to evade the second spear, only to be surrounded by over three dozen spears.
"This Motherfucker can also use the metal element?" The realization left Kent unsure of what to even think. So far, he had noticed three things about his opponent that just didn’t make sense.
First was the cuts he had sustained. They healed, but the pain that came with it seemed to only grow as time passed. It was as if the longer Noctyrr remained breathing, the more severe the pain.
But that wasn’t all, as the pain intensified, his stamina seemed to start to deplete.
That made no sense. Kent has a monstrous healing and regenerative ability, so even if the pain intensifies, that shouldn’t affect his stamina.
But considering the description of the mission said Noctyrr’s curses are dangerous, Kent was inclined to believe he had been cursed, and that was why his stamina was depleting.
The second thing he noticed that he believed would make it impossible to kill Noctyrr without external help was his Immortal Qi. So far, he had not revealed how many he had.
Vexthra had already warned him that when facing an Immortal above the True Immortal stage, he must look out for how much Immortal Qi they have. If it was more than two, he must do one thing: run.
Kent wasn’t one to run. His opponent was dangerous, but so is he. He is a mortal with the power of a True Immortal. That is all the confidence he needs.
However, as time passed, he started to see why he might just die if he were to go beyond an hour with this bastard.
If in the next 30 seconds he couldn’t turn things around, he might as well make a run for it as Vexthra advised.
But as if that wasn’t enough, the bastard had just revealed his third ability, and that was Metal Affinity.
In his memories of Jest, he had also learned the metal element, which played a pivotal role in forming his Genesis Sword Realm.
Because of that memory, he knew all too well just how dangerous the metal element really is. So, looking at the dozens of spears aimed at him, his heart skipped a beat.
They surrounded him on all sides. He thought about teleporting away, but he found out an invisible domain had been activated.
This made him stop because if he were to try, the chance of him finding himself in even more danger is just too much.
Kent closed his Jade Void Wings, creating a small force field around himself.
It was one of the many abilities of the Jade Void Wings.
However, considering he was facing an Immortal Emperor with mastery of the metal element, he knew just the force field wouldn’t be enough, so he went a step further and activated 40,000 blood runes and used them to reinforce the force field.
His body was still coated with the scale shield.
The spears moved, and as he expected, when they met the force field, they came to a halt. This made him sigh in relief.
But he knew something had to change because just when he sighed in relief, 4 immortal Qis flared around Noctyrr.
