Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 1719: Sand Centipedes

Chapter 1719: Sand Centipedes

Uncle Drew and his team travelled several more miles after Saden was done absorbing the shadow core. They are now much closer to the Worm Desert.

Now that Saden had formed her shadow spirit, it was just a matter of getting more cores so she could strengthen it and make it one of her strongest abilities.

With a shadow spirit, she can augment her bow and arrows, strengthening them beyond their current limits. Aside from that, she can use her shadow to move.

She can send her shadow thousands of miles away, and whenever she wants, she can swap places with it or teleport directly to its side.

Unlike the tower, where teleporting inside during danger is impossible, she can easily do that with her shadow. This would allow her to escape grave situations more quickly and safely.

Aside from that, as an assassin, she thrives on keeping her presence concealed at all times. With the shadow spirit, she can remain undetected even from gods and the more she improves her shadow spirit, the more robust that concealing ability becomes.

But like any good thing, it would take some effort to strengthen it. Now, however, she can augment her bow and arrows, making them at least 30% more powerful.

After travelling for a while, they finally arrived at the borders of the Worm Desert. Stretching before them was a vast expanse of red dunes filled with all kinds of dangers.

The most common beasts found within the Worm Desert were the Death Worms and Sand Centipede. They lived beneath the sand and were extremely sensitive to vibrations.

While they would not reveal themselves immediately, the moment they sensed a presence, they would stalk their prey and attack when they believed they had a good chance of winning.

Uncle Drew and his team waited for nightfall before they started moving across the Worm Desert. As Night Riders, their power was strongest during the night.

They chose to take advantage of that, and thankfully, their first night in the Worm Desert was quiet. When they took a break, they camped in a stone valley where several caves served as shelter.

They had the tower with them, so purchasing supplies at their master’s expense was that easy.

However, while the night was quiet, a few hours into their relaxation, the ground shook, and a 250-meter-long Sand Centipede emerged, hissing as it lunged at Lene, who was the closest.

She jumped and landed on its back, her spear stabbing toward the joints along its body. However, before her spear could connect with the beast, it trembled, and bone spears shot out from its body, forcing Lene to leap back.

She spun her spear, deflecting some of them, while a few grazed her arms and shoulder.

The moment she landed on the ground, Vargus roared into battle, his hammer connecting with the back of the Sand Centipede. It was blasted backwards, crashing through the surrounding stones.

Uncle Drew leapt into the air, and a wave of sword qi exploded out of his body. At once, the air around him became razor-sharp.

"Eryndor, draw its attention," he commanded.

Then, with a sudden movement, he appeared above the Sand Centipede and unleashed a deadly arc, carving a deep wound into the creature’s body.

The creature rattled its body and unleashed more bone spears. However, Eryndor was already on the move, his staff weaving runes into existence.

Meanwhile, Saden slipped into the shadows and vanished from sight, while Nara stood back, watching the battle and paying attention to the surroundings.

The moment she sensed danger, she would make a move to counter it.

So, in this battle, only Uncle Drew, Eryndor, Vargus, and Lene were participating. Even Saden hadn’t attacked yet, and the creature was already close to death’s door.

However, for this creature to have snuck up on them, it was clear that the Worm Desert wasn’t as simple as they had thought. None of them saw it coming, not even for a moment.

So they had to remain on high alert.

Of course, that decision saved their lives a minute into the battle.

"Three more incoming!"

Nara shouted, pointing east of their location. Just beneath the surface, three colossal Sand Centipedes sped in their direction, probably alerted by the battle.

Or perhaps they had been following them, just as the first one had.

The moment she alerted the others, she moved and clashed with one of the Sand Centipedes, isolating that one from the horde.

Lene also moved and attacked the second Sand Centipede, while Eryndor and Saden took on the third.

Saden had to come out of the shadows for this one. Her bow oozed shadowy energy as one arrow after another flew out.

Meanwhile, flames and ice spells continued to pour from Eryndor, who had yet to summon any of his Hell demons.

They still didn’t know if these were the only Sand Centipedes in the area, so conserving as much energy as possible was the most logical decision they could make.

Lene brandished her spear, meeting her opponent in a deadly collision that sent shockwaves in all directions. She wasn’t a brute fighter, but she was a Demigod, and against another Demigod-level beast, she wouldn’t allow herself to be outmatched in strength.

After the violent collision, both combatants were pushed back several meters. But as if that was nothing, they clashed again.

Lene moved with deadly speed, harnessing her wind element.

Her spear also lit up with flames, and with one deadly slash, a large, terrifying arc exploded outward and connected with the Sand Centipede, sending it flying backwards.

The Sand Centipede crashed through a dozen stone pillars before finally coming to a stop. Before it could recover, Lene was already upon it.

She understood the need to end the battle before she was forced to fight multiple opponents. With decisive steps and attacks, she was like a blur, her speed blinding.

Her spear thrust forward like a streak of lightning, piercing through one of the gaps in its armoured shell. The beast screeched in pain and retaliated instantly.

Hundreds of bone spikes erupted from its body, turning the surrounding area into a forest of deadly spears.

Lene twisted her body midair, narrowly avoiding most of them. A few tore through her sleeves, leaving shallow cuts behind.

"Looks like I have become rusty after enjoying the comfort of the tower these past years." A smile appeared on her lips, then her eyes lit up with flames.

Rather than retreating, she accelerated, her long, dark, and green hair billowing in the air behind her.

Wind gathered around her body, forming spiralling currents that increased her speed severalfold. Flames danced around the tip of her spear as she descended like a meteor.

Boom!

The attack smashed into the Sand Centipede’s back, creating a massive crater beneath it.

Both her Wind and Flame affinities had already reached the Perfect Harmony stage.

On the side, Saden was like a blinking dot, appearing for a moment and fast enough to unleash an arrow only to slip back into the shadows.f

After attaining Absolute shadow affinity, her control over shadows had increased severalfold.

Every arrow she fired found its mark. The more she unleashed a barrage of arrows, the slower that beast became. Her shadow spirit had augmented her bow, so every arrow carried 30 times the power it usually carried.

However, considering both she and Eryndor are only True Immortals, locked in battle against a demigod, it was only natural that they weren’t having an easy time with the Sand Centipede.

She may have slowed it down, but that doesn’t mean she had killed it.

Every last battle happening was just decisive and extremely chaotic. However, just when Lene was getting closer to killing her opponent, a bang came from the distance, followed by an avalanche of sand.

Uncle Drew’s brow knitted.
