Chapter 1718: Shadow Spirit
Chapter 1718: Shadow Spirit
It is not an exaggeration to say that the moment Saden’s arrow enters the body of an opponent, that is the end of the person or beast. It’s unreal, yet truly devastating to imagine.
During the Dark Era, when the Night Riders became enemies of the Universe Council, both humans and beasts came after them, forcing them to go on the run.
One time, while on the run, some of them separated from the team to draw the pursuers away. Saden, being an archer, volunteered to lure away a group of wolfkin warriors.
After pulling them away and running for two days, she was cornered. At that moment, many would have despaired; however, not Saden.
That day, while she was surrounded on all sides, she unleashed her true power upon the universe.
The Universe Council claim that among the Night Riders, only a few could perform wonders and none of them was Saden, the Shadow Archer.
However, that day, the most chilling thing happened, and since then, the legend of the Shadow Archer has started to spread.
They claim she moves without a sound and strikes with absolute precision. They even say her arrows don’t move like normal arrows, but like shadows.
All that was true about the Shadow Archer. However, her true power lies in her uncanny ability to exploit even the smallest opening.
If Uncle Drew can take advantage of small openings to kill, then with Saden, making a mistake when locked in battle against her means dying in the most violent way.
She exploded 1,002 arrows that day, killing 1,000 gods and 2 Supremes. Since then, whenever they are locked in battle, and her arrow enters a beast, they know the battle is over.
Today, the Shadowtail Scorpion was unlucky enough to meet the Shadow Archer, whose arrows are even more deadly when they enter the inside of a beast or a person.
The moment the arrow exploded, the Shadowtail Scorpion fell back, and that was the end of the battle.
When the Shadowtail Scorpion died, a head-sized core appeared from its body, oozing the insidious power of shadow and darkness.
"Go ahead, Saden. We will protect you."
Saden nodded at Uncle Drew’s words, moved forward, and jumped onto the back of the Shadowtail Scorpion without fear.
She took a deep breath and gently extended her hand, touching the core.
BOOOM!
A powerful shadow energy exploded from her body the moment she touched the core. However, just as it appeared, it vanished like smoke. Then strands of shadow qi began to be absorbed into her body.
"Would she attempt to reform her Shadow Spirit?" Nara asked, walking toward Uncle Drew.
Uncle Drew looked at Saden for a moment before replying, "I don’t know how far she has reached in Shadow Cultivation this time around or how much stronger her soul is, but if she can form a Shadow Spirit, that would be good."
"Let’s hope she manages to form a Shadow Spirit then. The last time, after forming a Shadow Spirit, her power took a significant leap. Perhaps this time around, she will become even stronger," Nara sighed, sat on a boulder, and started to wait for Saden to handle her business.
Lene also walked to a stone on the side and sat down.
While in battle, she attacked the Shadowtail Scorpion only once. However, looking down on her for that would be a huge mistake. In truth, her true power is on another level.
Already, she is a Demigod, and soon, she will use the Primordial Chamber to awaken her Primordial Spirit.
Once that happens, just like the rest of Kent’s wives, she will also start walking the Ancient Path. But before that, if there is a chance to grow stronger, then all of them would take it.
As for Vargus, he jumped onto a chunk of the cave wall that remained and started to scan the surroundings. Like Kaizo, he is a lover of battle.
So while this one was short, he enjoyed himself. But now, after having a taste, he wanted more.
Eryndor remained on the side, his green hair billowing behind him. He is perhaps the quietest one in the group, not because he is an introvert, but because he spends most of his time talking to his hell demons.
He had already summoned four, but had yet to use them in battle. Aside from having a Hell Summoner class as his primary class, he also has a Combat Mage class that allows him to tap into the power of his Flame and Ice affinities.
So he may appear to be a summoner of hell demons, but he is actually one of the most accomplished Combat Mages of the Dark Era.
He stood 6’4" tall, with a slim build and a set of green eyes. He is not an elf, but he has long ears. He appears to be in his early twenties, but in fact, he is much older.
A few hours passed, and before long, Saden had spent over five hours absorbing the core. As the minutes went by, Uncle Drew and the others could feel the shift in the air around her.
Clearly, she was advancing closer to the Absolute Rank, where her Shadow Affinity would finally become more versatile, allowing her to tap into it more deeply and use it more actively.
Suddenly, the surrounding light began to grow dim.
Uncle Drew jumped to his feet and scanned the area, but sensed no changes that suggested they were under attack. This made him shift his attention to Saden, whose body had begun to release waves of shadow qi.
"She has reached the Absolute Stage," Lene muttered, a smile appearing on her face.
The rest of her teammates also smiled. A win for Saden was a win for the team, so they all became happy.
However, their joy was amplified when Saden’s shadow suddenly moved and appeared before her. Then, the Shadowtail Scorpion she was seated on started to turn into dark mist. In no time, not even a bone remained.
However, the mist gathered slowly, then began to move and merge with Saden’s shadow.
The process lasted for just two minutes, but after the last strand of mist merged with Saden’s shadow, the remaining core moved and merged into her chest.
BOOOM!
A powerful explosion of energy erupted from both Saden and her shadow. Then, in what could only be described as a shocking sight, the shadow smiled and nodded at Saden, who also nodded back.
"I guess she really did it again this time, too," Nara said with a smile as she started walking toward Saden. "Congratulations, Saden. You have become even more powerful now."
"It is all thanks to you all helping me kill the Shadowtail Scorpion."
Nara hugged her, and Lene joined them.
After the hug, Saden turned and looked at Uncle Drew.
"Thank you, Captain."
"No need to thank me. It was a team effort."
Saden’s shadow stood behind her, wearing an expressionless look on her face. They looked identical, but at first glance, one would know which of them was real.
"Looks like you still need more shadow cores to elevate the power of your Shadow Spirit," Uncle Drew said, and Saden nodded sadly.
"She hasn’t awakened any of her innate abilities yet, so aside from augmenting my bow and arrows, she can’t do anything more than that."
"We will handle that as we travel, so relax for now," Uncle Drew said.
After resting for another hour, they continued on their way...
