Chapter 1541: A Cursed Weapon
Chapter 1541: A Cursed Weapon
[Ancient Lore]
Legend has it that during the Flame Era, when the first batch of Flame Beasts invaded the Infinity universe, the warriors from every walk of life came together and fought a great battle.
In the end, they won.
Well, they won the first battle.
However, they soon realized something chilling.
When the second batch arrived, legendary warriors who stood in the vanguard realized their weapons had become useless against some of the Flame Beasts. No matter how deadly the attack was, as long as it came from some weapons, it dealt no damage whatsoever to the enemy.
It quickly became obvious why.
It turned out that when the second batch came, a special kind of flame beasts that specialized in soul attacks found a way to attack soul weapons, rendering them useless against their people.
Back then, soul weapons were the norm since they grew with the wielder. Every Blacksmith aspired to create all kinds of soul weapons and artifacts.
So the moment a soul weapon loses its soul, it becomes useless. This led to the slaughter of millions of warriors, bringing great loss to the universe.
After they finally managed to repel the second batch of the invading forces, the leaders of the universe started looking for solutions.
It was said that a Celestial Weapon without a soul mark cannot be compared to a God Weapon with a soul mark.
So, while there were powerful weapons like the Ten Divine Zodiac Spears and the like, weapons that could deal significant damage to this soul-type Flame Beast were needed.
If they can kill the soul flame beasts, then all other weapons will become useful again.
So blacksmiths and forgemasters were summoned from all over the universe to a summit that lasted 100 days.
During that time, powerful blacksmiths and forgemasters brought all kinds of solutions to the problem, but in the end, all were proven inadequate—that was until the Nine Underworld Flame Blacksmith arrived.
He came late, and as usual, he had a crazy idea that actually worked. He was known as the Mad Forger because every idea he brought sounded so crazy.
The legend says that this time, his proposal was very simple. Since the most powerful and corrupted part of the soul is resentment, he proposed crafting weapons with resentful souls as the weapon spirit.
His proposal was shut down, and he was mocked and called many names by his peers. However, by the middle of the third invasion, they were begging him to craft those weapons.
So he did.
He crafted 100 weapons, and he named them the 100 Cursed Weapons. Each weapon contained the soul of an unwilling, vile, and evil being.

Kent felt it deep within him that using his blood to try to see what the weapon was sounded like a bad idea. However, he wanted to find out anyway. In a way, he was too crazy to the point that he ignored all red flags.
He wants to find out more.
If not for himself, then he wanted his sword (Gaap) to be able to make use of the resentful qi in the sword. So he shut down all warnings and chose to use his blood.
He regretted that decision the moment his blood landed on the hilt of the sword.
Just when it did, a very terrifying aura, one that would put even a Celestial to their knees, gushed out and grabbed Kent by the throat.
At once, he turned pale, and his body started to age. Blood drained from his body, his hair even turning pure white.
"Kekekekekekekeke... finally, I am free."
A bone-chilling laughter came from the sword, filling the entire Sword Tower with a great terror.
Gaap, who stood beside Kent just a moment ago, was reduced to a broken doll, his entire body crushed, transforming into his sword form.
Even in that form, the jagged blade had cracks all over it and was slowly expanding. Kent was also aging, his body turning paler by the second.
The air grew thick with resentment.
The sky even started to turn dark, lightning churning deep in the clouds. With each passing second, the air grew deadlier until, eventually, everything reeked of resentment.
"Finally, I will be able to roam this universe and exact my revenge on the punk." A misty smoke came from the sword and formed into a wraith-like man whose hair draped down his back, entangled with the same carved woods and series of ropes.
His expression was cold, and most importantly, his triangular-shaped eyes made him look both ugly and terrifying.
He looked at Kent for a moment, his ugly smile widening into a grin. "I don’t know who you are, boy, but thanks to your blood, I will get to live a full life this time.
Your body will be my new vessel, and your face will be my face that I will use to instill fear in the entire universe once again, like in the past, when my name alone was all it took to strike terror into the hearts of even Celestial beings.
Before that bastard captured me and turned me into a weapon spirit, I was a terror of existence. Now, thanks to you, I will be that again."
He laughed, "In your face Nine Underword Flame Bastard. I will find you and smash your face in you crazy bastard."
Kent had become even more frail and thin. However, his gaze remained calm, almost as if he wasn’t afraid of the terrifying, resentful soul holding him by the neck.
Sitting somewhere in Gaiaville, Baldy sighed and set down the cup containing the fruit juice that Elaine’s mother had given him. Then, with a single step, he vanished and appeared inside the Sword Tower.
The moment he appeared, the resentful soul noticed him and turned to look at him.
When its gaze landed on Baldy, it took several steps back, fear appearing on its ugly face.
"W-What are you?" It tried to push away the fear by asking a question. However, Baldy didn’t entertain him. He raised his right index finger and pressed down.
"Be suppressed."
The resentful soul crashed down, letting go of Kent. Once he was free, color started returning to his face, his hair turning back to its beautiful purple form. However, he gasped a few times for breath, his frail look recovering at an astonishing speed.
Baldy walked forward and stopped just before the broken sword.
With a gesture, the two broken pieces moved and connected. Then he pointed his other finger, and lightning formed, soldering the two broken pieces together again.
In no time, the sword was mended, becoming whole again.
Then, with another gesture, the suppressed, resentful soul moved and entered the sword, its screams filling the Sword Tower. In what appeared to be less than a minute, Baldy resolved the near-death situation that Kent and Gaap had found themselves in.
Kent remained on his knees, gasping for breath. Baldy ignored him and moved toward Gaap. Then, just like he did with the broken sword, he pointed his finger, and lightning formed at its tip and then shot at the sword.
Soon, the cracks that had formed on it healed, and Gaap transformed back into his demon form.
"Thank you, Senior," he thanked Baldy, who nodded at him before turning toward Kent. He knelt down and looked at his face for a few seconds before he smiled.
"You lied to me, big brother. You said I should wait for you, that you would come for me, but you never did." A pained look appeared on his face. "I was alone for billions of years. I felt so lonely and bored."
Kent, who had regained some of his strength, lifted his head and looked at the bald kid staring at him. His hand moved and brushed his bald head for a moment. "Sorry, Baldy. I did everything I could to get back to your side, but the bad guys turned out to be super powerful.
"But I am back now, so that should count for something."
Baldy looked at him for a few more seconds before he smiled. "I guess that is okay. But you will buy me alot of candy as compensation if you want me to help your sword become powerful."
"Oh," Kent furrowed his brow.
