Chapter 1428: Calix’s Upgrades

When Kent entered the Soul Universe, he moved toward the location where Calix had entered seclusion. He wanted to see what he had become after reaching the Root Immortal Stage.

When he first created him, he found out that a Soul Warrior is more than a tool for battle. They are real living beings that can make their own decision and handle their own evolution.

Calix came out as a [Soul Reaper].

This made him someone whose main strength lies in soul battles. But that wasn’t all; his job class came with one innate ability called [Bind].

This ability allows him to draw strength from Kent’s Soul Universe. This meant that, just as Kent draws strength from his Blood Sea, Calix draws his energy from his Soul Universe.

In return, he produces something called [Soul Crystals], which, so far, Kent knew could be used to strengthen his soul.

When he created Calix, his soul cultivation went from Tier 16 to Tier 19. That was quite a leap from merely creating one Soul Warrior.

However, now, even without reviewing his profile, Kent could sense his soul had become even more powerful. He cannot move past Tier 19, but that doesn’t mean his soul can strengthen and expand.

Even better, the Soul Universe seemed to have become even bigger and stronger. He knew that the [Soul Crystals] were the reason for the change.

Away from that, he also came with three affinities: [Soul Affinity], [Shadow Affinity], and [Fire Affinity].

These affinities gave him so much power that Kent couldn’t even bring himself to form an understanding of them.

They have so much potential that if Calix uses them well, he will become unstoppable.

Then, finally, he also came with four Aspects. The first is the [Battle Master]. This aspect allows him to adapt quickly in battle and learn from his opponent, using their battle style to refine his own.

The longer he remains in battle, the stronger and more experienced he becomes, making him someone who grows during battle. On top of that, whatever changes he goes through remain with him forever.

So after every battle, he will gain something, unless, of course, his opponent chooses to fight in long-range style. If that were to happen, then he wouldn’t gain anything.

However, as long as they engage in close combat, even if for a minute, he would gain something.

The second is the [Soul Master] aspect.

Kent had yet to determine the extent to which this aspect goes. However, from what he learned the last time he checked it, the [Soul Master] aspect allows Calix to engage in all kinds of soul combat.

This meant that, be it soul manipulation, transformation, augmentation, and whatnot, Calix can do it. And even better, with the [Battle Master] aspect, he can easily incorporate soul attacks into it, giving him a new direction to take his soul attacks.

Basically, with this aspect, he can be likened to being on the same level as the Soul Sentinel.

The third aspect is the [Shadow Master], which allows him to manipulate the shadows as if they were an extension of his body. He can do as he pleases with the shadows in ways most assassins couldn’t.

This aspect is perfect for when he wants to fight on the physical plane. His strength is in soul battles, but with the [Shadow Master] aspect, he can easily fight anyone by messing with their shadows.

As for the last aspect, it allows him to forge any weapon he wants using soul spirits. The [Forge Master] aspect made him the perfect blacksmith. Kent contracted him to make some weapons for him.

Now, as he drew closer to his cultivation ground, he could hear metal striking metal coming from a room he had built. It wasn’t there the last time he was there.

"Calix, buddy, do you have a minute?" Kent asked when he appeared within talking range of the building. The metallic sound stopped, and from the entrance, Calix walked out, wiping sweat off his brow.

"Looks like you’ve been busy,"

"Indeed. Since you said we will be embarking on a mission soon, I wanted to have some weapons ready before the day comes."

"That is good thinking, Calix. We will indeed need all the weapons we can get." Kent was impressed by Calix’s insight. The mere fact that he had started planning in advance shows initiative.

"By the way, how do you feel after the breakthrough to the Root Immortal Stage?" Kent asked, since it was the main reason why he came.

He had just ended a battle where he slaughtered quite a lot of immortals, so he wanted to see where Calix needed improvements so he could help.

"I have become much stronger now. My three elemental affinities have entered the Absolute Stage, giving me even better control over them.

As for the [Bind] Innate Ability, it remains the same, but I found out that the Soul Crystals can be used to expand the Soul Universe and even create celestial bodies like the moon, stars, and others.

I don’t know much about how that would aid you, but I was able to forge a house from just one Soul Crystal.

Aside from that, my four Innate Aspects have also upgraded to the Grandmaster Stage. Right now, aside from merely adapting to the battle style of my opponents, I can copy their battle style after engaging in battle with them for at least 15 minutes.

The Soul and Shadow Aspects have also become stronger. I can now do more than I could when they were at the Master Stage.

And for the [Forge Grandmaster] Aspect, the upgrade made it so I can do more than forge weapons. Now, I can forge soul weapons that would directly link to the Soul Universe, so just like how I grow stronger by just being here, all weapons I create will be the same.

And most importantly, the new Innate Ability I have awakened allows me to inscribe special runes into the weapons, giving them an innate talent aspect called [Sentient]."

"Damn. That is a lot to take in." Kent took a deep breath, his mind digesting the content of what he had just heard from Calix.

He expected an upgrade, but this was more than he had hoped for.

From the Innate Abilities to the Aspects, everything had become monstrous. And as if that wasn’t enough, he had awakened another Innate Ability.

"What is the new Innate Ability you have awakened?"

"It is called [Soul Inscribe]. It was meant to be used as a supplement to my Soul Grandmaster Aspect to boost my soul attacks when fighting in the Soul Plane. However, it can be used to inscribe Sentient runes into weapons, giving them the ability to grow and have intelligence."

"Have you tried it?" Kent asked.

"Yes." Calix turned and looked at the house. "The entire house is actually my armor linked with a special domain where I can live. When I inscribed the rune, it awakened its sentience, which, after a few days of training, was able to transform into a house."

"Oh, that is something." Kent smiled. So far, he was convinced that Calix had become just the kind of warrior he needed on his side right about now.

Even if he is useless in combat, with what he can do as a [Forge Grandmaster], there is no way he would ever become useless to him.

There will be so much use for him in the future, and now that Kent knows what he is capable of, there is no telling what kind of crazy weapons they will be working on together soon.

"Take advantage of the immortal soul spirits to create powerful weapons. I will have my assistants draft a few weapon schematics for you to forge them."

"Okay, master."

Kent soon left Calix’s dwelling and headed to the second Soul Warrior he had created.
