There is one thing to become aware that the Universe Council was behind the downfall of his family, and another to actually do something about it.

That was where the Ruthless Bandit had found himself. He had never expected that after learning the Universe Council had a hand in his family’s downfall, he wouldn’t have the means to do something about it.

He was merely an Immortal King, so naturally, he wasn’t at the point where going against demigods, gods, Supremes, and Celestials would be within his strength level.

So he had to pause and first raise his strength.

Because of the kind of reputation he held, he was feared by many. Already, he was being hunted, and so, using the thrill of the kills, he started training even more.

The motivation to kill had pushed him to train more. A few years after he killed his master, he stepped into the rank of an Immortal Emperor.

This greatly increased his strength, but it wasn’t enough for him to be arrogant. Naturally, he never tried to be that; instead, he paid more attention to his power.

He could tell that while he indeed allowed his anger to define him, there was something else at play. The power within him wasn’t something he could explain.

It took him 10 years to make sense of what had caused all this. When he did, instead of fearing for his life, he confronted it, and after a long struggle, he took control of his heart demon, enslaving it.

However, by doing so, he also cut off every goodness in his heart. His emotions were severed, and since then, an emotionless demon was born, one that doesn’t care what he has to do if it means he gets to have his revenge on the people who dared to kill his family.

Surprisingly, after he enslaved his heart demon, his strength started to surge. In less than 3 months, he moved from the Immortal Emperor stage to the Immortal Lord stage.

The day he became an Immortal Lord, the universe shed bitter tears. It was as if seeing a man devoured by his hatred made him fall even deeper into his evil intent.

The Ruthless Bandit accepted his name, and so he started what would be recorded in the forbidden records as the Grim Massacre.

As Kent continued to read the book, his appearance changed with it. In fact, the aura around him seemed to start to spill out of the garden, causing thousands in Skull City to tremble in sheer fear.

This drew the attention of the High Priestess, so she came back to Princess Pandora’s place to check, since she could tell the aura was coming from her place.

"What is happening?" she asked, approaching the garden where Princess Pandora stood guard.

"Nothing to worry about, Mother. Lord Kent is just cultivating because he mysteriously gained enlightenment after hearing about the Evil King."

"I see. I was scared there for a moment," hearing the reason, the High Priestess calmed down a bit.

She looked at Kent, currently facing her with his back, and something inside her stirred. She didn’t personally know the Evil King, but she had felt his presence, and now, as she looked at Kent, she felt as if she were staring at the man whose voice she had heard a few times.

Knowing that was impossible, considering the Evil King is long gone, she sighed and walked away. She had to calm everyone down first before they all ran away.

***

Kent had no idea what was happening around him. He kept reading for hours. Soon, only five pages were left to go.

By then, the Ruthless Bandit had already accumulated enough strength and had even started attacking the Universe Council.

[Going against an organisation that had been around since the Primordial Era is not a joke. Already, I had clashed with ten gods and came close to death every single time.

However, no matter the horror, I always made it out alive.

Why? Because I want to live long enough to kill every last one of them. I may not be a Celestial, but I will kill a Celestial and keep killing until every last one of them is dead.

I have already gathered information revealing the hierarchy of the Universe Council. Apparently, I would need more than enough power to vanquish them.

They are monsters in human clothing, and that translates literally into their strength. So I will start somewhere and make sure that, when I am done, they will feel my wrath deep in their hearts even after I am gone.

I received news from a reliable source that the current Leader of the Universe Council has a daughter who is currently a demigod. The source revealed that she has five guards, who comprise four demigods and one god.

She would be the spark that would light the fire. In ten days’ time, she would die, and that would be my declaration of war against the Universe Council.]

Kent flipped to the next page...

[It ended in total annihilation. All five guards died after a grave battle that lasted for just an hour. In the end, however, I couldn’t bring myself to kill her.

She may be the daughter of a great evil who had the heart to issue the order to kill an unborn baby, but she is not her father. I hate him, but it turned out I don’t hate everyone. Yet again, I was reminded that I still have some goodness in me, something I hate very much.

Honestly, I wonder why I even spared her life when I had killed many for far less.

However, by sparing her, she got what she wanted—to live a life free of her father’s influence. I had set her free, and in return, she gave me a spear.

I honestly don’t know why I accepted the spear. It looks ordinary, and most importantly, it looks like it has reached the last leg of its durability.

I think I have been scammed by that lady. Though I promised not to pursue her, so I guess she had this one. I can’t win all, I suppose.]

Kent chuckled, for the first time, a genuine emotion of helplessness appearing in his eyes. It appears he found the ordinary nature of the spear very amusing.

However, he soon flipped to the next page, and that was when the aura around him and the spear hovering behind him changed.

At once, the entire city was enveloped in the malevolent aura of evil, the kind that caused many to go down on their knees and start praying to the Evil God.

Soon, the entire city entered a state of prayer. Every last one of them, including the High Priestess, entered this state. In their hearts, the Evil God had descended and was bestowing his protection upon them.

The only person who wasn’t in a prayerful state was Princess Pandora, who sat in a comfortable chair, sipping wine with visible ripples of boiling on its surface.

One could only wonder where she got the hell wine from.

As she watched Kent continue to read, a smile lingered on her face. Soon, the smile widened a little, causing her to smirk.

"Welcome back, Lex Morvane. Now, you reap what you sow, for you deserve it all."

To the ordinary eye, nothing extraordinary is going on. However, to those with a third eye, they can see that as the people pray, a change starts to take root in Kent, one that had been planted a very long time ago.
