Chapter 1587: Pride, Trust & Deceit

Chapter 1587: Pride, Trust & Deceit

Kent sat down in a lotus posture directly across from the green-haired lady. He was a bit shaken to learn she had died.

As the Three Life Dao Celestial, Kent understood that her status meant she could not be killed. Someone with that deep understanding of life should be a literal immortal.

In fact, someone like her should be invincible, considering she managed to comprehend the Dao of Life to the Celestial stage.

However, from what she sounded like when she introduced herself, it was plain as day that she was killed, or more accurately, she had died.

Kent had yet to establish whether she was killed or died a natural death. Of course, as a Celestial, Kent recognized that she shouldn’t have died a natural death. So, in hindsight, it meant she was killed, and that alone was a reason to pay more attention to her.

If someone who had managed to comprehend the Dao of Life was killed, then who or what was able to kill her? What could even kill life?

Kent’s focus snapped away from his thoughts, and he decided to admire her beauty. Her figure is graceful. She has high cheekbones, green eyes, and a leaf tattoo on her forehead.

Her body is covered in a translucent green robe that barely covers 50% of her body. Those slender legs, coupled with her hips, gave her a figure that would cause heads to turn.

"Are you done admiring my body yet?" Just as Kent thought he was being sneaky, a voice reached his ear, making him smile slightly, a guilty expression appearing on his face.

"Sorry about that, Senior. My father once said it is no crime to admire beautiful things."

"Your father sounded like a terrible advisor."

"Can’t deny that. But I am inclined to side with him on this one." The smile on his face felt shameless in ways that cannot be explained.

"Whatever. Just don’t go gawking at other Celestials that are not me. Trust me, us Celestials can be unreasonable sometimes."

"I will take that to heart, Senior."

"You’d better do that. That said, since you are here to comprehend my Dao, how about we start with me telling you the true nature of my Dao? Afterwards, you will have a chance to ask any questions you have."

Kent nodded and paid close attention to whatever she had to say.

"I cultivated the three life Dao named: Regeneration, Rebirth, and Resurrection.

The Dao of Regeneration focuses mainly on absolute healing. The feeling you experienced when you first arrived here was Regeneration. It allows me to regenerate faster than I take damage. This, in turn, makes it so I don’t even feel the pain like I am supposed to. I regenerate faster than my brain can register the damage at all.

Rebirth has to do with the three cycles: Life ↠ Death ↠ Life Again. I never reached the absolute form of this Dao, but the idea was to control life and death so that both could cancel each other out. Life can cancel death, and death can do the same. At my peak, I could easily switch off someone’s life, ending their existence for good. Aside from that, I could raise a living person, granting them a full life.

Resurrection follows the same principles as Rebirth; however, it violates the principle of Death in all forms. You can even say that Resurrection is the taboo of the Life Dao. The reason I said that is because, unlike Rebirth, where life taken from someone is granted to another, Resurrection has to do with complete rebirth in the sense that a person escapes death entirely."

Kent narrowed his eyes, his expression turning solemn. His mind snapped back to the Primordial Era when he used the Spell of Origin.

He had yet to experience how he comprehended it, but he knew it followed the principle of Resurrection to some extent.

"When a person dies, their soul returns to the universe. This soul is then judged, and if deemed worthy, they undergo rebirth. This rebirth happens in a different body, sometimes even a new state of being. A human can come back as a bird, and a butterfly can return as an angel.

However, with the Dao of Resurrection, instead of a new beginning, that soul can be retrieved and returned to the same body. It isn’t what should be done, and so it goes against the Dao of the Heavens.

However, Resurrection isn’t always about defying the Heavens. Resurrection can go either way. Some use it to defy the Heavens. I used it to support the Heavens."

"How so?" Kent asked.

"When Resurrection is paired with Fate, the results are something else. First, you have to know that in this universe, there are those whose fate can be changed from better to worse. Some are meant to do great things, but a change in their fate can cause them to die before their time.

Some even end up in the worst situations.

Whenever that happens, the tapestry of fate becomes wounded, and as such, there is a need for correction. That was where I came in."

"You used your power to bring them back and set them on the path they were meant to follow." Kent finished her sentence.

She nodded and even smiled.

"If that is the case, then why didn’t you bring yourself back? Most importantly, how could someone kill you when your understanding of the Life Dao is this deep?"

As someone whose understanding of the Life Dao is this deep, why didn’t she just bring herself back and be done with it?. Clearly, something doesn’t add up.

This question bugged Kent, so he asked.

"A good question. However, the answer is rather heartbreaking." Lady Kenzie smiled and sighed. "The answer has to do with pride, trust, and deceit.

At my prime, I was the center of attention for most people. At one point, I was even noticed by the legendary Nine Underworld Flames Blacksmith. However, my pride wouldn’t let me lower myself to any of my suitors.

That was until I met him, a Celestial whose understanding of the Fate Dao had reached a level similar to my understanding of Life.

We became Dao partners, and for millions of years, we worked to restore balance to the tapestry of fate. Along the way, my trust in him reached a level where we couldn’t help but fall in love.

If only I had learned I was the one who fell in love and not the other way around." A pale smile filled with rage appeared on her face.

"Life is a funny thing if you truly understand it. You asked why someone was able to kill me when I could just regenerate or even revive myself. The answer is simple, really.

If someone has access to your Dao Body, Dao Seed, Dao Heart, and Dao Soul, then finding out what your Fate Line looks like is very simple.

Once that is discovered, simply cutting it would erase your Dao Imprint from the Grand Dao Tablet, and the rest, you can already guess."

Kent sucked in a deep breath. "So your Dao partner severed your Fate Line. That took away your Dao, and so killing you was easy."

She nodded.

"But why?" Kent couldn’t wrap his mind around why someone would go through all this trouble just to do something so despicable.

In his mind, none of this made any sense. Going as far as making someone fall in love with you just so you could betray them is the darkest thing a person could do.

"Isn’t it obvious? All of this was because of love. I had to die for his one true love, who Fate dealt a bad hand, to be resurrected. My Dao Body, Seed, Heart, and Soul were what he needed, and he got them."
