Chapter 1540: The Complex Map
Chapter 1540: The Complex Map
"I suppose that is one more trump card down for my journey through the Star Gateway," Kent smiled, gazing at the golden spear hovering before him.
Now that he had bonded with it, he could tell it was indeed a very powerful spear.
While his soul flame is not a Zodiac Flame, he could still feel some connection to it and knew that if he were to channel his own flame essence into it, then he would find a good medium to unleash all kinds of attacks.
Even better, he can tell his nirvana flames will come in handy now that he has a weapon forged from a sacred flame.
Right now, his flame element has only two techniques linked to it: the [Finger of Destruction] and [Divine Flame Armament].
While both are deadly techniques, he can use them only a few times before his two flame cores are drained. In fact, he can’t use them effectively in close combat, so he needed a way to use his flame for more controlled attacks.
The spear will do. He can unleash more managed attacks using both the Nirvana Flame and his soul flame.
"This also means I should take spear lessons from Neomi or Camilla."
He is a good swordsman, so maybe wielding the spear will be easy for him. Even so, having the chance to spend some quality time with his two wives won’t be too bad.
He grabbed the spear and examined it a few times before putting it away. It appeared inside his soul sea and hovered just before the first flame core.
Kent reached into the tower storage and pulled out the [Spirit Brush].
Looking at the knife-like item in his hand, a pale smile formed on his face. "Though not a soul item, it will make things much easier for me when painting."
He channeled his soul energy into it, and at once it transformed into a sleek-looking paintbrush. Kent, who had used many spirit brushes in the past, smiled and tapped into that knowledge.
He activated the brush’s many forms, causing it to change from one design to another for a couple of seconds before returning to its knife form.
"Since I will be facing immortal-level threats on my way to Elina’s galaxy, I must also have immortal-level paintings on my side," he smiled and tapped into the memories of Jest.
Having lived a full life in that incarnation, he had seen and experienced a great deal. This meant he had more to paint and fewer forbidden words to inscribe.
While most would be dangerous to paint, if he managed to get a few done, then his journey would be a lot less harrowing.
After examining the spirit brush for a few more seconds, he exhaled and put it away. Then he retrieved the map he had purchased at the auction.
It was worn out, with holes riddling some portions of it. However, the diagram on it is very valuable, so valuable that even gods will kill to learn it. Unfortunately for them, they had no way to decipher it, so it is now Kent’s turn to try his hand at it.
"Tower, extract and project the diagram in a digital form."
The map flew from his hand and hovered for a few seconds before the complex diagram on it rose and expanded, taking up the three-foot space before him.
Kent stood up and calmly examined it. Deep in his subconscious, a nerd slowly started to awaken the longer he studied the diagram.
"Hmm, this seems like those complex encryptions I learned during my master’s degree back on Earth," Kent smirked and continued to look.
The diagram contained a single node that held the Hexa-Spiral 360 Paradox Grid. However, the person who drew the map seemed too smart—and a bit wicked—to have encrypted the main enigma behind another complex pattern schema called the Voidscript 888 Recursive Pattern.
Right now, Kent would have to isolate all useless patterns from the main diagram and then decipher the main node using the Voidscript 888 Recursive Pattern before he would be able to see the patterns that he had to decrypt to find the locations of the treasures left behind by that legendary blacksmith.
For now, however, he allowed himself to be immersed in the thrill of the complex computations he would be diving into.
An hour later, he seemed to have grasped the core concept of the diagram.
His hands moved, and patterns flew out of the main diagram. Soon, only a triangular shape was left. Kent looked at it for a few more seconds and then smiled.
"Oh, the brain behind this map is plenty smart, all right." He saw that to handle this triangle, he must immerse himself in learning more about the Voidscript 888 Recursive Pattern.
He is smart, but he seems to still be lacking. Perhaps his lack had to do with still not having his memories of Kevin Sage back.
"Tower, buy all books and manuscripts on all kinds of ancient cryptographic algorithms out there. I want everything from the dawn of time to this very moment." A pale smile appeared on his face. "I guess it is time to hit the books again."
[I will do as the master says. But I first have to let Gaia build a sizable library to store everything.]
Kent laughed.
Perhaps if he were to recover his memories of Kevin Sage, solving the pattern would be simple. However, since he had yet to have that knowledge, acquiring it on his own for now seemed like a good thing.
"I might end up not needing it in the end, but for now, having a library would add to the beauty of the place."
He let the Tower save the extracted triangular pattern. For now, he would end things there and continue later.
The last thing he wanted was to become absorbed in this and neglect his preparation for the mission coming up in a few months.
After stowing everything away, his focus turned to the last item he had bought at the auction house. The moment the broken sword appeared, Gaap emerged from his soul sea as well.
Aside from him sensing the resentful qi coming from the sword when he saw it, Gaap was also attracted to it, and so he went ahead and lied through his teeth, claiming he planned on buying it as an antique when, in fact, he knew the broken sword was something extremely powerful.
"I don’t suppose you have any idea what this sword was before it broke?" Kent asked, but Gaap shook his head. He moved closer to get a better look at it.
"I can clearly sense a very potent resentment coming from within; however, I can’t figure out how to access it." Gaap narrowed his eyes at the broken sword, his gaze drifting along the wooden hilt, paying close attention to the markings on it.
"Same here."
At the auction, they claimed there is a supreme-grade technique for cultivating sword aura hidden inside this sword. However, Kent knew they were lying. But despite calling their bluff, he also could not make sense of what was rooted deep inside the sword.
Maybe if he were the only one who sensed it, he would have doubted himself. However, he, the Tower, and Gaap all sensed it, and so he knew the sword was a treasure.
But even after four hours of examining and trying all kinds of harmless experiments, nothing happened. In the end, it came down to one final method.
"I suppose feeding it my blood would be the last thing to try. Already, I couldn’t send my consciousness inside, and neither could you, so let me try that."
Gaap looked at Kent for a few seconds before nodding.
"Be careful, though. While we have no idea what this sword is, the fact that it could scare someone like me shows it is a terrifying weapon."
Kent nodded, and then, after a sigh, he cut his palm and let his blood drip onto the hilt of the broken sword.
