Chapter 1663: Mak
Chapter 1663: Mak
’Inaya, what is wrong?’ Vexthra’s voice rang out in Inaya’s head in response to her sudden, stunned reaction.
’Hold on, sisters. Let me check something out first.’
Inaya moved toward the pink-haired man whose arms Baldy had jumped into. She didn’t seem alarmed since she knew Baldy was stronger than she was. What took her aback was the fact that Baldy had no guard up at all.
’Is he one of his big brothers?’ she wondered.
After all, Kent had told her that he had created seven powerful beings from the Eternal Sword Intent he had formed.
If that were the case, then fine.
However, she kept her guard up as she approached him.
Just as she arrived, Baldy pulled back with a smile on his face and turned to face her.
"Big Sister, meet Big Brother Mak. He is my favorite Big Brother after Big Brother Kent."
Inaya could tell that Baldy was very happy to have reunited with his big brother.
"Hi, my name is Mak, Baldy’s big brother," Mak introduced himself, flashing a handsome smile. If Inaya were an ordinary person, she would have been charmed by that smile.
"I am Inaya—"
"The Ten Emotions Sword Supreme," Mak said, revealing that he was already aware of Inaya’s identity.
He knew who she was, and that alone showed that he knew more than Inaya did.
"Have we met before?" Inaya asked, but Mak shook his head.
"No. However, I watched over you for two eras, so I know quite a lot about you."
Mak smiled and stood up, lifting Baldy’s tiny body onto his shoulder.
"Let’s walk and talk. I can get us inside the Calamity Zone." Mak said, showing he planned to accompany them.
He started walking toward the gateway with Baldy on his shoulder.
Inaya sighed and followed.
Inwardly, she reached out to her sisters again.
’False alarm, sisters. Baldy just reunited with one of his big brothers.’
’Another one?’ Val asked.
’Yes, and he looks even stronger than Han. He also said he can get me into the Calamity Zone.’
’Good luck, then.’
What Inaya didn’t know was that Han, just like Pandora, also had to restrict his power, or else he risked weakening the fabric of the universe, letting the enemy in ahead of schedule.
Inaya caught up with Mak and Baldy.
"When you said you watched over me for two eras, what did you mean?"
"I meant exactly what I said. I was tasked by Big Brother Jest to watch over you while he was gone.
"So I did. I disguised myself and followed you wherever you went, protecting you from the shadows until all the dangers surrounding you had died down.
"Afterward, I started traveling from one star system to another, living my best life."
Inaya sighed.
She had hated Jest for abandoning her during the Divine Era.
However, after learning what had happened and seeing firsthand the trouble he went through just to make it up to her, she hated herself for ever hating him.
Now, it seemed that the only reason she had not been in too much danger after Jest died was that he had left behind a guardian angel—more like a guardian incubus—to watch over her.
’That dumb bastard.’
A tear fell from her eyes, but she quickly wiped it away before Baldy and Mak could see it.
"Big Brother, where have you been all this time? You stopped visiting me. I was very bored and lonely," Baldy complained, pulling on Mak’s perfectly combed pink hair.
"I am sorry, Baldy. After the Blood Era, I was trapped in a Primordial Ruin and lost track of time. By the time I returned, many eras had passed, so I figured you had long since left to explore the universe like the rest of us."
"I didn’t go anywhere, Big Brother. I remained on Planet Brymrr and continued to wait for Big Brother’s return."
"I am sorry, Baldy. If I had known, I would have come for you," Mak said apologetically.
He doted on Baldy the most because he found him adorable.
Initially, they had all thought Baldy would grow up. However, after a few centuries had passed and he remained the same, they realized that he would remain that way forever.
They wanted to stay with him, but with the missions they had been given, they knew that staying in one place wouldn’t help any of them. So they left, and thus, he was left alone in the safest place they knew.
Inaya sighed inwardly, knowing exactly how Baldy might have felt. After all, she had also waited just like him, waiting for someone who never showed up.
’At least we are all happy now, and that is what matters.’
After walking for a few minutes, they started drawing attention. However, just as many were about to complain, Mak released a trace of his Sword Intent, instantly shutting them all up.
After ten minutes, they arrived before the gateway, where ten Sword Celestials stood, and from the look of things, they were engaged in a heated argument.
The moment they arrived, the ten Sword Celestials turned and stared at them, their arrogant expressions evident.
"Who the fuck are you three, and can’t you see we are in the middle of something important?"
Mak raised an eyebrow and turned to Baldy.
"Do you want to reply to them, or should I?"
"I will."
Baldy jumped down from Mak’s shoulder and smirked.
"We have eyes that can see perfectly, but we just don’t give a fuck. Now, if you ten losers are done wasting our time, kindly get the fuck out of the way. We are in a hurry here."
The faces of the ten Sword Celestials and the disciples around them turned ashen.
"IMPUDENCE!"
One of the ten Sword Celestials shouted, his hand moving toward his sword.
However, he couldn’t reach it before Mak pointed his right index finger forward, and a beam of Sword Intent shot out, landing on the man’s forehead.
He froze in place, a pale look appearing on his face.
Seeing this, the nine remaining Sword Celestials, along with the disciples and those around them, panicked and took a step back.
"All talk, no bite," Baldy muttered.
Then he scoffed and turned to Inaya.
"Big Sister, let’s go."
Inaya nodded and started following Baldy and Mak.
When they got close to the frozen Sword Celestial, Mak tapped him on the forehead, and he regained control of his body.
"Be sure to remember this face. The next time you dare raise your weapon against me, I will cut your body into several pieces. By the time I am done, all that will remain of you will be blood."
The Sword Celestial trembled and staggered backward, losing his footing and landing on his butt.
"What a chicken," Baldy smirked and walked past him.
A few seconds later, they entered the gateway and disappeared.
Only after they were gone did everyone breathe a sigh of relief.
"Who were they?" a Sword Celestial asked, his body still tense even after Baldy, Mak, and Inaya had left.
"How would I know? This is my first time seeing any of them."
The other Celestials also shook their heads.
"I know two of them."
Suddenly, a Sword Supreme disciple shouted.
"I recognized the bald kid and the purple-haired lady from an incident that happened on a Unique World a couple of months ago."
"You don’t mean—"
"Yes. The kid was there, and the lady is the Ten Emotions Sword Supreme who recently underwent her Supreme Ascension."
"Damn."
Inaya tried to keep a low profile, but in the end, Baldy exposed her identity.
"Inform the elders. We have to get ahead of this now."
Disciples from both sects immediately left to inform their elders.
For someone who had reached the 30th layer to appear here, many wanted the chance to speak with her and seek guidance, while others still hoped to get their hands on her.
